Mr. Mike Stop Lying Featuring 8Ball And MJG

Once again, we’ve arrived at another Thursday which means we’re one step closer to the weekend. My sounds for this week consisted of my personal Suave House Records compilation, Luther Vandross and a personal Jay-Z CD. Ja Rule’s Rule 3:36 album and Me Against the World by 2Pac also. As you can see there were definitely some dope music being listened to this week. With it being Thursday, we know that it’s time for my Throwback Thursday. For my featured track, we’re going to pick this one from the Suave House click. Suave House is arguably my third favorite label and produced some great music. Mr. Mike released one solo…

South Circle Unsolved Mysteries Featuring 8Ball & Tela

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. It has been a while since I’ve done Throwback Thursday because I was dealing with Covid. Fortunately, everything is great now and I’m glad to feel much better. My playlist this week started with the Last Meal from Snoop Dogg and then I’m Serious from T.I. The Great Depression from DMX, Ironman from Ghostface and the new joint from Meek Mill was also played. Here I Stand from Usher and the Unplugged album from Alicia Keys also made the playlist. My featured Throwback Thursday track is from South Circle as many know were part of Suave House…

8Ball & MJG On Top Of The World for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. My playlist this week was one of the more impressive more I’ve ever had. During the week, the Libra album from T.I. and new Young Buck was played. Master P’s TRU to the Game joint, personal greatest hits albums for Spice 1 and Mac was also played. The Recession joint from Jeezy, a mixtape from The Game and a personal compilation from me also was bumped. There were a lot to pick from this week, but I’m riding with 8Ball & MJG. The On Top of the World album was their 3rd project and it was highlighted…

On Top of the World Dropped 25 Years Ago by 8Ball & MJG

8Ball & MJG are my favorite duo ever in the hip hop. They were introduced to the world with their classic debut, Comin’ Out Hard. The 9 tracks album had the perfect title because the project was hard. After buying Comin’ Out Hard I was instantly a fan of 8Ball & MJG. The following year, 8Ball & MJG dropped their On Tha Outside Lookin’ In joint. On Tha Outside Lookin’ In was a tremendous album and one that I absolutely love. This is one that I’ve always remembered because it was released on my 17th birthday. The next year 8Ball & MJG came back out with their 3rd album under…

Listen and Stream 10 Classic Suave House Records Albums

Death Row and No Limit Records have always been my two favorite labels ever. My third one would have to be Suave House Records. Suave House Records was discovered by Tony Draper back in 1990. They housed artists like 8Ball & MJG, South Circle, Crime Boss, Tela and Mr. Mike. In the summer of 1993 is when I first discovered them when they dropped 8Ball & MJG’s debut album. Comin Out Hard was a southern classic and it put Suave House Records on the map. From 1993 to 1998, Suave House Records released several classic albums. After disappearing for a while, the label dropped more music, which included an album…

8Ball & MJG On Tha Outside Lookin In Released 25 Years Ago

My favorite album from 8Ball & MJG was released 25 years ago today. Comin Out Hard was eye opening, but On Tha Outside Lookin In took it to another level. A few days ago, we celebrated another milestone album from 8Ball & MJG. 8Ball & MJG’s fourth and final album on Suave House, In My Lifetime came out 20 years ago. On Tha Outside Lookin In is one of those albums that get played from the beginning to end. The only features on the album is from MC Breed, Crime Boss and Thorough from South Circle. If you’re from anywhere in the south, you know that Lay It Down was…

Rhyme and Reason Released 20 Years Ago Today

One of my most vivid memories of the 90s had to be the music. The middle part of that decade has been called the 2nd Golden Age of Hip Hop by many people. Another good memory from the 90s was the great soundtracks and movies that were produced then. One of those movies that produced a classic soundtrack was Rhyme and Reason. It was a documentary about rap and hip hop that featured interviews with at least 80 different artists from the likes of 2Pac, Biggie and Chuck D. Rhyme and Reason talked about how hip hop evolved from the beginning to the multi-billion dollar cultures it had become in…

Much-Anticipated Album Selah by Synik and Rod McCoy

Usually my Music Monday is dedicated to a track, but this is the much anticipated album from the homie Rod McCoy and Synik. They’ve been featured a few times before they released their album on the site and I’ve been a huge fan of their music, sound and vibe. I’ll be honest in that I love the old-school hip hop vibe and when I’m listening to this album it takes me back to that time like the ATlients Outkast or 8Ball & MJG. So if you’re a fan of hip hop and definitely the old-school flavor, make sure you check out this Selah album and joint the Selah movement and…

Piece of Mind from Tela Released 25 Years Ago Today

8Ball and MJG, Crime Boss, South Circle and Tela made Suave House one of my favorite record labels ever. On this day 25 years ago, Tela released his debut called Piece of Mind. I remember the first time I heard Tela, which was on the South Circle album and the track Unsolved Mysteries that featured 8Ball. Although I didn’t know much about Tela; seeing he was down with Suave House I bought the album the day it dropped. Let’s say that this album didn’t disappoint at all and if anything, it exceeded my expectations. The album featured Crime Boss, Mr. Mike, 8Ball & MJG and a few others. Despite not…

Bun B You’re Everything for Throwback Thursday

UGK is one of the most influential groups or duos to ever touch the mic. Unfortunately, Chad Butler aka Pimp C passed away in December of 2007. Bun B dropped his solo debut two years prior called Trill. About five months later, Bun B released his second solo joint called II Trill. II Trill became the #1 album in the country and has sold over 300,000 copies. Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Juvenile, Pimp C, Young Buck, Slim Thug, Chamillionaire, 8Ball & MJG all made appearances. One of my favorite tracks off the album is called You’re Everything. You’re Everything features southern all-stars Rick Ross, David Banner, 8Ball & MJG. With…

Eightball Dropped His Lost Album 25 Years Ago Today

If you followed southern hip hop in the 90s, then you are all too familiar with Eightball and MJG. Comin’ Out Hard was their Suave House Records debut album. They dropped that album in the summer of 1993, and it was an instant classic. The following spring, they dropped On Tha Outside Lookin’ In. On Tha Outside Lookin’ In was another instant classic and my personal favorite album of theirs. In the fall of 1995, they reached gold status with their On Top of the World album. On Top of the World was their most successful album and it produced Space Age Pimpin. Eightball and MJG would be a part…

Crime Boss Big Chiefing for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend again. The started off with the Hip Hop is Dead joint from Nas and then the new Cordae album. One of my personal 2Pac Greatest Hits and then So Help Me God from 2 Chainz. The debut from Gang Starr, Fuck a Mixtape from T.I. and Laugh Now Cry Later by Ice Cube. As you can see, there’s plenty to choose from regarding my featured Throwback Thursday joint. Another compilation I’ve put together is one for Suave House Records. I’ve made a compilation before and also featured 10 Suave House albums you should have in your collection.…

Mack 10 & Tha Dogg Pound Nothin But the Cavi Hit

Welcome to another Thursday and you know that mean we are closer to the weekend. My playlist for the week started out with the Stillmatic album from Nas. One album that haven’t been played for years was the Rigomortiz joint by DMG. Eve’s Eve-Olution, a personal J. Cole mixtape and the joint Scrappy/Trillville joint also made the cut. The featured track comes from the classic Rhyme & Reason Soundtrack that dropped in the late 90s. The Rhyme & Reason had 8Ball & MJG, RZA, Busta Rhymes, Tribe, Master P and many more. The Throwback Thursday joint is from some west coast legends Mack 10 & Tha Dogg Pound. Nothin’ But…

Mr. Serv On Heaven Is So Close for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. My playlist this past week was pretty much all west and south. Better Dayz from 2Pac, Restless by Xzibit and Yukmouth’s double album was played. The south was also represented as mentioned early. Still Standing from Goodie Mob kicked things off and DTP’s Golden Grain followed. The late, great Pimp C’s Naked Soul of Sweet Jones brought back memories. On Top of the World from 8Ball & MJG made an appearance and Ciara’s The Evolution was also played. The final one that I’ll mention is where my featured track will come from. Life Insurance was the debut…

Wicked Wayz From Mr. Mike Released 25 Years Ago Today

Suave House Records is one of my favorite rap labels of all-time. 8Ball & MJG were their biggest acts, but they had others beside them. Tela, Crime Boss and South Circle all dropped classic albums as they were included in my Suave House collection. Mr. Mike was a part of South Circle with Thorough and he dropped his debut album the following year. Wicked Wayz was the name of the project, and it was released 25 years ago today. The Wicked Wayz joint featured 8Ball & MJG and Ice Cube and it was a great album. Stop Lying is my favorite song off the album as it was featured as…
