Jadakiss DMX Un Hunh for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. Once again, this week was full of gems as far as my playlist goes. King’s Disease II by Nas was played and let me say that it’s an incredible joint. Too Hard to Swallow from UGK; Watch the Throne and a couple of personal mixtapes from Jay-Z and 2Pac got play. The Friday Night Lights mixtape from J. Cole and the Ghetto Commission from No Limit Records got some play. My featured Throwback Thursday track comes from an album that just celebrated its 20-year anniversary. Kiss Tha Game Goodbye from Jadakiss is that album as his name…

Jadakiss Kiss Tha Game Goodbye Dropped 20 Years Ago Today

Jadakiss is one of the greatest rapper of all-time. During this past week’s edition of Verzuz, more people have come to that realization. Jadakiss along with his Lox brothers took on the Dipset live from Madison Square Garden. Let’s just say that Jadakiss walked away as the MVP as he took out the Dipset by himself. Lebron James even tweeted out that Jadakiss is the most underrated rapper in history. 20 years ago today, Jadakiss released his debut solo joint, Kiss Tha Game Goodbye. Before that, the Lox dropped two great albums as part of the Ruff Ryders and Bad Boy Records. Money, Power & Respect and We Are the…

Eve Double R What with Jadakiss and Styles P

Who was a fan of the Ruff Ryders back in the day? We all remember DMX, The Lox, Swizz Beatz and those Ruff Ryders compilations. For this Throwback Thursday, we’re going to turn our attention to the first lady of Ruff Ryders. Eve always held her own whenever she got on tracks with any of them. This week, the Eve-Olution album was in rotation and it was a dope album. Gangsta Lovin’ and Satisfaction were the two singles released from the album. Gangsta Lovin’ featured Alicia Keys on the hook and Satisfaction was another one of Dr. Dre’s classic beats. For the featured track, we’re going in another direction for…

Very Best of Jadakiss for Mixtape Friday

Last week, we had the Best Of 1994 Hip Hop for our Mixtape Friday. This week, we have another treat as we will be highlighting Jadakiss. Jadakiss have released four solo albums, 6 mixtapes, collabo album with Fabulous and 3 as part of the Lox. Jadakiss have also made countless guest appearances throughout the years. Every couple of years you’ll find me fiending for some new music from Jadakiss. A couple years ago, Jadakiss along with Fabolous released their joint, Friday on Elm Street project. This is the Very Best of Jadakiss, and it features 75 tracks. This is one Spotify so there will be quite a few favorites that…

Jadakiss Kiss of Death Released 15 Years Ago

If you follow or know me, I’ve gone through spells where Jadakiss must be heard. The last project from Jadakiss was released in November of 2017. Friday on Elm Street was a collaboration with Fabolous, and it was dope. Kiss of Death was the follow up to his debut, Kiss Tha Game Goodbye. Kiss of Death actually went platinum and was a great album. Jadakiss built anticipation for the album by releasing Time’s Up that spring. Time’s Up was a fast-paced track that saw Jadakiss spitting and the late, great Nate Dogg on the hook. During this time period, you had an instant smash if you got Nate Dogg on…

Ja Rule New York Featuring Fat Joe and Jadakiss

Are you ready for another Throwback Thursday? Do you remember when Ja Rule dropped that classic, New York record? It featured Jadakiss and Fat Joe and I’ll admit, that was a classic record. When the record hit, everyone loved it except one person, 50 Cent. 50 Cent thought that since he and Ja Rule are enemies that no one should work with him. After New York, 50 Cent targeted Fat Joe and Jadakiss. Fat Joe responded with one record and said he’ll never respond to another 50 Cent diss. On the other hand, 50 Cent and the Lox went after each other all the time. I’ll be honest, the Lox…

Fabolous Jadakiss Talk About It Featuring Teyana Taylor

There are very songs nowadays that impact in hip hop like it used to. Growing up as a fan of hip hop, a lot of the times they used their voice to talk about politics or police brutality. Despite having the Friday On Elm Street album for a while, this song slipped by me. Soul Food and Theme Music were the two tracks that I played the most. Finally, I’ve had the chance to ride around by myself and actually process the entire album from Fabolous and Jadakiss. If you’re someone that loves lyrics, this is the album for you because both greats are spitting. The featured track, Talk About…

Jadakiss Dropped Kiss Tha Game Goodbye 15 Years Ago

15 years ago today, one of nicest MCs to ever pick up a mic dropped his much-anticipated, debut album. Jadakiss released Kiss Tha Game Goodbye after releasing a group album with The Lox along with Styles P and Sheek Louch called Money, Power & Respect. After the Lox dropped their album and after being featured on numerous tracks for the likes of Notorious Big, Jay-Z, DMX and a few other hip hop heavyweights, everyone was waiting to hear from Jadakiss. Finally on August 7, 2001 he delivered a damn good album that featured Nas, DMX, Styles P, Sheek Louch, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, 8Ball, Fiend, Eve and a couple others.…

2Pac Ghetto Gospel for Throwback Thursday

It’s hard to believe that it has been over 27 years since Pac passed away. Even though he’s been gone for so long Pac is still relevant today. There hasn’t been a new Pac album in over 17 years, but he’s still mentioned as one of the best. Last year, he was named by Billboard as a top 5 rapper of all time. Two of the biggest rappers in the world have named him their biggest influence. Those rappers are Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole and unfortunately, they are beefing with each other. One of his albums was on my playlist this week and many have talked about it till…

Usher Confessions Released 20 Years Ago Today

Usher is one of the biggest artists in the world today. Usher released his first album all the way back in August of 1994. Last month, he dropped his ninth album called Coming Home and it was followed by a major tour. Around the same time, Usher performed at halftime of the Super Bowl. To this day, Confessions is the best album by him and one of my all-time favorites of any genre. Usher dropped Confessions 20 years ago today and the marketing of this album was top tier. The biggest controversy from the album came about the mistress-impregnating concept of “Confessions Part II”. Due to the controversy and…

Fabolous Into You for Throwback Thursday

One of the albums that stood out this week was Street Dreams by Fabolous. Street Dreams was the second album released by Fabolous. It was the follow-up to his platinum selling, debut Ghetto Fabolous. Street Dreams would also go on to sell over a million copies. Fabolous released three singles off the album. The third single from Street Dreams is my Throwback Thursday and it’s called Into You. Fabolous had two versions of the single with one featuring Ashanti and the other Tamia. The original was a single from Tamia’s self-titled debut album. Fabolous sampled the smash-hit from five years prior and she’s on the hook. The track can be…

The Lox Money Power & Respect for Throwback Thursday

The Lox is regarded as one of the greatest hip hop groups of all-time. They consist of Sheek Louch, Jadakiss and Styles P. The signed to Bad Boy Records upon entering the game. They had the honor of appearing on the Life After Death joint from the late, great Notorious Big. The following year they released their debut album. Money, Power & Respect was the name of it, and it just celebrated its 25-year anniversary. Money, Power & Respect went platinum, but they left the Bad Boy soon after over money. Lil Kim sung the hook on Money, Power & Respect and it was a classic record. Money, Power &…

Listen and Stream DMX First 2 Albums for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. This week will be a little different. We are honoring the late, great DMX who passed away last Friday. DMX had a heart attack on April 2nd and succumbed a week later. He was 50 years old and was preparing for his comeback. There is a completed album he finished before passing away. DMX hit the scene by dropping 2 platinum albums in one year. It’s Dark and Hell is Hot dropped in May of 1998 and went 4x platinum. Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood was released in December of 1998. The album sold…

Mary J. Blige Family Affair for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday and that means we are getting closer to the weekend. Unfortunately, I’ve been sick all week and didn’t listen to a lot of music. The only albums I’ve listened to was Amerikkka’s Nightmare from Spice 1 and a Mary J. Blige mixtape. Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Juice in the Hood, which turned 25 was the other one. We are going with Mary J. Blige to be the featured artist this week. The Queen of Hip Hop/Soul just celebrated her 50th birthday this week. Mary J. Blige has been putting out classics since the early-90s and deserves all the props she gets.…

The Get Rich or Die Trying Soundtrack Released 15 Years Ago

50 Cent have gone down as one of the most successful rappers of all-time. 50 would rearrange the mixtape game before being signed to Eminem and Shady Records. Get Rich or Die Trying is one of the biggest debut albums ever in hip hop. The album has sold over 12 million copies worldwide. As we all know, 50 Cent has gotten away from hip hop and into the entertainment world. He’s helped put out the popular series, Power on Starz and a show on ABC called Life. Before all that, 50 put out something of his life story with the movie titled Get Rich or Die Trying. The movie was…

The Light by Common for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, this means we’re closer to the weekend. The big news in hip hop this week was the rumored exit from TDE by Kendrick Lamar. It turned out to be fake news, which could mean we might have some new music from him. My playlist this week consisted of a Snoop Dogg and Jadakiss mixtape, plus the Like Water for Chocolate. There was also a pair of personal mixtapes, Lil Wayne’s I Am Not a Human Being II and Boosie’s Life after Death Row. Once again, there’s a lot to choose from as far as a featured Throwback Thursday track. The featured track comes from Common’s Like…

Rick Ross Released Teflon Don 10 Years Ago Today

Rick Ross released Teflon Don 10 years ago today. Teflon Don marked his fourth album and to me it marked him transitioning to a great rapper. Rick Ross just teamed with August Alsina to drop the Entanglement track, which adds to the Will and Jada drama. Teflon is the second biggest selling album in his discography as it only trails his debut, Port of Miami album. Less than two months before Teflon Don, Rick Ross dropped the dope Albert Anastasia EP mixtape. The year before, Rick Ross dropped his Deeper Than Rap album which was another great album. During the Deeper Than Rap album, Rick Ross was beefing with 50…
