WWE Royal Rumble 2012 Review

Ok it’s here amongst us again and one of my favorite PPVs, the Royal Rumble. I always love it because the Rumble match itself because there is alot of anticipation, usually some returns and sprinkle in some surprise entrants, usually some past wrestlers. Also this is the start of the road to WrestleMania. I’m going to do something different I’m not going to basically type out the entire PPV, just going to give the matches and discuss what I like or didn’t like about them, kinda like how I do the weekly shows.

First off I think the right man won the match, I think Bryan has really grown as a character and I like how they’ve built up this storyline with Show and Henry to build his character. I just want him to move on to someone else to show off his skills. Also Henry came into the match injured so it took alot out of the match also. Not the greatest match in the world to open a PPV but what other match was going to open the PPV. Nice spot at the end with the Big Show holding onto Daniel Bryan hanging on top of the cage but eventually Bryan got loose and fell to the floor for the victory.

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Beth Phoenix, Natayla and Bella Twins vs. Tamara, Kelly Kelly, Eve Torres and Alicia Fox

First off I hate impromptu matches on a PPV. Not much can be said about this match. I mean creative don’t give us a reason to care about them. I think they’re were banking everything on Kharma.

I really like the build to this feud, it’s too bad that this is just a filler feud before Cena moves on to the Rock. Will Cena turn heel is the question everyone wants to know? The match itself was a nice brawl between the 2 and they worked really hard. They brawled everywhere throughout the arena, then to add fuel to the fire after beating Cena down Kane attacked Zack Ryder in the back and brought him out to the ring while he was in a wheelchair to delivered a Tombstone Piledriver. Cena ran back in the ring to brawl with Kane but received a chokeslam from Kane, Ryder was stretchered off.

Match Rating: 3/5

Brodus Clay vs. Drew McIntyre

Another impromptu match, I like Clay but I really hate how they’re doing McIntyre. It’s just a squash match on a PPV.

Match Rating: Ehhh

This was being built up with special guest referee John Laurinaitis saying he would screw C.M. Punk out of the WWE title. Dolph Ziggler who is probably my favorite wrestler these days and has got numerous victories over Punk the last month. Outside the involvement of Laurinaitis this was a great match, these 2 have great chemistry together but they’re also 2 great wrestlers also. Sick spot saw Ziggler counter the GTS with a fameasser, nice spot. But after a great match Punk got the victory.

Match Rating: 3.75/5

Now it’s time for the actual Rumble match. We knew Miz would be #1 and the first big entrant was Mick Foley coming at #7. At #8 we thought it was Alberto Del Rio returning but it was his announcer Ricardo Rodriguez who came out in a beat Datsun, funny moment because he mocked Del Rio’s entrance. Another funny spot was when Santino, who came in at #9 faced off with Mick Foley making it Mr. Socko vs. The Cobra. Jerry “The King” Lawler was #12, he came in to attack the Miz and Cody Rhodes before getting eliminated by Rhodes. Great Khali returned at #15. Booker T entered #17. The best highlight of the night when Miz tossed Kofi to the floor who landed on his hands then walked on his hands to the steps to stay in the match, please do something with Kofi, he’s too talented. Hacksaw Jim Duggan was a surprise entrant at #19 which got a big pop from the crowd and they were chanting “USA USA” but was eliminated by Rhodes. Micheal Cole entered at #20 but was followed by the return of Kharma, thank God. She quickly beat up Cole then he tried to run out of the ring but was eliminated by Booker T and Jerry Lawler. Dolph Ziggler confronted her but she hit him with the Implant Buster and then she eliminated Hunico before getting eliminated by Ziggler. Road Dogg returned at #23 and he did his thing while the crowd chanted “You Still Got It”, he done all of his moves before getting tossed out by Wade Barrett. Randy Orton entered at #28 who got a huge hometown pop, I thought this is where he should’ve returned instead of Smackdown. Sheamus and Chris Jericho were the last two in the match and Sheamus won after hitting the Brogue Kick to Jericho after they battled for about 8 minutes. Nice to Sheamus get the win, I think he deserves to go to WrestleMania and fight for the title. The Rumble match wasn’t great or bad either but it was ok.

Match Rating: 3/5

 

Overall Rating: 2.5/5- This was just an average PPV which had some great moments and had some dull moments also. But I think it could’ve done better.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown Review 1/27/2012

Ok I’m back again but this time it’s for Friday Night Smackdown. Let’s Do this.

 

Like:

Daniel Bryan, Big Show and Mark Henry opening: I like how Show is showing he’s vulnerable since he ran into A.J, Bryan’s girlfriend, Bryan is taking his new character and running with it. He’s already a great wrestler and now adding character makes him much better. Mark Henry joined them with a promo also which prompted Teddy Long to come out and make a match between Mark Henry and Big Show.

Cody Rhodes vs. Justin Gabriel: I like the action between the 2 the few minutes they fought. I think Rhodes will be a world champion this year, he is gold right now and it’s amazing how far hes come. I believe Gabriel have a bright future also, I think he need a character change.

Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre: 2 of my favorites in the WWE, they work well together and I really wish Sheamus had a legitimate feud but maybe they’re waiting for Christian to come back from injury. Also I don’t know what they’re doing with McIntyre but he should be battling for a title, he’s too talented.

Yoshi Tatsu on TV: I’ve been a fan of his since he was on ECW and wish they would do something with him. With alot of these guys like him, Gabriel and Sin Cara, whenever he returns I think the cruiserweight titel should return.

Randy Orton/Wade Barrett: Though I hate Orton returning on Smackdown, this was a nice segment. Love the RKOs to everyone in the ring.

Brodus Clay: Big fan of this gimmick, like I’ve said in the Raw Review.

 

Dislike:

Randy Orton return: Why did they have him return to Smackdown before the Royal Rumble, I believe they could’ve played this up a whole lot better. I would’ve talked about him being out for a while and have him return @ the Rumble. Also more could’ve been done with his feud with Barrett.

Epico/Primo vs. Santino Morella/Yoshi Tatsu: Basic match, I really wish they’d give Yoshi someone worth a damn to be a contender for the tag titles.

Hunico vs. Ted DiBease: This little feud is not interesting at all. Maybe with this injury could be a blessing in disguise for DiBease. I think he’s a hell of a wrestler.

Alex Riley: What happened? I mean he went from feuding with the Miz to never seeing him.

Aksana vs. Natalya: I hate what they’re doing to Natalya. I think she’s the best woman’s wrestler in the WWE.

Mark Henry vs. Big Show: Not a fan of the match and it’s been said Henry injured his knee, which is the reason why he collapsed in the ring. But with the Bryan involvement they’ve built the triple threat match for the title in the cage at the Rumble.

 

Overall the show was average, I’d give it a 2.5/5. This Sunday is the Royal Rumble, which is one of my favorite PPVs. Check me out next week as I’ll review the Royal Rumble, Raw, Impact and Smackdown.

TNA Impact Review 1/26/2012

Well like I did with my first Monday Night Raw review I’ll basically talk about what I like or what I didn’t like on the program.

Like:

Jeff Hardy/Bull Ray Backstage Brawl: I’m guessing with Bully Ray getting himself involved with Hardy matches and causing him the title they’re going to feud. It’s cool because I think Ray is one of the best heels in the business now. Nice way to start off Impact. Also seen Roode jump out of a truck to assist Ray. They throw Hardy in the back of the truck Roode got out of but Storm makes the save and gets beat up until Sting makes the save.

Sting/Hardy/Storm/Roode/Ray In Ring Segment: Sting tried to calm them down but eventually had to use force to keep them apart, builds more tension while setting up a tag match for later.

Zema Ion/Alex Shelley: Nice to see Shelley back, he’s gold in the ring and one of my favorites.

A.J Styles/Daniels/Kazarian: The only reason I liked this is because Daniels mentioned my hometown of Gainesville, Georgia.

Bully Ray/Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Hardy/James Storm Tables Match: Nice match with alot of action back and forth with Storm getting the win for his team when Hardy held Roode on the table while storm splashed him though it. Afterwards Ray beat down Hardy and Storm with a chair then later him a powerbomb on Hardy through the table from the middle rope.

Dislike:

Tara/Mickie James/Velvet Sky: Very sloppy match but you can expect that having Velvet in it. I am looking forward to the Tara vs. Gail Kim match though, they’re both good wrestlers.

Eric Young/ODB vs. Angelina Love/Winter: Don’t like this storyline, point blank.

Matt Morgan vs. Samoa Joe: Didn’t like the match at all, I just think Joe should be doing something better.

 

Well that was my first Impact review I’d give the show about a 3.5/5 rating. Take care until next time.

WWE Monday Night Raw Review 1/23/2012

What I’ll do is basically talk about what I like and what I dislike about Raw, as I’ll do the same for Smackdown and also TNA Impact.

 

Liked:

Punk, Cena and Laurinaitis Promo: I really like the direction so far of the Laurinaitis and Punk feud is going, also it’s a nice twist having Cena talk about his issues with Laurinaitis regarding Zach Ryder. It was a nice set up for what happens later in the show.

Punk/Cena vs. Swagger/Ziggler: Nice tag match which saw Laurinaitis get involved again to help Ziggler get the win. Basically a good way to help sell the PPV making it seems like Punk could lose the belt.

Chris Jericho: I’ve seen alot of people are upset about what he’s doing, he’s building anticipation for something. Nice package put together also his run in the WWE until now. I think alot of people want instant results, which is cool but I like storytelling. Look forward to what happens at the Royal Rumble Sunday.

Royal Rumble Hype: I love the video package to build for the Royal Rumble.

Miz/R-Truth Backstage: I must admit I hate when they broke up because I think the Awesome Truth team had potential, they were perfect together but R-Truth has been one of the most entertaining guys this past year and the Miz is awesome also.

Brodus Clay: When he debuted I was like what the hell is this. What are they doing to him? But he’s became over with the fans and I actually like it. Oh yeah he beat Heath Slater. But the thing with Clay is he can go in the ring.

Miz vs. R-Truth: Nice twist having the loser to enter the Royal Rumble at #1. I like both of these guys and wouldn’t mind seeing them feud over a title. Also please WWE put a title on Truth.

The Ending of Raw: From the announcement of Laurinaitis job being under review, to the return of Triple H to rule on his future, Punk putting Laurinaitis in the GTS and Ziggler attacking Punk from behind hitting the Zig Zag. Not only built more to the PPV but have you looking forward to next weeks Raw.

 

Disliked:

Kane vs. Zack Ryder: Not a fan of the actual match but it seems for some reason they’re writing off Ryder and Kane is the right person to do it. Kane has been money since returning and maybe this will help Ryder’s overall character development. Also is Cena embracing the hate? He was mad after Eve told him he was to blame for Ryder being hurt.

Sheamus vs. Jinder Mahal: I’ll be honest I fast forwarded the match and definitely not because of Sheamus, because he’s one of my favorites but I just don’t like Mahal. Maybe they’re trying to make him another Muhammed Hussan but he’s nowhere close.

TNA Genesis 2012 PPV Review

Ok I was so busy towards the end of the year I didn’t get a chance to review I believe the last couple of PPVs which I’m sorry for but I’m back and this is for TNAs first PPV of the year Genesis.

 

 

The show started by showing Bobby Roode and Jeff Hardy arrive as they battle for the World Title in the main event. We start the PPV off with a 4 corners match for the X Division title between the champion Austin Aries, Xema Ion, Jesse Sorensen and Kid Kash.

We start with all men in the ring battling before Aries and Kash is tossed out leaving Ion and Sorensen go at it for a couple of minutes. Really nice spot early when Kash go for a reverse suplex on Ion from the top rope but Sorensen also power bombs Kash in the process, Nice spot. Aries sneaks in and attempt to pin all 3 one after another. Another nice spot when Zema Ion done a corkscrew move onto Kash and Aries from the top rope to the outside. Then Sorensen done a swanton dive from the top rope onto all 3 on the outside. Ion done his 360 splash from the top rope onto Kash to eliminate him then Aries tried to one up Ion by doing the same to Sorensen but he kicked out at 2 and a half. Sorenesen hit a big crossbody on Aries for a 2 count. Sorenson then eliminated Ion with a small package for the 3 count. Even though eliminated Ion disrupted both men from getting 3 counts. Ion disrtacted Sorenson when he went to the top rope allowing Aries to hit a brain buster from the top rope for the win.

Winner and Still Champion: Austin Aries   Match Rating: 3.5/5- Great opener, alot of action.

After recapping the history of The Pope and Devon we get to the match. Alot of brawling throughout the match while Devon’s sons look on, who came to the ring with The Pope after turning on him. Pope ordered them again to attack there dad and when they didn’t he beat both of them up. This prompted Devon to get up and beat the Pope up. Devon picked up the win after dropping the Pope on his head. Then after the match we had a feel good moment when Devons sons came into the ring and hugged there dad.

Winner: Devon     Match Rating: 2/5

Bully Next we have RVD taking on Gunner with Ric Flair in his corner. Alot of back and forth action, nothing special. Until Gunner DDT’d on the concrete while Flair distracted the referee. Gunner rolled him back in and got the 3 count. Seeing RVD do the stretcher job, one had to think we’ve seen the last of him. Rumors of him leaving TNA.

Winner: Gunner w/Ric Flair       Match Rating: 1.5/5

Before the match Madison Rayne was made to get inside a cage outside the ring to keep her from being a distraction by Velvet Sky. Alot of back and forth action between, good match also. Rayne threw Kim some brass knuckles but the referee saw them but she threw another pair and James kicked Kim and then picked up the brass knuckles hit Gail Kim with them to get disqualified.The crowd was yelling “bullshit”

Winner and Still Champion: Gail Kim by DQ      Match Rating: 2.5/5- I hate DQ finishes like that.

 

Bully Ray started out playing mind games by avoiding Abyss and going to the outside. Then they grabbed chairs and start sword fighting with chairs until Ray knocked the chair out of the hands of Abyss then hit him in the back with his. After a quick exchange Ray grabbed a chain from his shorts and Abyss picked up a chair. Abyss blocked the chain with the chair then hit Ray with a chair to the back then going on the outside to throw weapons in the ring. Alot of action back and forth with Abyss arm being busted open. They used tables, kendo sticks, trash cans, chains, tables with barbed wire and thumb tacks. Sick spot where Abyss was sandwiched between the 2 tables with barbed wire and Bully done a back splash to the table with Abyss between them. Another sick spot was Abyss choke slamming Ray on the tacks. Then after that Bully beat the hell out of Abyss with the kendo stick. Abyss picks up the win after hitting the Black Hole Slam on the table with the barbed wire.

Winner: Abyss             Match Rating: 4/5- Really good match, very physical and alot of weapons were used.

We start out with Joe and Morgan with a little exchange then they tag in Magnus and Crimson. Not really much happened in this match. Finish came when Crimson and Morgan double choke slammed Magnus.

Winners and Still Champs: Morgan and Crimson          Match Rating: 2/5

Nice video package detailing there feud over the past couple of months. Very slow match after hitting his patented 3 back suplexes, Angle actually hit a moonsault from the top rope. James went for his superkick but was reversed to an Angle Slam for a 2 count. Storm went to the top rope but Angle ran up the turnbuckle and wanted to do his belly to belly suplex from the top but Storm stopped it and bit Angle to knock him down which was followed by a elbow from the top. Angle picked up the win when he pulled the referee in front of him when Storm was going for the superkick which distracted the referee allowing Angle to hit a low blow on Storm then kicked him in the head for the win.

Winner: Kurt Angle            Match Rating: 3/5- Not as good as there last match

Once again a nice little video package highlighting the feud between the two. Hardy was in control in the earlier part of the match. Nice spot earlier on the outside where Hardy jumped off the steps onto Roode who was set up against the guard rail. Hardy’s offense was alot of high flying and Roode’s was more mat based. Roode tried to take his title and leave but but was chased down by Hardy. Hardy hit the Twist of Fate and then the Whispers in the Night on Roode for a  count. Roode tried to leave with the title again. The match ending when Roode kicked the referee to get disqualified.Afterwards Hardy hit the Swanton Bomb.

Winner: Jeff Hardy but Roode is still the Champ           Match Rating: 2.5/5- Match never had any rhythm to it.

 

Overall: I’d give this PPV probably a 5/10, meaning it wasn’t bad or it wasn’t really good either. Match of the Night was the Monster’s Ball match. I also think they need to have there PPVs elsewhere because it feels like you’re watching an Impact episode.

Daddyshangout NFL Midseason Report

Well everyday this week I’ll go through the divisions and give my opinions on what’s going on with them and the direction the team going in and playoff possibilities. So today I’m going to review both the AFC and NFC East divisions. So let’s get this started.

 

AFC EAST

Well first off we have the Buffalo Bills, who are one of the biggest surprises of the league who are tied atop of the division with the Patriots and Jets with a 5-3 record. Let’s look at the offensive side of the ball where quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is having a career year and was rewarded with a 6 year contract extension. He have over 1900 yards passing with 15TDs and 9 Ints. Another surprise has been running back Fred Jackson who’s rushed for over 800 yards with 6TDs. Steve Johnson lead the team in receiving with 42 receptions and over 500 yards receiving. The next 3 games will be a test for this team seeing they’re all on the road against Dallas, Miami and New York Jets, who just beat them this past week 27-11. With road games against the Patriots and Chargers still on the schedule my prediction for this team is 8-8 but considering there 4-12 record last year this would have to be labeled as a successful season and something to build on to the future.

Let’s see coming into this past week they were 1 of 2 teams without a win. After this week there is only 1 team that haven’t won a game and guess what it’s not them, it’s the Colts. This week they man handled the Kansas City Chiefs who were on a 4 game winning streak but the Chiefs do have the 26th ranked offense and defense. Despite all the issues the Dolphins have there problem is on the offensive side where they rank 25th, but no one can say that they don’t give full effort because even though they’ve posted only 1 win they’ve been a scrappy team who’s been in every game which has to do with there 10th ranked defense. I don’t see them winning more than 3 games this season so Miami I guess it’s time to look at the draft to start building the franchise back up where maybe they could draft a quarterback seeing they haven’t really been impressed with there starter, who’s gone for the season with a seperated shoulder Chad Henne or possibly make a trade for one. But I see them finishing at 3-13.

This year’s New England Patriots started the season scoring at will on all there opponents putting up over 30 points a game with an average of 33 points a game. Now the last 3 games they haven’t put up more than 20 points and averaging 19 points a game losing the last 2 games. So what can be blamed for the woes or is it teams have figured out that Brady isn’t effective when pressured. Don’t know but they still bolster the 8th ranked offense in the league but on the defensive side of the ball they ranked 21st, something they didn’t see especially when they traded for Pro Bowl Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth, well this week he was cut so let’s see where this leaves the Patriots who schedule doesn’t get any easier as this week they travel to there rival New York Jets, who they are tied with along with the Buffalo Bills for 1st place in the division. After that game they come back home to play the Kansas City Chiefs before heading to Philadelphia to play the Eagles. But don’t worry Patriot fans I still seeing them not only making the playoffs but also winning the division with a 11-5 record.

The Jets season so far has been a roller coaster ride, I mean they started the season on a high with 2 wins and then went downhill with 3 straight losses. Now they’re on a high again with a 3 game winning streak headed to there showdown with there rival Patriots. Mark Sanchez has showed signs of him coming of age seeing he’s not turning the ball over as much and have been making better decisions. The offense comes in ranked 12th and the defense ranking 9th. This is a brutal part of there schedule seeing they play the Patriots Sunday and then headed to play Denver on a Thursday night. There playoff chances could come down to the end because I see them going 10-6 and it depends on other teams if they make the playoffs but if they do get in I see them do some damage also because they have a overall solid team, it just seems they have issues putting it together like they can.

NFC EAST

We have the Dallas Cowboys who at the halfway mark have a 4-4 record boast the 18th ranked offense and the 16th ranked defense. There team still revolves around Tony Romo but it will hurt them having wide receiver Miles Austin out an extended amount of time with a nagging hamstring injury but the defense lives and die through all-pro DeMarcus Ware who is still one of the best pass rushers in the league. As far as the Cowboys playoff chances and outlook for the rest of the season I think they’ll finish the season with a 8-8 record, missing the playoffs.But this could change seeing they have found a talented runner in DeMarco Murray and that could ease alot of pressure off of Tony Romo to the point he can just manage the game and not try to do too much.

The New York Giants, who have been on a roll and I would say is a top 5 team in the league are the division leaders with a 6-2 record. What’s crazy is that if you look at there stats on the offense and defense you’d think there record would be worse. But they do the right things when they’re needed the most. They rank 13th in total offense and 20th in total defense. Coming off a huge win on the road against the New England Patriots and now headed to a huge showdown in San Francisco against the surprising 7-1 49ers. After that game there schedule doesn’t get any easier as they play division rival Philadelphia Eagles before traveling to New Orleans to play the Saints on a Monday Night game and then home to the unbeaten Packers. I see the Giants going 10-6 to finish the season and that’ll be good enough to win the division and get them into the playoffs where in any given game they can beat anyone.

Well now to my favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles who Vince Young labeled as the “Dream Team” because all of the free agent acquisitions made during the offseason. Well at the half way point they are 3-5 with the 9th ranked offense and the 16th ranked defense. But the problem with the Eagles are them finishing the game, basically collapsing in the 4th quarter especially against the Falcons, 49ers and the Bears. The 2nd half of the season doesn’t get any easier seeing they travel to the Cowboys and Giants and also have a big home game against the Patriots. Maybe I’m biased but they can still have a decent season if they correct there mistakes and hold onto leagues because they can score with anyone in the league. I still think 9-7 can still be attained but I just don’t see them making the playoffs but let’s just hope I’m wrong.

The Redskins started the season with a 3-1 record, division leader and ever since they haven’t won a game. It started with replacing Grossman at quarterback with John Beck, then losing Tim Hightower for the season with a knee injury and Santana Moss for an extended amount of time with a broken hand so the offense have gone downhill to a 27th ranking. The defense is the bright spot for the team in which they’re ranked 7th but with no offense the team is headed to another bad season. I honestly see them continue the losing trend throughout the season and finishing with a 4-12 record. Maybe it’s time for a change in Washington, no not that change but maybe at head coach or maybe an even better idea, how about ownership because Dan Snyder has turned this once proud franchise into a joke.

WWE Vengeance 2011 PPV Review

Well here we go again, the WWE held another PPV Sunday called Vengeance. I guess this is like the 3rd PPV for them in the last month and a half I guess. But enough talking and let’s get to the review.

 

 

The show started out with the match for the tag team championship with Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne, Air Boom defending the titles against Jack Swagger and United States Champion Dolph Ziggler, which are 4 of my favorite wrestlers together. The match was a pretty good tag match with a nice spot early in the match where Bourne went for the Air Bourne on Swagger but landed on Swagger knees. The heels were in control of most of the match until Kofi got the hot tag and eventually hit the Trouble In Paradise on Ziggler then tagged Bourne in then he hit the Air Bourne on him for the win. Rating= 3.5/5

Dolph Ziggler(c) vs. Zack Ryder

Right after the match after Ziggler was pinned Zack Ryder music hit and it was time for the match for the United States championship. Noticed lately they’ve been showcasing Ziggler alot, which is a good thing he’s probably one of, if not the best worker the WWE have. Well there were a few near pinfalls in the match, Air Boom who just finished there match were in the corner of Ryder since Swagger and Vickie Guerrero were in the corner of Ziggler but Air Boom was banned by the referee after throwing Ziggler in the ring after went to the outside. Ryder got in alot of offense but eventually lost because of the constant interference by Guerrero and Swagger when he was super kicked by Ziggler for the win and kept the title. Rating= 2.5/5

In the WWE there really isn’t much expected from a Divas match which really isn’t the Divas fault at times because they’ve lacked storylines, but lately it has been improvements. This match isn’t as bad as I seen some rated it. Nice pace with some nice moves hit by both with Eve showing alot of athletic abilities and had a nice spot in the where Beth went for the Glam Slam but Eve reversed it sending Beth into the ropes. Then Beth used alot of power moves and in the end winning with the Glam Slam. Rating=2/5


The two have been feuding for a couple of months now and they are really good workers so I was all for the match which had alot of nearfalls and was a very physical match. Sheamus picked up the win here with the Brogue Kick when Christian went for the spear, nice match just wish it would’ve went longer. Rating= 3/5

There was a really nice video package of the “chaos” that has been going on in the WWE since the Money In the Bank PPV in July. Alot of back and forth actions in this match, started out with HHH and CM Punk using heel double team tactics when the referee back was turned. Then eventually Miz and R-Truth worked on HHH alot. Eventually HHH made the hot tag to CM Punk after hitting the Miz with a big clothesline. Punk came in with alot of offense and had alot of momentum until Kevin Nash came through the crowd and attacked HHH. In the ring CM Punk had the Miz on his shoulders to deliver the GTS but R-Truth interfered and they hit there finishers at the same time, which they call “The Little Jimmy Finale.” I really like the team of Awesome Truth. After Nash assaulted HHH some more he hit a nasty jacknife powerbomb on the back of HHHs neck. Rating= 3.5/5

The two guys here have a long history going back to there time in Legacy together along with Ted DiBease. This feud started when they had a match on Smackdown a few weeks back and Orton hit Rhodes on the side of the head with the ring bell causing Rhodes to bleed everywhere and having 9 staples being put in his head to close his wound. This was a really nice back and forth match with both guys getting in alot of offense. The finish saw Orton hitting the RKO after tossing Rhodes into one of his baggers. Rating= 2.5/5

Afterwards they plugged the return to action of the Rock at the 25th Anniversary of the Survivor Series.I must admit I’m going to mark out when this happens.

Well these two guys also have a history with each other. if we recall Big Show was on a tear after Alberto Del Rio ran him over when Mark Henry came out to fight the Big Show when he was knocked out cold by Big Show. Later on when Big Show was fighting Del Rio, Mark Henry came out and cost Big Show the match which led to a match at the Money In the Bank PPV where Henry beat Show and then proceeded to break his ankle afterwards. Big Show came back a couple of weeks ago leading to the match. Alot of brawling and power moves from these two. One sick move was the Big Show chokeslamming Mark Henry from the top rope but Henry kicked out it. The finish saw Big Show going up to the top rope but was caught by Henry and went to superflex Big Show off the top rope and the ring collapsed to end the match like what happened a few years back between Brock Lesnar and the Big Show. The Big Show had to be carted off and Mark Henry refused medical attention and stumbled to the back under his own power. Rating= 2/5

This was a Last Man Standing match and the match went on even though the ring was messed up from the previous match. There were alot of back and forth action. They also fought everywhere from outside the ring, up the aisle, in the backstage area and through the crowd. They fought everywhere and this was a great match and they had great chemistry with one another. They both took some good bumps. The finish came when Cena gave the AA to Del Rio off the steel steps through the announce table. Cena went into the ring for the ref can count Del Rio out but the Miz and R-Truth came in and beat down Cena while Del Rio was getting up. But Cena got to his feet at the 9 count but Del Rio ran into the ring and hit him with the belt and then Cena was counted out and Del Rio won. Rating=4/5

Overall= 3/5- This was a nice PPV even though I didn’t really have high hopes for it seeing that they’re going to hype up the Survivor Series seeing not only it’s the 25th Anniversary of the PPV but also with the return of the Rock to action. But there was a great main event, then there were alot of good matches and there wasn’t really any bad matches.

2011 World Series Preview

Tonight starts the 107th edition of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals, who is led by Albert Pujois against the Texas Rangers who’s led by Nelson Cruz who went through a tear during the American League Championship series against the Detroit Tigers by hitting a record 6 HRs during that series. The Cardinals will have the home field advantage for the series because the National League won the all-star game.

Chris Carpenter will get the start for the Cardinals in Game 1 while C.J Wilson will get the start for the Texas Rangers. The Texas Rangers are appearing in there 2nd consecutive World Series, they feel short last year losing to the San Francisco Giants. This will be the 3rd appearance by the St. Louis Cardinals in the last eight years having lost to the Boston Red Sox in 2004 and beating the Detroit Tigers in 2006. This is the 18th appearance in team history for the Cardinals and could this be the last time we see future Hall of Famer Albert Pujois in a Cardinals uniform because he’ll become a free agent after the World Series.

The Texas Rangers advanced to the World Series by beating the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Divisional Series 3 games to 1 and beating the Detroit Tigers in the American League Championship Series 4 games to 2. While the St. Louis Cardinals had to fight just to get into the playoff with the help of the Atlanta Braves historic collapse with them rendering a 8.5 game lead in the Wild Card in September. The Cardinals beat the heavily favored Philadelphia Phillies in the American League Divisional Series 3 games to 2, when Chris Carpenter outdueled his best friend and former teammate Roy Halladay for a 1-0 win in Game 5 then went on to beat the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series 4 games to 2.

So I really don’t have a prediction for this series seeing I like for either team to win, I just know it should be exciting because both teams have excellent offenses and can get hot instantly so expect a good series. After thinking about who I think should win I still can’t decide because I’m a huge Albert Pujois fan and would love for him to win another title and on the other hand the Rangers have never won a title so the other half of me want them to win there first title.

TNA Bound For Glory 2011 PPV Review

On October 16th, TNA had it’s Bound for Glory PPV which is equivalent to WWEs WrestleMania being it’s there biggest PPV of the year. Plenty of storylines in and out of the ring was going onto the event. We’ve had the long build for the Sing/Hogan match and the build of Robert “Bobby” Roode as he faces Kurt Angle for the championship. The news out of the ring was Hogan basically dissing Roode saying he wasn’t ready to be a champion. Afterwards A.J Styles fired back at Hogan with comments on twitter. But on to the event and here we go. But also the Tag title match between Mexicans America and Ink Inc was a free stream match and held before the PPV started.

 

 

Well this was the official opener and usually the X-division always deliver a great match and this one was really good filled with high spots. One really cool spot was Kendrick hitting the sliced bread off the top rope for a nearfall. But in the end Aries won with the brainbuster. I must say that Aries is so far above the other X-division competitors right now it’s crazy. Rating= 3/5

Now if you’ve followed wrestling in the last 15  years you know this has produced some of the best matches, they’ve been rivals since the days of ECW in the mid to late 90s. I must say that Jerry Lynn can still go in the ring. Match was filled with crazy bumps and alot of weapons. Still a pretty decent match but if I suggest you google them to see some of there earlier matches. The ending came when RVD hit the Van Terminator. Afterwards they shook hands and posed for the crowd. Rating= 2.5/5

Crimson vs. Samoa Joe vs. Matt Morgan

Now it seems that TNA has big plans for Crimson and maybe he will become a star but I just don’t see it. Now with that said I’m a huge Samoa Joe fan and been a fan of his and I don’t understand why they’re having him lose all the time. I really hope he jumps ship when his contract expires. Ok now I’m finish venting, now to the match. Well Crimson won with the spear on of course Samoa Joe. Nothing to be said about the match. Rating= 1.5/5

Bully Ray, love his character and he’s one of the best heels in the business. Alot of brawling in this match, also alot of weapons was used. One big spot saw Bubba hit the Bubba Bomb on Anderson through a table. The finish saw Anderson hit the Mic Check on Bubba throug a table for the win. Rating=2.5/5

Winter(c) vs. Mickie James vs. Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne

Well this match was a disaster and had too much going on. You had Karen Jarrett, who was the special referee going against everything Mickie and Velvet was doing. Then Angelina Love who was in the corner of Winter interfering backfiring and then Winter spit the “red blood” in Karen face allowing Velvet Sky to hit the pedigree like move on Madison Rayne while Traci Brooks made the 3 count. Rating= 1.5/5

The storyline is that they’re best friends and Daniels has been bragging that he beat Styles the last time they fought and that Styles can’t beat him. Now these tow are great workers and Styles is one of my favorites. This match was horrible and the ending was worse. As Styles was going after Daniels in the corner with a screwdriver that was brought to the ring, Daniels took the mic and said “I Quit” and ran out of the ring. As Styles was walking up the ramp Daniels attacked him and said that Styles never beat him. Rating= 1.5/5

Well I didn’t care about this match at StarrCade 97, yeah almost 14 years ago so I didn’t care about it now. Just say Ric Flair was out there for the match and this was one of the slowest matches ever. After Sting won, Immortal came out and attacked him while Hogan was in the corner bleeding. Then Sting crawled to him and asked Hogan to help him and then out of nowhere Hogan turn face and the crowd to love it but I don’t understand the logic of this but Hogan helps Sting fight off Immortal and in the end they shake hands. Rating 1/5

Now time for the main event and they have done a good job at building Roode up for his world title opportunity. Now Angle entered the match having an issue with his hamstring. Roode is probably my favorite in TNA right now so I was happy for him getting the opportunity. Even though Angle was hurt it turned out to be a pretty good match with Angle getting the win in controversial fashion when not only he held the rope to pin Roode but Roode had his arm under the rope. It felt rushed and just came off bad, seeing that Angle is hurt this was the perfect time to put the belt on Roode but rumor has it that Hogan lobbied for Roode not to win the title because he’s blasted him saying he was ready. Rating=3/5

Overall= 1.75/5. Only matches that were worth a damn was the opener and the main event. For this to be the biggest PPV of the year TNA really dropped the ball. I don’t have nothing else to say about it.

Aftermath of the Hell In A Cell PPV

Well we’ve just had the Hell In A Cell PPV and I think it could have been worse and it could have been better. But first of all they need to drop this gimmick PPV because seeing all the great and brutal Hell In A Cell matches we’ve had in the past, which was actually brutal nothing like the PG Era matches we have now. I mean we’ve had the first one between Shawn Michaels and the Undertaker from the Badd Blood PPV back in 1997 to the epic one between the Undertaker and Mankind at the King of the Ring PPV in 1998, you know the one where Undertaker threw him off the cage. But you see where I’m going here. I just can’t see the promotion showing some of the great moments of the past to what we have now.

So let’s start the rant I mean like I said let’s cut the number of PPvs down to around 6 to 8, I know it’s big money for the WWE but anything is better than 13, I mean alot of the PPVs have little to no build at all. I mean they could put on so many good shows seeing if they properly build them and have guys who can actually wrestle be apart of the card. I mean Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett, Drew McIntyre, Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd and just some good talent that could be putting on great matches. I know the WWE tried to get away from the wrestling aspect and be referred to as sports entertainment but the main reason fans show up is because of wrestling and they pop for good wrestling especially with a good buildup and story.

So let’s look at the PPVs they have and what I would change about them. Now in January they have the Royal Rumble which is perfectly fine with me and it’s traditional so I’d keep it. In February they have the Elimination Chamber which is a toss up for me because I actually like it but if kept they need to kill the PG stuff for this event because we’ve had these matches in the past and they were brutal but it scares me being so close to WrestleMania. Which leads me to the WrestleMania PPV, which is the granddaddy of them all, so no touching that. Then it’s on to Extreme Rules which I would eliminate because there really isn’t anything extreme about the PPV and a waste of time. The next 2 PPVs are Over the Limit and Capitol Punishment that take place in May and June respectively. But get rid of them and bring back the King of the Ring PPV, which is not only a great traditional PPV but it could create a star by having them wrestling all night and building them up. Then in July we have the Money In the Bank PPV which is one of the more exciting PPVs and have loved it since they started the concept. Of course in August they have SummerSlam which would be kept also. Night of Champions I would keep also but I would move it to another month and would have proper build seeing all the titles are being defended. Then we have the Hell In A Cell which I’ve stated that I would get rid of the PPV and maybe have a Hell In A Cell match at one of the PPVs to finish off a feud. Vengeance is the next PPV and I would keep this one also I like the name and if built properly and could be a great concept. The Survivor Series is also a keeper also so I wouldn’t touch that maybe I’d go with the old school 5-on-5 tag matches. Finally we have the Tables, Ladders and Chairs PPV also which I would get rid of also.

Now we have it I’d keep 8 PPVs and spread them out during the year and they’ll have proper build going into each one of them. Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania, the returning King of the Ring, Money In the Bank, SummerSlam, Night of Champions, Vengeance and the Survivor Series are all keepers.
