6 Quarterback Options for the Atlanta Falcons in 2024

The Atlanta Falcons are coming off another disappointing season where they didn’t make the playoffs. The Falcons finished 3rd in the NFC South with a 7-10 record. Atlanta had a defense that finished in the middle of the pack in scoring. Jesse Bates III was one of the best free agent signings in the league last season. The offense finished in the top-10 in rushing and that was thanks to Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. Allgeier had a 1,000 yard season the previous one and they selected Robinson in the top-10 of last year’s draft. The offense should’ve been better with Kyle Pitts and Drake London. Atlanta had inconsistent…

Will Sports Betting Become Legal in Georgia?

Sports betting has taken over the nation to the point it’s being promoted on TV. ESPN has even gotten into it by launching ESPNBet. Unfortunately, if you live in Georgia sports betting isn’t legal here. In December of 2023, Senator Brandon Beach planned to introduce legislation in 2024. Senator Bill Cowsert advanced a sports betting bill SB 172. After the bill was introduced, there was a belief that it’s a long shot from happening. The Senate advanced the bill at the end of January of 2024. On February 1st, the Georgia Senate approved sports betting bill SB 386. There was an amendment that now requires a constitutional amendment approved by…

Sports Turf Company to Renovate Cobb County Schools Football Fields

Sports Turf Company, a specialty sports construction and surfacing company, is proud to announce they have been awarded the renovation project for Cobb County schools to replace the synthetic fields at all 16 of the county’s high schools. This is an exceptionally large replacement contract with a very tight schedule for the project. “This was a major decision for Cobb County staff and the Cobb County Board of Education and will greatly benefit Cobb students who use the county’s stadium fields,” said Cobb County School District Athletic Director Don Baker. “In our judgment, Sports Turf Company and AstroTurf provided the best value for our school system. Along with the play…

Take the 2019 Chevy Blazer to See Two Beautiful Atlanta Stadiums

A couple week ago, we had the honor of checking out the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer. Instead, of riding around town or going out of town we visited a couple of places. We used the vehicle to head to the Falcons home opener on Sunday night. Being that I’m an Eagles fan, we didn’t get the results we wanted, but enjoyed my time. This was a time for me to reconnect with one of my cousins. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is one of the more beautiful stadiums you’ll ever see. During our time there, we met a lot of fans from various places and they shared the same sentiments. The atmosphere was…

Atlanta Falcons Need To Consider New Offensive Coordinator

The Atlanta Falcons are just a couple of years removed from playing in the Super Bowl. And while their roster is largely the same as the one who played in that game, the team looks like a shell of its former self, as the Falcons have struggled to find ways to put points on the board. With their playoff hopes all but gone for 2018, the Falcons need to think about their future, and consider a future without current offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. Sarkisian took over for former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who left the Falcons after their Super Bowl collapse to take the head coaching job of the San…

Rose Classic Basketball Tournament Starting June 11th in Atlanta

One of my favorite memories growing up was playing basketball for various AAU teams. For all of you that’s not familiar with AAU, that’s where the best players from around the country participate in. Many calls it AAU, but some call it Travel Ball for basketball. If you love to watch the best players in the country, Atlanta will be the place to be starting June 11th. The Rose Classic Basketball tournament makes it way to Duluth High School from June 11th– June 13th. The championship game will be held on June 14th at Georgia Tech. The tournament brings together many of the nation’s top high school, travel, and AAU…

Matt Ryan Signs Historic Contract Extension with Falcons

After Kirk Cousins signed with the Minnesota Vikings for $84 million guaranteed, everyone knew Matt Ryan was next. Many expected his new deal would be higher than Cousins and it was. Matt Ryan signed another 5-year extension, but this time it’s for $150 million with a whopping $100 million guaranteed. In the process, Matt Ryan have become the first player in the NFL to average a $30 million dollar a year average. Ryan, who will turn 33 on May 17, was entering the final year of a five-year, $103.75 million extension he signed in July 2013. The contracts of Ryan and Cousins are followed by San Francisco’s Jimmy Garoppolo ($27.5…

Mark Fox Fired After 9 Seasons at Georgia

Georgia fired coach Mark Fox on Saturday, sources told ESPN. Intermediaries on behalf of the Bulldogs began reaching out to gauge the interest of potential replacements over the past several days, sources said. Todd Turner and Collegiate Sports Associates are expected to be retained to help with the search. Fox, 49, was hired in 2009 and took the Bulldogs to a pair of NCAA tournaments in nine seasons. Georgia went in 2011 and 2015, but the program failed to go after that. Georgia was 39-29 in 2015-16 and 2016-17, making back-to-back NIT appearances. This season, the Bulldogs are 18-15 and are likely to miss out on the NCAA tournament yet…

Chipper Jones Headlines 2018 Hall of Fame Class

Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Jim Thome and Trevor Hoffman were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, it was announced Wednesday. Jones and Thome were both elected in their first year of eligibility. This is the fourth time that the Baseball Writers’ Association of America has elected four players in a year (1947, 1955, 2015). “It was waterworks,” said Jones, who drew 97.2 percent of the vote after being selected on 410 of 422 ballots. The four will join veterans committee inductees Jack Morris and Alan Trammell in entering the Baseball Hall of Fame on July 29 in Cooperstown, New York. It took 75 percent for election, or 317 votes, to be elected into the…

Bazemore Game Winner Drops the Pelicans

With a chance to win the game, Kent Bazemore wasn’t the first option for the Atlanta Hawks. He wound up with the ball — and it worked out just fine. Bazemore swished a jumper over Anthony Davis with 2.1 seconds remaining and the Hawks rallied from 19 points down to beat the New Orleans Pelicans 94-93 Wednesday, thrilling a sparse crowd on an icy night in Atlanta. The Hawks wanted to go to Ersan Ilyasova in the corner, but the Pelicans thwarted that play. So Dennis Schroder passed instead to the 6-foot-5 Bazemore, who feigned a drive before pulling up from 18 feet to hit the shot against the…

Georgia Falls to Alabama In National Title Game

The line to get into the Georgia locker room as the confetti stopped falling inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium was almost as bad as the lines to get through the general admission gates an hour before kickoff, without the understandable excuse of the Secret Service clearing the way for the president. It got worse when Bulldogs senior tight end Jeb Blazevich attracted the attention of the first cameras into the locker room, choking off half of the entryway as he began to answer questions about what it was like to fall on the losing end of one of the best finishes to a college football national championship game since the turn of…

Falcons Beat Rams, Advance to Play Eagles in Divisional Round

It’s been an inconsistent season for the Falcons. But the team that showed up to beat the Rams 26-13 in Wild Card play looked like a team that can get back to a Super Bowl this year. The Rams didn’t make it easy on them. Aaron Donald harassed Matt Ryan all night long. He finished with just half of a sack and one hit, but even on the plays where he didn’t take Ryan down, his presence was felt. His pressure disrupted Ryan’s timing and forced him into less-than-ideal throws. The Falcons had to settle for field goals on four of six scoring drives. But things shifted for Atlanta in the third quarter, when they finally got a…

Atlanta Losing Streak Ends at 8; Beats Cleveland

Coming off LeBron James’ 57-point performance, it appeared the Cavaliers had finally gained some momentum. A team that hadn’t won since its season opener proved otherwise. Dennis Schroder scored 28 points and the injury-riddled Atlanta Hawks ended an eight-game losing streak, beating skidding Cleveland 117-115 on Sunday. The Hawks hadn’t won since beating Dallas on Oct. 18 and were missing five players, but the Cavaliers went down to yet another puzzling loss. James, who had 26 points and 13 rebounds, was soaking his feet in a tub of ice water and had ice wraps on both knees and his right elbow following the game. He didn’t have an explanation for…

Dennis Schroder Injury, Will Miss Tonight’s Game in Miami

Hawks guard Dennis Schroder left Sunday’s game against the Nets with an apparent ankle injury. Late in the fourth quarter, Schroder drove for a layup. When Schroder went to jump for the attempt, his left foot planted on Nets guard Caris Levert’s foot, and he appeared to roll his ankle. Schroder immediately left the game and needed assistance as he was taken to the locker room. He was unable to put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off.   Source: SI.com   My Conclusion This is unfortunate as he lead the team in points and assists. With this being such a young and inexperienced team, this will…

Atlanta Dropped by Dwight Howard and Charlotte

Dwight Howard couldn’t suppress a wide smile when asked if he gained any personal satisfaction from his performance Friday night against his former Atlanta teammates. “Uh, yeah,” Howard said with a laugh. “I just wanted to go out there and dominate — and that has to be my mentality every night.” Kemba Walker scored 26 points, Howard was a major force inside with 20 points and 15 rebounds in his first home game with Charlotte, and the Hornets rallied to beat the Hawks 109-91. The Hornets trailed by as many as 20 in the first half, but used a 24-0 run in the third quarter to blow the game open.…

Atlanta Hawks Win Opener On Road Against Dallas

Dennis Schroder’s first game as the front man for the Atlanta Hawks just happened to be the night that countryman Dirk Nowitzki joined Kobe Bryant as the only players to reach 20 seasons with the same team. The young guard showed Germany’s aging icon that maybe he can be the face of a franchise as well. Schroder scored 28 points, fellow Euro standout Marco Belinelli added 20 in his first game for Atlanta and the rebuilding Hawks spoiled rookie Dennis Smith Jr.’s solid Dallas debut, beating the Mavericks 117-111 in the opener Wednesday. “He is about to retire,” Schroder said of the 39-year-old Nowitzki. “And to have a battle against…
