2Pac at Coachella

Coachella is a music and arts festival which is organized by Goldenvoice and held at the Empire Polo Club in Indigo, California held in the Inland Empire’s Coachella Valley. This event brings all genres of music from hip hop, rock, indie, electronic music, as well as large sculptured art. The event has several stages/tents set-up throughout the grounds, each playing live music continuously. The main stages are: Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, and the Sahara Ten. On May 31, 2011, Goldenvoice announced that the festival will be held over two separate weekends, starting in 2012. The event showcase not only up-and-coming artists but also man reunions have taken place at the event.

This year’s most talked about event was during the set featuring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg when everything when black and then a familiar figure appeared and it was none other than 2Pac. Yeah I know you’re thinking, hold up, he’s been dead for over 15 years but this Hollywood company Digital Domain with technology invented by Dimensional Studios and the performance was realized by AC Concepts.

After Pac gave a shoutout to the crowd and shouted out Dre and Snoop, he proceeded to do “Hail Mary” while basically moving around like he did and then was joined by Snoop, who asked him what kind of party do they have before they start doing there song, 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted from Pac’s All Eyez On Me album. Seeing them together brought back alot of memories and thinking about what could’ve been if he didn’t die and made me relive that moment when I found out when my favorite artist of all time had died. Then Snoop exited the stage while Pac finished his verse and then he stood there with his head down and heavenly angelic music played and his image disintegrated into particles.

The idea of the 2Pac hologram was an idea of Dr. Dre, which is rumored to cost between 100 to 400K. Also it is rumored that Dre and Snoop are going to use it when they go on tour. So maybe the hologram will make an appearance at a future concert.

Check Out Bobby Capri

As many of you know who may follow my site or follow me on twitter, I love music. As a matter a fact I used to do a little rapping and writing when I was younger and still do from time to time. So when it comes to artists out there on there grind, I have so much respect for the ones out there trying to follow dreams. So I love using the my site to help promote these artists. Recently I had a chance to have an interview with and up-and-coming independent artist, Bobby Capri, who is promoting his new video, Rent’s Due.

Now let’s get to know more about Bobby Capri.

1. Just tell a little about yourself?

My name is Bobby Capri. I’m an artist signed to Heavy Green Ent. outta NYC by way of Virginia.

2. Who are some of your influences in music?

I have a lot of musical influences. I grew up listening to everything from country to rock. So you’re likely to hear anything ranging from Garth Brooks to Journey to Michael Jackson references.

3. Some artists you would love to collaborate with?

I’d love to work with Kanye West most I believe. He’s so artistic and creative. But really there’s a lot of great artist out right now that’d I’d want to work with. Jay-Z, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, Drake…this could go on.

4. Describe your style?

I like to describe my style as slick/real/raw/creative…I’m big on lyrics and flow. I like to spit bars that you will catch the obvious punch line and meaning I wanted you to hear, but still have another layer of meaning that may take you several times later to pick up on. I take a lot from everyday life situations and observations and feelings and turn them into something dope.

5. Any upcoming shows you want to let everyone know about?

I’ve got a show on 4/20 at The National in Richmond that should be pretty dope. I’ll also be opening up for the Yin Yang Twins March 28th at James Madison University and some of the proceeds will be given to MADD and a couple coming up in Baltimore. However, I’m really just focused on completing this next project I’ve got coming out entitled “Instant Gratification” so be on the lookout  for that.

6. How long have you been involved with music?

I’ve been involved with music for 15 years. I started rapping when I was 13. I also record and engineer. I’ve been working at a studio here in Virginia for almost 6 years now.

7. What was some of your first memories of music growing up?

Well, I remember when my parents got their first stereo with a cd player so they only had a handful of CDs which were Guns&Roses, Fleetwood Mac, CCR, Cher, and Travis Tritt. So when I think back I think of those albums and songs. We always had music playing in the house and in the car.

8. Is there a particular artist or song that made you want to get into music?

No. Not really. I just remember around 97-98 listening to Biggie, Jay, X, Nas and just having the urge to write rhymes of my own and I’ve been rapping ever since.

9.Also before I let you go, everyone does the top 5 dead or alive. Could you name your 5 favorite rappers?

1.Dylan
2.Dylan
3.Dylan
4.Dylan
5.Dylan

Haha just kidding…Nice Chapelle reference.

1.Jay-Z
2.Kanye West
3.Drake
4.Young Jeezy
5.Biggie

It was nice to get to talk to Bobby Capri and wish him much success in the future. Also you can check him out either on his youtube page, facebook page or on twitter.

Interview with Underground Artist Loch

I like to take the time to announce that here at Daddys Hangout that I love to do write-ups and interviews with musical artists, whether it’s Hip Hop or R&B. I am a huge fan of music and I’m happy to do my first one with underground Indie artist Loch, who reps the ATL. His youtube channel http://youtube.com/lochofmceo has over 100 freestyles and real videos. He also have a DVD called Hip Hop Sucks which you can view the trailer on his youtube channel also. He’s currently working on a new mixtape called  Afro American Horror Story and an album Afro American Psycho which is based off American Psycho. So we hit Loch up with a few questions to let you get to know him a little better, some of his influences and where you can catch him perform.

Just tell everyone a little about yourself?

I was born in Detroit, Michigan on the West Side of 8 Mile. I moved to Atlanta at about 10 yrs old. I lived in Marietta, GA until about 16 then moved around mostly in ATL and Marietta. I use to do freestyle battles on 107.9 on a show called The Emergency Room hosted by DJ Mars and later ET. I also worked on 107.9 w/ Coco Brother and I was in a group called Thirst and Loch, that got mix show play on a couple of songs. I have performed with T.I, David Banner, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, D4L, Ceelo, Bone Crusher, Killer Mike, 2 Chainz, OJ the Juiceman,Young Dro, Philly’s Most Wanted, Boot Camp Click and more. I love horror movies, dark humor, South Park, The Boondocks and weed.I have a company called MCEO Ent. and I’m working with my people Moverite Ent w/ this Moverite campaign.

Who are some of your influences in music?

Rakim, Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, 2Pac, Eminem, Royce 5’9″, Ras Kass, Kurupt, Nas

Some artists you would love to collaborate with?

I’m about to put together a song w/ Ras Kass. Any member of Slaughterhouse, A couple of local hot acts like The 5 and Journey Brave, Eminem, Tech N9ne, Killer Mike, Andre 3000. My partners Moverite (Doom, PG the Great, The God Rod) Kamp Kaos(Maestrolungs, Vic legend, Mr. Wonderful) Snakez Santiago and Thirst.

Describe your style?

I’m very versatile, but I’m a lyricist and wordsmith. I come from the battle era so my style is aggressive like east coast MC w/elements of Southern and Midwest hip hop. Right now w/my new project Afro American Psycho, it’s all about my dark humor side mixed with real life emotions. I think this project most defines Loch musically. I just like to go in lyrically.

Any upcoming shows would you like to let everyone know about?

Right now I’m gearing up to promote my mixtape Afro American Horror Story and album Afro American Psycho. In ATL you can catch me all over, but the underground is my home. Apache Cafe and Cloud 9 are spots I perform at a lot. I plan on doing Hip Hop DX’s get Your Buzz up in NY in about 2 months. Other than that I’m rocking wherever I can.

How long have you been involved with music?

I have been rapping since about 9 yrs old. In high school my friends had a group called Native Nuttz, who were signed to now super producer DJ Toomp. I was rapping before I met them, but seeing them doing it at such an early age made it real for me. We came up in that era before Outkast blew up. We were doing showcases when they were bubbling and about to go big.

What are some of your first memories of music growing up?

Detroit was a very musical city and my mother played all the songs of that time and the past. The first song that caught my attention really was New Edition Mr. Telephone Man. Then I remember seeing commercials for The Fat Boys and Run DMC concerts and thinking it was the coolest shit I had ever seen. Micheal Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan, Phil Collins and a lot of great 80′s music is where music first hit me.

Is there a particular artist or song that made you want to get into music?

Michael Jackson, Motown 25, The Glove and The Moonwalk

Also before I let you go, everyone does the top 5 dead or alive. Could you name your 5 favorite rappers?

Rakim, 2Pac, Eminem, Jay Z and Nas
