Four Tips Dads Can Use for Relieving Stress

As a father, it can be easy to get bogged down in the stresses of a job, providing for a family and everything else that goes into being a successful dad. But if you don’t handle your stress productively and regularly, it can start negatively affecting your health. The longer you let it go, the worse it can get. If you want to relieve your stress effectively so you can be around for many years to come, consider utilizing the following five tips.

1.Exercise – I know the “e” word isn’t in the vocabulary of many dads, but it is essential for relieving your stress. Exercising helps to increase your blood flow which is good for the body. And it doesn’t have to be strenuous, either. Play a couple games of golf each week or take the family hiking. You can even play basketball with the guys or do some other activity to get that heart rate pumping and achieve better health.

2.Have some alone time. Everybody needs to just be left alone from time to time. We like to be with our thoughts because it can rejuvenate our body and our mind. If you have a long commute to work, use this as your alone time by listening to your favorite music, an audiocassette or anything else that helps you unwind.

3.Go out with friends. Playing or watching sports helps you blow off a lot of steam. But when you do it with a group of friends, it can help you unwind because it provides a type of escape from your stress. Pick a game each week that you and your friends can get together and watch and you will feel the stress melting away as you have something to look forward to all the time.

4.Go outdoors. Getting fresh air is an effective way to deal with stress in your life. Even if you just take a brisk walk around the block each evening, you will fell less stressed so you can enjoy the rest of the evening with your family.

Releasing the stress from your body isn’t always going to be easy. It may be difficult to find the time or even motivate yourself to do these things. But thinking about being around for your children and grandchildren should be motivation enough to make it happen.

Men's skin care

Do you think men face problems in skincare products? I would say “yes”. As with any market that proves itself profitable, most companies have recognized this trend, and are generally quick to throw out their new product to quickly cash-in on this new trend. Are they throwing out their products too quickly? I do believe allot seem to be. Over the past several years there has definitely been a sizeable rise in the sales of men’s skincare products. Now, men have a comparable opportunity to waste their cash on unnecessary and problematic skin care products as women do.

Think about this, As a man, while shaving, so you experience razor burn? Do you think it’s the way that you shave that’s giving you razor burn? Take it from me, as a man, I shave a lot. I personally use similar products that my pops used. I experienced razor burn. I thought it was the way I did it. To figure out what was really going on, I had to find out what razor burn really is. Razor burn is a series of ingrown hairs. Most shaving creams contain irritating ingredients such as alcohol, menthol mint, and camphor, as well as high quantities of potassium or sodium hydroxide. These skin irritants result in the hair follicle and skin swell, forcing the hair up and away from the skin, supposedly allowing for a closer shave. Unfortunately, the irritation and resulting swelling cause many of the hairs to be hidden by the swollen follicle and skin. Note that sodium hydroxide is used in many skin care products at very low levels(the lesser amount in the ingredient list on the label) to adjust the ph value. In these low quantities it is not irritating to skin. Additionally the swollen skin makes it harder for the stubble to find its way back out. If hair begins to grow ( and it almost immediately does) before the swelling is reduced, the likelihood of ingrown hairs are increased.

When it comes to shaving, what can men do to take care of the skin on their face? Well, to start with, all men need a gentle, water soluble cleanser, a gentle shave product, either foam, cream, or gel, followed by a gentle, non-irritating aftershave or shaving lotion( which is a masculine name for a gentle toner) an ideal aftershave product for men would be an aspirin based topical product that uses an additional potent inti-irritants. Aspirin is a very effective anti-inflammatory agent for irritated skin and is able to alleviate the redness and razor burn/bumps.

When it comes to skin care, us guys aren’t any different from women. our skin is the same. So just use your girlfriend’s, or your mom’s, or your sister’s. it will work the same way it works for her and will give you the same results that you are looking for..

Men – are you getting the Health Screening Tests You need to have?

Ok Men I know how much we hate to go to the doctor. I would rather hear my wife bitching all day instead of taking a trip to the Dr’s office.  What most of us men don’t know that There are seven recommended health screenings that all of us men should consider having for our own good health and long life.  All seven tests might not apply to everyone.   Only four of the tests, however, apply to all men so go get your health screenings and start preventing any health issues that you can now before they get out of control and require you more office visits then you like.

Testing Your Blood Pressure

You should have your Blood Pressure checked at least every 2 years. You need to see your Dr. for this. Blood pressure machines at the drug stores are not going to cut it..High blood pressure does not have any symptoms and you won’t even know you have a problem until it is too late and a stroke cuts you off at the knees.

Health Screening Tests for Cholesterol

Most men just don’t believe they have High Cholesterol and don’t take the time to have it checked. For most men, you should have your cholesterol checked every 5 years starting at 35. However, if you smoke, have diabetes, or if heart disease runs in your family, you need to start testing at the early age of 20.

If you are overweight – you need to get that check up now no matter what your age.

Diabetes Screening

If you have high blood pressure and or high cholesterol, your physician is going to test for Diabetes. If you are overweight, your physician is probably going to run this screen at the same time as the cholesterol screening.

Colorectal Cancer Health Screening Tests

Regular Colorectal Cancer testing should begin at 50. There is more than one kind of test available, so don’t chicken out. Just get it done.

Prostate Cancer Screening

Talk to your doctor about the possible benefits and harms of prostate cancer screening if you are considering having a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test or digital rectal examination (DRE).

Sexually Transmitted Diseases

You need to be up front with your physician on this subject. You also need to consider an HIV problem if you have ever had a blood transfusion. Hiding your head in the sands of denial will not change the reality of the situation.

Depression Screening

This is probably the most controversial subject after sexually transmitted diseases. Many men were brought up to “bite the bullet” and keep quiet about any problems they are having. Generations of women have complained that their men just don’t share. Everyone goes through periods of depression occasionally and for most people those periods only last for a few days and it is easy to say the reason why you are depressed. There are certain “acceptable” reasons for depression – losing a job, illness or death of a loved-one, or work stress just to name a few. However, if you’ve felt sad, or hopeless, or have little interest or pleasure in doing things or if you just want to sleep all the time for a period of 2 weeks straight, talk to your doctor. You might find that with just a little help you can get back to your normal happy self.

Do not allow your physician to just put you on anti-depressants. Taking pills without doing something to change the situation or your attitude will only make it worse in the long run.
