Mystikal Ain’t No Limit for Throwback Thursday

Once again, we have arrived at another Thursday which means it’s almost the weekend. My playlist this week only consisted of Fat Joe’s Loyalty album and 112’s Pleasure and Pain. Since I’ve been home all week the only album that was played was Unpredictable from Mystikal. Mystikal will be the featured artist this week. The Unpredictable album was his No Limit Records debut and it went on to go platinum. The Unpredictable album was the first No Limit project Snoop jumped on as he still wasn’t signed to the label. Speaking of No Limit Records, on July 29th BET will start the 5-part series about their rise. No Limit Records…

Master P Mia X Thinkin Bout U for Throwback Thursday

Once again, we have arrived at another Thursday which means it’s almost Friday. My playlist this week consisted of Griselda, Big Krit, a Rick Ross mixtape and Kendrick’s To Pimp a Butterfly album. Once again, this was another great week of music. Last week, we highlighted the late, great Soulja Slim and this week we’re staying with the No Limit theme. Master P’s Da Last Don album was one of the featured joints this week. If you remember this time, Master P said this was to be his final album ever. Da Last Don was a double album and would’ve been a great album to ride off in the sunset.…

Soulja Slim From What I Was Told for Throwback Thursday

Once again, we have arrived at another Thursday. Of course, this is one step closer to the weekend. My playlist for the week included Soulja Slim, about 4 mixtapes and E-40’s In a Major Way. We will focus on the late, great Soulja Slim for our Throwback Thursday. Give It 2 Em Raw was his No Limit debut and it was an incredible album. From What I Was Told is the featured track and it was also featured on the I Got the Hook Up Soundtrack. Soulja Slim’s debut album went on to go gold. Slim is looked at as a New Orleans legend. Unfortunately, he passed away in November…

Second Half of 2019 Throwback Thursday

It’s hard to believe that 2019 will be history in a few short days. What’s even crazier is that we’re entering another decade. I’m hoping you all had a very Merry Christmas with your loved ones. With this being the final Throwback Thursday, we like to do a playlist. At the end of June, we put out the First Half of 2019 playlist. We can’t do one without the other, so we’ve put the second half on a playlist also. I’m pretty sure you’ll find something to your liking with this one. We’ve touched some hip hop and we also got some classic R&B stuff also. Check out the track…

Master P Only God Can Judge Me Dropped 20 Years Ago Today

I’ve mentioned many times that Death Row Records is my favorite label of all-time. No Limit Records is my second favorite label ever. During their run, Master P was dropping a new album damn near every week. While Master P was running the label, he also was the biggest seller also. To me, Master P doesn’t get the credit he deserves. 20 years ago today, Master P released his 8th album, Only God Can Judge Me. If you remember that far, this was the return to the rap game for Master P. The year before, Master P said his double album, Da Last Don was his final album. Only God…

Master P Mr. Ice Cream Man for Throwback Thursday

Master P doesn’t get the proper credit he deserves in the hip hop community. Master P helped Snoop Dogg’s career and brought the business mind to rap. No Limit Records is my second favorite rap label of all-time. Master P put out so many artists during their run. Recently, it has been announced that Master P have put together a No Limit Reunion Tour. Master P, Mia X, Snoop Dogg, Fiend, Mr. Serv-On, Mystikal, Silkk the Shocker and more. Master P put out a few album before blowing up, but Ice Cream Man started everything for me. It’s been over 23 years since Master P released the classic album. My Throwback…

Best of Suave House Records for Mixtape Friday

Friday is finally here and that means it’s time for another Mixtape Friday. Last week’s Very Best of Jadakiss was well-received and this time we have another gem. One of my favorite record labels growing was Suave House Records. Many people remember Suave House Records being the home of 8Ball & MJG. 8Ball & MJG are one of my favorite duos ever in hip hop. Suave House Records was also the home of Tela, South Circle and Mr. Mike. In addition to the four albums from 8Ball & MJG, Tela released his classic Piece of Mind album. South Circle dropped one album called Anotha Day, Anotha Dolla. Mr. Mike is…

No Limit Top Dogg Released 20 Years Ago Today

Snoop Dogg is as legendary as you can get when he comes to a rapper. No Limit Top Dogg was Snoop’s fourth album and second on No Limit was released 20 years ago today. With the debut No Limit album, Snoop had more of the No Limit sound and a lot of people didn’t like it. For me, Da Game is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told was a dope album and had some bangers on there. No Limit Top Dogg was more of the original Death Row Snoop Dogg sound. No Limit Top Dogg went on to sell two millions records and Snoop had a slew of features…

Daddy’s Hangout Presents Mixtape Friday Volume 13

Are you ready for the weekend? We have reached Friday and hopefully it’ll be nice this weekend wherever you’re located. With it being Friday, you know it’s time for another Mixtape Friday. We started the week off with the Instructions joint from Jermaine Dupri. This was the follow up to his Life in 1472 project. Up next was the Ice Cream Man from Master P. When it comes to the Ice Cream Man, that’s one of the southern classic from the mid-90s. The Champ is Here Pt. 3 from Jadakiss followed. The Jadakiss Mixtape was hosted by DJ Drama and DJ Green Lantern, which unfortunately isn’t available for streaming. My…

Mixtape Friday is the Best of Throwback Thursday for 2018

It’s hard to believe that we’re about to enter a new year. 2019 is right around the corner and now it’s time to gear up for more challenges as we head into another year. Before that, let’s find something to celebrate about. The first thing you need is some music and that’s what I’m here for. While scrolling on my site I couldn’t believe I haven’t done a Mixtape Friday in well over two years. This year I’m planning on doing one every week. My Throwback Thursday was poppin’ throughout the year and hopefully that’ll continue also. With this being the final weekend of 2018, why not bring back Mixtape…

I Miss My Homies by Master P for Throwback Thursday

Ghetto D from Master P is one of the more influential albums in the south. No Limit Records and Master P were putting a series of classic before Ghetto D dropped. Down South Hustlas, I’m Bout It Soundtrack, Ice Cream Man and many other classic projects. Outside of Death Row, No Limit is my favorite rap labels ever. It’s been over 20 years since Ghetto D dropped and you can say that after Pac & Big died, Master P took the torch. One of the standout tracks on the album features Silkk the Shocker and Pimp C. I Miss My Homies is the featured Throwback Thursday track for the day.…

C Murder Releases Life or Death 20 Years Ago Today

I’ve mentioned many times how No Limit Records is my second favorite hip hop label of all-time. They put out so many classic albums and you couldn’t get any better than Life or Death. C Murder’s debut album is a straight up classic and one of my all-time favorite albums. Being from the south, it pissed me off when music publications didn’t give Life or Death its proper respect back in the day. Currently C Murder is locked up and hopefully he’ll get a fair shake in things. 20 years ago today, C Murder released his classic, debut album Life or Death. The album featured UGK, the entire No Limit…

I’m Bout It Soundtrack Released 20 Years Ago Today

One of my favorite record labels of all-time is No Limit Records. During the late-90s, Master P and No Limit was releasing albums damn near every week. Guess what, I was buying every album they dropped also and remember CDs wasn’t cheap back then either. Master P, C-Murder, Mia X, Silkk the Shocker, Mystikal, Fiend, Mac and Soulja Slim were just a few of the artists I supported. Master P not only released great albums, but he was making movies and dropping great soundtracks also. 20 years ago today, Master P released the soundtrack to his movie I’m Bout It. This was the first movie Master P released and I…

UGK Greatest Hits- The Very Best of Bun B & Pimp C

First off, the tracks I picked were some of my favorite tracks from UGK. Whether it’s on the UGK albums, Bun B or Pimp C solo albums and then I included features on other albums, whether it’s them together or when it was just one of them on the track. UGK is one of my favorite groups of all-time and this is something I’ve been wanting to put it together so I finally done it. It’s 69 tracks and it’s a 4 Disc set. Hope you enjoy it and would love some feedback, once again there may be songs on here you may not like or songs you think should…
