Mack 10 & Tha Dogg Pound Nothin But the Cavi Hit

Welcome to another Thursday and you know that mean we are closer to the weekend. My playlist for the week started out with the Stillmatic album from Nas. One album that haven’t been played for years was the Rigomortiz joint by DMG. Eve’s Eve-Olution, a personal J. Cole mixtape and the joint Scrappy/Trillville joint also made the cut. The featured track comes from the classic Rhyme & Reason Soundtrack that dropped in the late 90s. The Rhyme & Reason had 8Ball & MJG, RZA, Busta Rhymes, Tribe, Master P and many more. The Throwback Thursday joint is from some west coast legends Mack 10 & Tha Dogg Pound. Nothin’ But…

Sam Sneed U Better Recognize Featuring Dr. Dre

First off, Happy New Year to everyone out there. Hope you had a wonderful beginning to the new year and nothing but continued blessings throughout it. Welcome to Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. My first playlist of the year started off on the R&B tip. Where I Wanna Be from Donnell Jones, 702’s No Doubt and Unpredictable from Jaime Foxx started things off. The new Nas joint, All Eyez on Me from Pac and the latest Busta Rhymes joint made the playlist. There were a couple others, but that was enough to last me throughout the week. Any of those albums would produce a great…

Smoothe the Hustler Only Human for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend again. The first album to be played this week was the new joint from Rick Ross. Richer than I Ever Been was another dope project from Ross. We hit the south up once again for some bangers. The Burning Bridges EP from Ludacris and the Inspiration by Jeezy made the list. Chingy’s debut project, Jackpot also made the list for the week. J. Cole’s The Come Up and DAMN from Kendrick Lamar was also played. Ludacris Word of Mouf Released 20 Years Ago Today

Ludacris is known as one of the best lyricists to ever touch the mic despite his playful delivery. Ludacris first hit the scene worldwide over 20 years ago. Back for the First Time was his debut album and it hit hard by selling over 3 million copies. The album produced several hits like Southern Hospitality and What’s Your Fantasy. Those hits made him one of the biggest rappers in the world at the turn of the century. Unfortunately, Ludacris haven’t dropped an album in over 6 years. These days you can catch him doing movies like Fast and the Furious and being an entrepreneur. 20 years ago today, Ludacris dropped…

Young Dro Hear Me Cry for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. My playlist this week consisted of a few mixtapes. Southern Smoke 16, DJ J-Boogie’s Heavy D tribute and a classic from DJ Cuttnice were all played. The Doctor’s Advocate from Game, G Code from Juvenile and T-Pain’s debut joint also made the list. There are a few that could have been the featured track, but I’ll go in another direction. One of the albums that was played was a personal mixtape I made several years ago. The mixtape featured 50 Cent, Nas, 2Pac, Beanie Sigel and Jay-Z. One artist that also made an appearance on the mixtape…

The Game Doctor’s Advocate Turns 15 Years Old Today

The Game has carved out a legendary career for himself in his almost 20 years in the rap game. In 2005, he dropped his debut project The Documentary and it’s one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. The Documentary went on to go triple platinum as it was released in January of 2005. Less than two years later, he dropped his second album Doctor’s Advocate. The first album was with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent through Aftermath and G-Unit Records. Between the two albums, there were a lot of drama between the Game and 50 Cent. The beef with them started with 50 Cent kicking The Game out of…

2Pac Released His Debut Album 30 Years Ago Today

Man time sure does fly by really fast, doesn’t it? We’ve celebrated the 25 year anniversary of Pac’s passing a couple of months ago. It’s hard to believe he dropped 2Pacalypse Now 30 years ago. To give you a broader view, he was recording this revolutionary album when he was 19-years-old. To put that in proper contents, listen to the rappers nowadays that’s in their late teens and early-20s, see the difference? I’m sure if you follow everything on my site, on Instagram, Twitter or know me personally, 2Pac is my all-time favorite. I mean you know it because I say it in all of my stuff. I’ll share a…

Makaveli Hold Ya Head for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday, which means we are closer to the weekend. My playlist had a little bit of everything as always. We had some new flavor from Don Tolliver and Moneybagg Yo, plus a couple of personal mixes I’ve made. Tela’s Piece of Mind, LL Cool J and his Mr. Smith joint and Coolio’s Gangstas Paradise was also played. Cash Money records was represented with the No Ceilings joint from Wayne and Birdman’s debut solo album. With tomorrow being the 25th anniversary of Tela’s Piece of Mind and 2Pac’s Makaveli album it came down to those two. We all know I’m a huge Pac fan, so we are going…

Wale Released Ambition 10 Years Ago Today

It’s hard to believe that Wale has been on the scene ever since 2009. Wale dropped his first album in November of 2009, and it was called Attention Deficit. Unfortunately, he parted ways with his label but was scooped up by Rick Ross and Maybach Music Group. Almost two years to the day, Wale released his second album and MMG debut. Ambition was the name and it featured Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Ne-Yo, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Miguel & Jeremih. Lotus Flower Bomb was released prior to the album, and it featured Miguel. Lotus Flower Bomb was a success as it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap…

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. It has been a while since I’ve done Throwback Thursday because I was dealing with Covid. The Great Depression from DMX, Ironman from Ghostface and the new joint from Meek Mill was also played. Here I Stand from Usher and the Unplugged album from Alicia Keys also made the playlist. J. Cole Sideline Story for Throwback Thursday

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend once again. My playlists this week consisted of some old school hip hop from the 80s and 90s. The Raising Hell joint from Run DMC, Doug E. Fresh and Kwame represented the 80s. Master P’s The Good Side Disc 1 and Dayton Family’s FBI joint were from artists of the 90s. The new album from the Outlawz called One Nation was also bumped and it was really good. For my Throwback Thursday, we are turning to J. Cole who happens to be one of my favorite newer artists. On Monday September 27th, J. Cole’s debut album Cole…

The Sound of Revenge from Chamillionaire and the New Jersey Drive Soundtrack followed that. Pusha T’s Wrath of Caine, plus the What the Game’s Been Missing project by Juelz Santana also made the playlist. The classic album of the week was the debut album from Lupe Fiasco called Food and Liquor. Food and Liquor was a highly anticipated album after his classic feature on Kanye’s Touch the Sky. Million Dollar Spot from E-40 Featuring 2Pac and B-Legit

Welcome to another Thursday as that mean we are closer to the weekend. This should be a special one because many will have a much needed 3-day weekend. Hood Billionaire by Rick Ross, Crime Family from TRU and Checkmate by B.G. were the first played. The Carter 4 from Lil Wayne, about 3 mixtapes, Kane & Abel’s My Brother’s Keepers and HNIC by Prodigy also made the playlist. For my featured Throwback Thursday track, we are going to highlight the Hall of Game joint by E-40. This is probably my favorite project from 40 Water and the track, Rapper’s Ball has already been featured. The album featured his group The…

Outkast ATLiens Released 25 Years Ago Today

Outkast is regarded as one of the best hip hop duos to ever touch the mic. Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik was their debut back in 1994 and it was a classic. The album introduced the Goodie Mob and their first album, Soul Food was also a classic. The hip hop community was waiting to hear some new music from Outkast. Early in the summer of 1996, they released the first single, Elevators for their upcoming album. The album was called ATLiens and it was released 25 years ago today. The Shocker From Silkk Turns 25 Today

No Limit Records is one of my favorite record labels of all-time. Death Row Records is my number one, but No Limit is a close second. Silkk the Shocker was one of the bigger artists during their time at the top. 25 years ago today, Silkk released his debut album The Shocker. The Shocker was released at a time when No Limit was starting to make a name for themselves. Back in the spring of 1996, Master P dropped his Ice Cream Man album. The Ice Cream Man album went platinum and No Limit was no longer just a popular southern act. Four months later, Silkk came with his debut…

The Friday Night Lights mixtape from J. Cole and the Ghetto Commission from No Limit Records got some play. My featured Throwback Thursday track comes from an album that just celebrated its 20-year anniversary. Kiss Tha Game Goodbye from Jadakiss is that album as his name…

Rick Ross Released Port of Miami 15 Years Ago

Rick Ross is one of the better rappers we’ve seen over the last 20 years. To be honest, Ross has one of the better discographies of any rapper to ever touch the mic. It all started 15 years ago when Rick Ross released his debut album, Port of Miami. The platinum selling Port of Miami first single was a mega-hit when it was released. Hustlin’ was the name and it was one of the biggest hits of the summer of 2006. Hustlin’ went platinum and even had Jay-Z and Jeezy on the remix. Push It was the only other single released off the Port of Miami. Unfortunately, Push It didn’t…
