Monday Night Raw Review from Richmond July 2014

Monday_Night_Raw

This week’s Raw is live from Richmond, Virginia and this is the go-home show with the Battleground PPV this Sunday. We get to see what will happen between John Cena, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton and Kane, the 4 guys that’s involved in the main event. What’s next between Bray Wyatt and Chris Jericho, along with the Wyatt Family and the Usos. Also, we’ll see what’s going on with the contestants in the Intercontinental Battle Royal. Let’s see what’s going on this week on Monday Night Raw!!!

Good

The Opening Segment: Nice opener with Cena and Reigns playing mind games with each other before Dean Ambrose interrupted them on the Titantron. Couple of minutes later he was attacked by Orton, Rollins and Kane. How cool is Ambrose? After getting beat down by those 3 for a couple of minutes, he asked if that’s all they got. My only gripe about this was, why didn’t Cena and Reigns come to help him out?

Sheamus vs. The Miz: This was a really good match, but does Sheamus have bad matches though? This looks like they could be having a little feud brewing and I wouldn’t be mad if it involves the U.S. title.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Fandango: I’m always going to put a Ziggler win as a hit. Man I wish this was the start of some kind of push for Ziggler.

The Wyatts Attacking the Usos: Man this was perfect and I’m looking forward to their 2-out-of-3 falls match @ the Battleground PPV. This took their feud up a notch!!!

Segment with Zeb/Swagger/Lana/Rusev: The crowd was definitely into it and I know they’re doing this to elevate Rusev, but how good is Swagger as a face? The WWE may be onto to something with Zeb & Swagger.

Alberto Del Rio vs. RVD: This was a pretty good match; I like how they’re putting a lot of focus on the IC title with these matches with guys being in the Battle Royal.

Stephanie Beefing with Nikki Bella: It seems like Brie Bella and Stephanie could be on a crash course in the future. Stephanie is taking all her frustrations on Nikki. Nikki has improved a lot in the ring.

Sting Being Showed on WWE Programming: Man I marked out seeing this since Sting is my favorite wrestler of all-time. It seems like Sting has signed a contract because they’re now selling his T-Shirts now. I would love for them to hold his TV debut when they come to Atlanta on October 13th because I’ll be there.

Big E vs. Cesaro: I would love for these 2 guys to feud with each other because I think it could elevate both of them. They’re both strong guys that are really good wrestlers.

Chris Jericho and The Wyatts: I love this feud between Jericho and Bray Wyatt. This could be huge for Bray in the long run because Jericho brings out the best in people.

Best of WCW Nitro: I definitely had to peep this because I was a bigger fan of WCW than WWF back then.

“Nature Boy” Ric Flair: Anytime you have Flair in the ring is a great thing. He’s one of the best, if not the best to ever do it.

John Cena & Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton, Kane & Seth Rollins: Really good main event which served its purpose with all the competitors in the main event. At the end Kane nailed Orton with a punch on accident, Reigns speared Cena on accident and then Orton hit the RKO on Kane. Raw ended with Reigns hitting the spear on Orton!!!

Bad

AJ Lee vs. Eva Marie: Love looking at Eva Marie, but she don’t belong in the ring. I do love the potential of a full-blown AJ/Paige feud.

Ugly

Great Khali vs. Bo Dallas: I’m a Bo-Liever, but anytime I see Khali wrestle it’s a bad thing.

Overall Rating: 9/10- Great Raw that served its purpose to sell the PPV!!! The main event will be interesting with Reigns spearing Cena while Orton and Kane traded blows on each other. The IC title Battle Royal should be interesting and I would really like for someone like a Ziggler, Cesaro or Sandow to win the belt. Had a mark out moment when Sting appeared in the vignette for the WWE 2K game. Just a lot of great action from Raw and I’m looking forward to the PPV this Sunday on WWE Network.
