Bio:

J-Smoove, also known as Jacoby Jelks, is an American music producer/rapper/co-C.E.O. of Ori-G-inO Dynasty. He is from Decatur, IL/ Ripley, TN. After releasing two full length studio albums and several independent albums, he came to fame in …2008 with a song called “One Memphis”, which was inspired by then Memphis mayoral candidate, Mayor A C Wharton. The critically acclaimed song garnered mass media attention including the likes of Fox 13 News Memphis, Leadership Memphis, a non-profit organization, and of course the mayor, himself. Noted for making “clean-rap” classics, J-Smoove’s music is a soulful blend of Hip Hop and R&B. He admits to starting his career making hard-core gangster rap music while performing alongside his two older brothers under the moniker, The Jelks Boys. But after the birth of his first son, he decided it was time to work on becoming more mature; mentally, spiritually and musically. Jacoby has performed at numerous major and minor events. A list would include, but not limit to, The New Daisy Theatre (w/ Al Kapone and Memphis Symphony Orchestra), Hard Rock Café, Ground Zero, Leadership Memphis’ Graduation Ceremony (Cook Convention Center) , Mayor A C Wharton’s Victory Celebration (Minglewood Hall), The Boys and Girls Club, The Levitt Shell, etc. etc. etc.

Having sold tens of thousands of records and a hosting a string of in-store appearances and autograph signings, J-Smoove is no stranger to the hard work and dedication that it takes to be a major success in the music industry. He knows how to build a brand. Also, he produces, writes and performs all of his own material, as well as material for other artists and genres. A master of the trumpet, Jacoby can read sheet music and plus play keyboards and drums by ear. His current releases are “Motion”, a song and video (shot by Memphis photographer Kunjal Pathak), which serves as the sequel to “One Memphis”, and “Bol n Smoove Presents: Ori-G-inO Dynasty”, a free compilation album available for download only at Mixtapepass.com. The album features Memphis legend Al Kapone, Nasty Nardo, Trackman, Scony, Chops-Chino and more. As the music industry struggles to find new ways to provide you with entertainment, Jacoby is fully prepared to continue to bring the excitement! Get used to the name J-Smoove.
