Monday Night Raw Review from Brooklyn October 2014

Monday_Night_Raw

Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw as they are in Brooklyn, New York this week. Last week was one of the better Raw’s they have had in quite some time and hopefully they can capitalize on last week and keep going in the right direction. Let’s Get Started!!!!

Good

The Opening Segment: Seth Rollins came out irate to cut a promo about him being a marked man but Joey Mercury & Jaime Noble told Rollins to leave but Cena came out to attack Rollins until he ran through the crowd where Ambrose attacked him. Eventually that brought out the Authority and they made the handicap main event with Ambrose & Cena against Rollins, Orton & Kane.

Usos & Dolph Ziggler vs. Cesaro, Stardust & Goldust: What a match!!! The crowd was definitely into it and how over is Dolph Ziggler? All 6 of these guys worked their butts off and I’m looking forward to some Dolph/Cesaro matches and the rematch between the Usos/Rhodes.

Wyatt Family Promos: I’m hoping they give Luke Harper the proper push he deserves and still do something with Bray Wyatt in the process.

Bo Dallas vs. Mark Henry: Not because of the match but it was nice to see Dallas get the win. I’m curious to see where they’re going with this thing with Mark Henry.

Dean Ambrose/John Cena Promo: With this promo people had issues with it because they’re not hyping any matches for the Hell in a Cell PPV but I was thinking it was more to this.

Jack Swagger vs. Tyson Kidd: It was nice to see Kidd on Raw but I think they could utilize his talents a little better.

Edge & Christian: It’s always nice to see Edge & Christian!!! Definitely one of my favorite tag teams of all-time and looking forward to checking out their special.

The Return of the Rock: OMG!!!! Did you hear the crowd when his music hit? Say whatever you want to say or the wrestlers can say whatever they want about the Rock but the fans always have and will love the Rock. The crowd every bit of his promo and this has to be a huge rub for Rusev to be in the same ring as one of the greatest of all-time. It ended with the Rock laying the Smackdown on Rusev to end the segment.

Sheamus vs. Miz: This was a pretty good match, but does Sheamus have bad matches? Damien Sandow is so entertaining in the role with the Miz and I just hope they do something with Sandow in the long run.

Joan Lunden Speech: Breast Cancer is a very serious disease that affects so many women and hopefully we will have a cure for this. It was great for Joan and the WWE to devote money and time to bring awareness and honor some of the survivors that were sitting ringside.

Bad

Mini Gator vs. El Torito: The WWE has some talent but this is a waste of time!!!

A.J. Lee & Emma vs. Paige & Alicia Foxx: With the abilities of these ladies this match had potential but AJ walked out on Emma and Paige hit her finisher for the win.

John Cena vs. Randy Orton, Seth Rollins & Kane: Why was there a DQ finish? The match wasn’t good but seeing Dean Ambrose come out with the hot dog stand to attack the Authority. Afterwards, Triple H & Stephanie came out to announce Cena vs. Ambrose at the Hell in a Cell PPV with the winner meeting Rollins. Ambrose attacked Cena after the announcement and hit him with the Dirty Deeds and the crowd loved it.

Ugly

Adam Rose & the Today Show Host: Horrible!!!!

Brie Bella vs. Summer Rae: Summer Rae gets beat with 1 arm tied behind her back!!! Seriously!!!

Overall Rating: 6/10- This was the 2nd consecutive Raw that was better than the previous weeks. It started out with a really good opening segment that was followed by a great 6 man tag match. How great was it to see the Rock show up unannounced? Did you hear the crowd when his music hit and when he hit the ring? This is huge for Rusev because he’s getting a run from one of the greatest of all-time. It was great to see Edge & Christian hyping up their special after Raw, which I saw and it brought back great memories. Dean Ambrose again is shining so much with this opportunity he’s been giving since Roman Reigns & Daniel Bryan are injured, also what about elevating Dolph Ziggler? The involvement from the WWE for the 3rd year in a row for helping with their cancer awareness and honoring some of the victims who’s overcome breast cancer was special and having Joan Lunden address the crowd was really cool.

Top 5 Happenings on Raw:
1) The Return of the Rock
2) Joan Lunden Speaking about her battle with cancer and honoring survivors sitting ringside
3) Dean Ambrose
4) 6 Man Tag Match featuring Dolph Ziggler & Cesaro
5) Edge & Christian
