Welcome to Week 7 of the college football season and last week was a hectic week that could be known as “Showdown Saturday” and my record was 3-4. My record drops from 14-6 down to 17-10 and my winning percentage drops from 70% to 63%. Last week was one of the most exciting weekends of college football in recent memory and I’m glad to say that I watched every game. This week is another good week of football and I’m going to try to elevate my winning percentage by predicting 7 games again this week. Let’s Get Started!!!!
We open things up again in the SEC when the 2nd ranked Auburn Tigers visit the 3rd ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs to possibly claim the #1 position next week with the winner saying they beat 2 top teams in consecutive weeks. The Auburn Tigers have beat 3 top teams already this season and after coming off another big win over LSU, will they be the best team in the nation if they beat the Bulldogs? The Bulldogs are coming off blowing out the Aggies last week and it propelled QB Dak Prescott into the Heisman discussion and a win over Auburn would catapult him to the top of the ladder. I’m going with Auburn by a slim margin!!!
Tigers Win 34-31
This could be a game that decides the playoff team that represents the Big 12 conference when the 9th ranked TCU Horned Frogs visit the 5th ranked Baylor Bears. The Horned Frogs are coming off a huge win over the Oklahoma Sooners last week and they are one of the teams that people think could make noise ala Auburn last year through good defense and a great offense. The Baylor Bears have the top ranked scoring offense in the nation and a top 10 pass offense also. The Bears defense has improved so much and they’re giving up over 12 points a game this year, ranking them 5th in the nation. I’m going with TCU to pull off another upset this week!!!
Horned Frogs Win 35-31
We head back down to SEC country when the 3rd ranked Ole Miss Rebels visit the 14th ranked Texas A&M Aggies in a big SEC West battle. The Ole Miss Rebels are coming off one of their biggest wins last week when they beat the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Rebels success is coming from a great defense and timely offense that was key against Alabama. The Aggies are coming off a big time beatdown last week against the Mississippi State Bulldogs where Kenny Hill had 3 INTs. The Aggies still rank 5th in the nation in passing and 3rd in points scored. The Rebels defense will give the Aggies fits but they will do enough to win this game.
Aggies Win 33-27
This is a battle between 2 teams that are coming off being upset the previous week when the 12th ranked Oregon Ducks visit the 18th ranked UCLA Bruins. The Ducks were talked about as one of the teams that will probably be one of the playoff teams and now it will be hard for them to be a part of the playoffs after losing to Arizona. The Bruins are also coming off a huge upset home loss last week when they were beaten by Utah. After the Bruins blew out Arizona State the week prior everyone touted them as being one of the teams to beat after their bad start to the season. This is definitely an elimination game and I’m going with the Ducks!!!
Ducks Win 41-38
Here is a match-up that could possibly determine who will be in the SEC Championship representing the SEC West. The 13th ranked Georgia Bulldogs visit the 23rd ranked Missouri Tigers. The Bulldogs barely loss to the Gamecocks and they could be undefeated and probably a top 5 team with Heisman candidate Todd Gurley leading the offense. The Tigers should be undefeated also but they had that hiccup against Indiana a couple of weeks back but they both have a chance to redeem their season. The Tigers have the kind of defense that could give the Bulldogs fits especially with QB Hutson Mason being limited but in the end I’m going with the Bulldogs
Bulldogs Win 31-30
This is a battle between 2 of the better teams in the ACC when the 5-1 Louisville Cardinals visit the 3-2 Clemson Tigers. Both teams represent the Coastal division of the ACC and the Louisville Cardinals only loss came by only 2 points to Virginia or they could be entering this game undefeated. The successes of the Cardinals are from the defensive side as they’re giving up less than 13 points a game. The Tigers started the season 1-2 with losses to Georgia and Florida State before they inserted Freshman QB Deshaun Watson as their starter and have won the last 2 games and look like a different team. They have scored 91 points in 2 games and will continue their success and beat the Cardinal.
Tigers Win 34-24
The final game is from a couple of teams that are 2 of the most successful teams in the SEC over the last decade when the LSU Tigers visit the Florida Gators. This seems weird because whenever these teams usually meet they’re both ranked. The Tigers are coming off from being blown out by Auburn and have lost 2 of their last 3 games and they’re in need of a win. The Gators are coming off a tough 10-9 win over Tennessee and with a Georgia win over Missouri they will be tied for the SEC East lead with Georgia, Missouri & Kentucky. This will be a tough hard hitting game and I think the Gators will win this one.
Gators Win 27-17
