Here we are, the Western Conference Finals as we have the Golden State Warriors facing the Houston Rockets for the chance to play for the NBA Championship. As predicted, I had the Warriors beating the Grizzlies in the six games and it definitely wasn’t easy for them. On the other side, I actually had the Rockets falling to the Clippers in seven games, but I’ll admit that the Rockets showed me a lil something in that Games 6 & 7 and that’s heart. This should be another great series, so let’s see how I think things will play out.
The Golden State Warriors come into this series as the top seed in the Western Conference and owners of the best record in the regular season. They’re looking to finally get over that hurdle and play for a championship behind the league MVP in Steph Curry and a great supporting cast. One thing I know is that the atmosphere for Game 1 in the Bay Area will be crazy and I’m sure the Warriors will feed off of that. We can pretty much throw away that the Warriors were 4-0 against this Rockets team this year because they have finally mashed together since the additions of Corey Brewer and Josh Smith. Speaking of the Rockets, who thought they were all but eliminated during the 3rd quarter of the Game 6 against the Clippers. They showed great character, especially when they went on the run towards the end of the 3rd quarter and throughout the 4th quarter without James Harden on the floor. Can this same Rockets team show up against the top team in the league? Will Dwight Howard have his way with the frontcourt of the Warriors and be the difference in the series? In the battle of the league MVP and the runner-up, who will come out on top? This series should be good, but my heart is leaning to the Warriors winning the series and advancing to the NBA Finals.
