Welcome to Week 5 of the NFL season and I need to kick it in high gear because I’m still below the 50% winning percentage as of now. Last week my record was 2-2, which dropped my record to 11-13 while my winning percentage rose from 45% to 45.8%. This week I’ll be predicting seven games and hopefully I can finally turn things around and at least get over the 50% mark. Let’s Get Started!!!
This is the Thursday night game between AFC South rivals as the Indianapolis Colts travel to face the Houston Texans. As of now, it has been reported that Andrew Luck will miss his second consecutive game and Matt Hasselback will start again for the Colts. With a poor offensive line, the Colts worse nightmare is facing J.J. Watt without Luck and this game could be one Watt needs to get back on track. The big question in Houston is who’s going to start at QB for them? Ryan Mallet was relieved of his duties last week and Brian Hoyer looked pretty good, but I think either way the Texans walk away with the win.
Texans Win 26-17
This is probably the biggest match-up of Week 5, as the Seattle Seahawks travel to Cincinnati to face the undefeated Bengals. The Seahawks are coming off a tough win on Monday night against the Lions and their defense has looked great since the return of Kam Chancellor. On the other hand, the offense has struggled mightily all season and it doesn’t seem they can get on track. The Cincinnati Bengals have looked great to start the season and they’re one of only a handful of teams that’s undefeated. Can Andy Dalton continue his great season against this Seahawks defense? This is tough, but I’m going with the Seahawks!!!
Seahawks Win 23-21
This is a battle between a couple of teams that’s tied atop of their divisions as the Washington Redskins visit the Atlanta Falcons. The Redskins are tied with the Cowboys and Giants in the NFC east with all having a 2-2 record. Washington is coming off a tough come from behind win over the Philadelphia Eagles and they’re hoping Kirk Cousins continue to play well for them against this tough Falcons defense. The Falcons come into this game with a 4-0 record and they’re coming off beating the hell out of the Texans at home last week. Can the Falcons continue their dominance over the NFC East, having already beaten the Eagles, Cowboys and Giants? I say YES!!
Falcons Win 34-21
This should be a pretty exciting game as the St. Louis Rams visit Lambeau Field and the undefeated Green Bay Packers. Last week, the Rams stunned the Arizona Cardinals behind a great performance from rookie RB Todd Gurley. The Rams has the type of offense that could score with the Packers and they have a front four that could give Aaron Rodgers trouble with their pressure. The Packers, despite the key injuries they have sustained haven’t missed a beat and they come into this game with a 4-0 record. Can the Packers continue their undefeated season against this tough Rams team? I believe they will win!!
Packers Win 31-21
Here’s another pretty good match-up this week as the New England Patriots come off their bye week and travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys. The Patriots have looked like the best team in the NFL in the first quarter of the season and Brady look like he’s aiming at another MVP. So far, it really hasn’t mattered what the Patriots defense has done because their offense is putting up a lot of points. The Cowboys have lost a couple of games in a row and they’re hoping to rebound from the tough loss in New Orleans last week in the Sunday night game. The Cowboys will get help on the defensive side of the ball, but it won’t be enough to stop the Patriots.
Patriots Win 41-28
This is the Sunday night game between two of the more decorated teams in league history as the San Francisco 49ers visit the New York Giants. The 49ers are having a terrible year and they have lost three games in a row. The talk of the week has been the play of QB Colin Kaepernick, how he’s regressed over the past couple of years and the turmoil that’s going on in the 49ers organization. The Giants should be 4-0 if they didn’t make those mental mistakes in the first couple of games, but either way with the Cowboys facing the Patriots and Redskins in Atlanta, they could take over first place in the division. I’m going with New York!!
Giants Win 30-21
This is the Monday Night game between a couple of pretty good teams representing the AFC as the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to the West Coast to face the San Diego Chargers. In my opinion, the Steelers are the sleeper team in the AFC with a healthy Big Ben, but they need to win a few games while he’s on the shelf. On the other hand, the Chargers could be in trouble with a loss at home, but they get All-Pro TE Antonio Gates back which wille be a boost to the team. Can Michael Vick lead the Steelers to a victory on the road with all those weapons? I’m going with the Steelers to win this one!!!
Steelers Win 23-21
