There’s a need in today’s busy world to eat healthy. However, the healthy food options just aren’t there when it comes to creating healthy meals on the go. It’s important that we feed our kids semi-healthy meals most of the time, which is why we try to create healthy meals, even when we’re in a hurry. I wanted to pass some of our tips onto you!
One of the biggest secrets to creating healthy meals in a hurry is to meal plan. You can get a really simple calendar and plan out your meals. It doesn’t need to be anything spectacular. Meal planning can be fairly simple, it’s just all about thinking ahead.
Think Veggies & Fruits
Who says that veggies and fruits cannot be a complete meal? They can! Even if you don’t want them to be a whole meal, they make an awesome side. We like to cut up fruits and veggies and place them in the fridge in to go cups. We can just come home from school or whatever else we’re doing and grab the cups!
Anyone that has kids knows that everyone can be in a hurry sometimes. So what do we do? We actually prep meals ahead of time and place them in the freezer. If we have a busy day and I’m running out of time to cook dinner, I can easily just pull a meal out of the freezer and we’re good to go!
Have a List of Go To Meals
Another way to create healthy meals in a hurry is to have a list of go to meals. You can keep this list by your freezer and go to it when you need it. These are meals that you always have all of the ingredients to in your house. If you’re out of the ingredients, you immediately buy more. Trust me, this is one of the best ways to create a meal in a hurry.
Keep it So Simple
Another way to ensure your meal is done quickly is by keeping it simple. A meat, plus veggie, or fruit is a great way to keep it simple and still feed your family a nutritious meal. Sometimes people overthink what healthy means and they end up going through the drive thru for something entirely unhealthy.
