My 2016 NCAA Championship Game Prediction

2016 NCAA Final Four

We have finally reached the championship game of this crazy tournament. Surprisingly, the Final Four have featured a couple of blowouts as Villanova pulled off the largest margin of victory in the Final Four over Oklahoma by beating them 95-51 in the first game. In the second game, North Carolina outlasted their ACC foe, Syracuse by beating them 83-66 to advance to play the Villanova Wildcats in the championship game on Monday Night. With everyone wanting to see the Tar Heels play Kansas from the beginning of the tournament, this game between the Tar Heels and Wildcats should be a great game. In my original bracket and then my last bracket, I still had the Tar Heels playing Oklahoma in the title game, but Villanova came to play and took it to the Sooners. The Tar Heel/Orange game played out exactly how I thought it would and I almost predicted the final score in the process. Let’s see how things will play out and who will cut down the net on Monday Night!!

North Carolina logo CollegeVillanova WildcatsWelcome to the championship game as the top seed from the East Region, North Carolina Tar Heels face the 2nd seed from the South Region, Villanova Wildcats. Coming into the NCAA tournament, many looked at North Carolina and Kansas as the top teams in the tournament, as mentioned above. The Tar Heels have pretty much rolled through everyone in their paths to reach the title game. The Tar Heels have got to be the deepest team in the tournament because they go about 10 or 11 deep and that has pretty much wears every team down. Another reason why this team is so special is they have some veteran leadership and their bigs control most of the rebounds. Can the Tar Heels wear down Villanova like they have against every other team they’ve played? On the other hand, as impressive as North Carolina has been, the Wildcats have probably been the most impressive team in the tournament. In the Sweet 16, Villanova blew out the 3rd seed Miami Hurricanes by 23 points, pulled off the huge upset in the Elite 8 over the Jayhawks and blew out Oklahoma in the Final Four. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the Wildcats finished with the second highest FG percentage in the Final Four by shooting a little under 72% from the field. Can they continue with their hot hand against the tough Tar Heels defense? This will be a tough game and in the end, I’m riding with the team I picked from the beginning and that’s the Tar Heels.

North Carolina Tar Heels Win 76-69
