John Cena Returns Tonight: What Happens?

John Cena

The Champ finally returns to Monday Night Raw tonight on the Memorial Day edition. If you haven’t been paying attention for the past few weeks, John Cena tweeted that he’s returning to the WWE. He has been out of action after shoulder surgery where many thought he would be out of action for about 9 months, but in typical John Cena style, he’s coming back before what we initially thought. John Cena made a surprising appearance this past WrestleMania when he helped The Rock fight off the Wyatt Family, but hasn’t been seen on WWE TV ever since. While John Cena was out with injury, he kept himself pretty busy helping co-host Good Morning America, making various appearances everywhere it seemed like it, the White House dinner and now he’ll be hosting the ESPYs on ESPN. With that said John Cena could possibly reduce his schedule to become a part-time performer and eventually find more opportunities outside the WWE where he could eventually walk away in the near future. Hate em or love em, John Cena is one of the greatest superstars of all-time. Now that John Cena returns tonight, what are some things he could get himself in upon his return?

MITB participants- John Cena

Last Spot in the Money in the Bank Match

With Cesaro, Dean Ambrose, Chris Jericho, Alberto Del Rio, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have already qualified, there’s one more spot to be filled on Monday Night Raw, could John Cena be the final entrant? With John Cena coming off of shoulder surgery, would it be smart for him to risk hurting himself again for the Money in the Bank match?

Possibly Rusev vs. John Cena

Challenge Rusev for the U.S. Title

Remember that he and Cena had a great feud over the U.S. title that lead to a match at WrestleMania 31 for the championship. During that time, it was some of Rusev’s best work and the best feud during his time in the WWE. With Rusev pretty much finished with his feud with Kalisto, this could really elevate the United States championship like it was last year. When Cena won the United States championship, Monday Night Raw featured his U.S. championship open challenge where he called out anyone who wanted to face him for the title. Last year he faced Kevin Owens, Neville, Cesaro, Sami Zayn and many others. With the Intercontinental championship being elevated lately, this would be the perfect time to help elevate the U.S title again. Also, with the brand extension coming up, it’s very important for the championship seem important.

Set-Up a New Feud

It could be the start of a new feud with someone as he’s given a promo about his return. There have been some major changes ever since Cena has been out of action with the influx of NXT talent and new stars debuting in the WWE. Just imagine a feud with someone like A.J. Styles or possibly someone like Baron Corbin attack Cena would be huge for the young, big man.

Possible Heel Turn

I know, this is something that many have wanted for years and to be honest, I don’t think it’ll ever happen. Recently, he has stated that he would love to turn heel so he can push the envelope, but it’s not his decision on what happens. Personally, I think that ship has sailed and there’s no need for it to happen at this point, is it?
