Welcome to another edition of Monday Night Raw with it taking place in Green Bay this week. With the big news of the week being that Smackdown will go live starting July 19th and there will be another brand extension, which was rumored for months. Last week, Monday Night Raw was really good and with the return of John Cena, hopefully things will continue in the right direction as we approach the Money in the Bank PPV. Let’s Get Started!!!
Memorial Day Tribute: As always, the WWE always do a great job with the tributes on the major holidays. We had the 10-bell salute, which was followed by a great video package.
Shane/Stephanie Opening Segment: They talked about Smackdown going live and as they were about to talk more about it, they were interrupted by the New Day. New Day questioned pretty much everything about Smackdown going live from the brand extension, will they be separated and who will run each show. They requested a dance-off between Shane & Stephanie, then they said hit their music then Shane started to dance. When Stephanie started to dance, must I say that Stephanie looked damn good, but they were interrupted by the Vaudevillians, who came down for their match with New Day.
New Day vs. Vaudevillians: The match was pretty good and when it seem like Big E was about to finish off Aiden English, Gallows & Anderson attacked Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods while the Vaudevillians beat down Big E. When Anderson & Gallows entered the ring, the Vaudevillians left Big E for them to beat up. They hit the Magic Killer to finish the segment!!
Rusev vs. Zack Ryder: I love the dominant Rusev again and that Accolade is deadly!! I’m still on the fence when it comes to a Titus/Rusev feud, but the crowd was into it and that’s all that matters.
Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins Segment: Even though I wanted Rollins to be a face when he came back, he’s so damn good as a heel and this segment was no different.
Enzo & Big Cass vs. Dudley Boyz: It was great seeing Enzo back from his injury & I see them contending for the tag titles in the near future.
The return of John Cena: Before we got the much-anticipated return of John Cena, they played a video package highlighting some of his career highlights, which you can catch on the WWE Network. The music hit and Cena came out to an enormous chorus of boos & cheers, then he entered the ring to cut a promo about Memorial Day. Afterwards, he talked about the “New Era” and all the new faces that’s in the WWE since he’s been gone. He said that he’s still the man and if someone is trying to reach the top that they still have to go through him. With that said, the music of A.J. Styles hit and he made his way to the ring, then the crowd chanted for him and Cena. That continued for a couple of minutes because let’s be honest, we never thought they would ever be in the same ring. As the crowd continued to cheer for the moment, Styles said he respected Cena and eventually they shook hands before Gallows & Anderson started coming down the aisle. They said since they broke up, they been kicking ass starting with the New Day earlier and Styles is kissing John Cena’s ass and said they come for a fight. Styles and Cena both took off their shirts ready to fight, but Styles punched Cena after Cena threw his shirt into the audience. They proceeded to beat the hell out of Cena and afterwards, they showed they were still a unit. They left the ring, but Styles continued to leave & come back multiple times beating on Cena. Great segment!!!
Cesaro, Sami Zayn & Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho & Alberto Del Rio: This match was between the six guys that are involved in the Money in the Bank Ladder match and as expected, this match was really good and fun. All men did their thing in the match and in the end; Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds on Owens for the win for his team.
Usos vs. Fandango & Tyler Breeze: That match was pretty quick!!
Dana Brooke vs. Natalya: Wasn’t too crazy about this match, but I like seeing Natalya getting help from Becky Lynch.
Dolph Ziggler v. Baron Corbin: Ziggler kicked him in the groin & that was it.
Overall Rating: 7.5/10- Another solid edition of Monday Night Raw once again. My only gripes were the matches with the Usos/Breeze & Fandango, Dana Brooke against Natalya and I’m still not sure about the Corbin/Ziggler situation.
