College Football’s Best Kickoff Weekend Ever Predictions

Daddy's Hangout NCAA Football Predictions logo

Finally!!!! Football season is back as college football and it kicks off with a bang. It’s been deemed as College Football’s Best Kickoff Weekend Ever, one that I’m not going to argue against because it’s a very stacked schedule. This college football season could be one of the best in recent memory with so many Heisman candidates and so many top teams playing each other to start the season. Like always, my goal for the year is to finish with at least 70% winning percentage and this week I’ll start off by predicting eight games, which could be really good or a bad start to the season. After an exciting start to the season on Thursday night, here are my predictions for the big games starting on Saturday and ending on Monday night. Let’s get started with my first prediction post of the year!!

Alabama Logo College FootballUSC Trojans logo CollegeWe’ll kick things off with the defending national champions, Alabama as they begin the season as the top-ranked team and they’ll make the trip to Dallas to face the USC Trojans, who comes in as the 20th ranked team. The Crimson Tide are coming into this game with a new QB and having to replace Heisman winner, Derrick Henry plus a few guys on the defensive side of the ball. Can the Crimson Tide contain the high-powered offense of the Trojans? USC is trying to get back to that national prominence and if they could pull off the huge upset against the Tide, this would go a long way to get to that point. This game will be closer than expected, but in the end I think Alabama will be victorious in this one.

Alabama Wins 34-24

Oklahoma Sooners Logo CollegeHouston Cougars logoWe have a top-15 match-up as the 3rd ranked Oklahoma Sooners travel to face the 15th ranked Houston Cougars. The Sooners are coming into this year with the hopes of making a run to the playoffs on the shoulders of Heisman hopeful, QB Baker Mayfield. The Sooners are trying to recover from last year’s disappointing season after so much promise and after a strong start to the season. With the Houston Cougars, some have called them a sleeper team to possibly make a run to the playoffs. If the Cougars could upset the Sooners, this could be something the committee looks at towards the end of the season. In the end, I think the Sooners will handle their business and pick up the win.

Oklahoma Wins 41-30

LSU Tigers logo CollegeWisconsin College logoThis game will take place in Lambeau Field with Wisconsin hosting the 5th ranked LSU Tigers. The Badgers are playing with the hopes of getting back to a national powerhouse and also making their conference look good against an SEC school. Wisconsin has always been a hard-nosed, hardworking team and that could help them against this physical LSU team. The Tigers are led by Heisman hopeful and one of the front-runners in Leonard Fournette. LSU are looking to dethrone the Tide in the SEC West and make a run to the playoffs in the process. With the passing game of the Tigers still being below average, this could be my upset alert, but I think LSU will pull off the win in the end.

LSU Wins 34-31

Georgia College logoNorth Carolina logo CollegeThis is a battle between a couple of team ranked in the top-25 as the 18th ranked Georgia Bulldogs face the 22nd ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. The Bulldogs come into this season with a brand new coach in Kirby Smart with the hopes of having Nick Chubb being healthy. Can Kirby Smart pick up this big win against a top ACC school with the hopes of having a magical season? The North Carolina Tar Heels are coming off a very good season will have to replace some key parts on the offense, but they have a great defense, especially the defensive line. I’m not sure the Lambert will be the answer for the Georgia, but they’ll come out on top in this game.

Georgia Wins 30-24

Clemson Tigers Paw logo College Auburn Logo CollegeWe have a battle of the Tigers as the 2nd ranked Clemson Tigers visit the Auburn Tigers Saturday night. As we all know, Clemson came really close to winning the national championship and they have those same aspirations will be attainable this year. With DeShaun Watson being the Heisman frontrunner, will he start his campaign in a big way against the SEC school? The Auburn Tigers are looking to put last year behind them and return to prominence as one of the top teams in the SEC. Can Auburn do enough to stop Watson and will the crowd be a factor? I’m going with Clemson to pick up the win!!

Clemson Wins 41-24

UCLA Bruins logo CollegeTexas A&M logo CollegeWe have the 16th ranked UCLA Bruins visiting the Texas A&M Aggies in a game where both teams have a lot to prove. QB Josh Rosen comes into the season as one of the top QBs in the country and can put himself in the Heisman race with a great performance in College Station. Can the Bruins make the cross country trip and pick up the win over Aggies? The Aggies have had an eventful offseason with so many issues with the QBs leaving the team. Coach Sumlin is said to be on the hot seat if he don’t have a good season, so this could be a confident booster for the Aggies. I’m going with the Bruins to win this one!!

UCLA Wins 38-24

Notre Dame Fighting Irish logo CollegeTexas Longhorns logoThis is the Sunday night game as the 10th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish visit the Texas Longhorns. The Fighting Irish will sport a 2-QB offense and they should be great on the defensive side of the ball again. In a battle of two of the winningest programs in college football, this should be a really good game. Can the Irish make a run to the playoffs this year? On the other hand, Texas is looking to improve on both sides of the ball and just improve as a team. Coach Strong should have a better team, but I don’t know if they have the talent to beat the Irish, so I’m riding with Notre Dame to win.

Notre Dame Wins 34-31

Florida State logo CollegeOle Miss Rebels logo CollegeThe final game of the weekend takes place on Monday Night, Labor Day to be exact as the 4th ranked Florida State Seminoles face the 11th ranked Ole Miss Rebels. This game has so much riding on it as far as playoff implications for later in the season. The Seminoles still have questions at the QB position, but they have Heisman hopeful Dalvin Cook in the backfield and if he stays healthy, this could be a special season for the ‘Noles. The Rebels are coming into this game looking to shock the world, but gain some respect at the same time. They’re another team in the SEC West that’s looking to make the playoffs this year also. This should be a damn good game, but I believe the Seminoles are a little better on both sides of the ball and will win.

Florida State Wins 44-27
