Daddy’s Hangout Smackdown Live Review from Birmingham

Smackdown Live from Birmingham

Welcome to another edition of Smackdown Live with it taking place in Birmingham, AL. With the No Mercy PPV right around the corner, less than three weeks to be exact let’s see how things will turn out. Last week, Smackdown Live was really good and with a stacked show on deck, this show should be pretty good. Let’s see how the show went!!

Opening Segment: Smackdown Live opened with the contract signing between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship at the No Mercy PPV. After cutting a really good promo on each other, Alexa Bliss hit Lynch with the notepad, threw the table on top of her and signed the contract. While she was walking off, Lynch attacked her in the aisle.

Usos vs. American Alpha: The American Alpha returned after Chad Gable had his knee injured at the hand of the Usos a couple of weeks ago. The winner of this match would get a shot at the tag titles at the No Mercy PPV. This match was really good with so much offense, but the knee of Gable didn’t hold up and the Usos won the match. After the match, the Usos confronted the tag champs backstage. Really digging the new attitude from the Usos!!

Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler: This was a really good match between these two which was for the Intercontinental championship. This match had everything from nearfalls, great action, the crowd was into and we saw Maryse get kicked out. The referee caught her trying to spray the eyes of Ziggler again just like she did in the match at Backlash. In the end, Miz used the spray to the eyes of Ziggler and hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.

Dean Ambrose vs. John Cena: This was a pretty good main event from these two and surprisingly, Ambrose pinned Cena clean. During the match, they both kicked out of each other’s finishers and after the match, A.J. Styles attacked both men. Daniel Bryan came out and granted Dean Ambrose his rematch for the WWE championship for next Tuesday. Styles were frustrated, and then he turned around to meet Dirty Deeds from Ambrose.

Apollo Crews vs. Baron Corbin: How many times are these going to face each other? What’s up with Crews becoming a jobber?

Randy Orton vs. Erick Rowan: It really was just a squash match and Bray Wyatt cutting a promo afterwards. This is pretty much the same formula in most of Bray Wyatt feuds, which I don’t know why.

Naomi & Nikki Bella vs. Natalya & Carmella: The match really didn’t take place because Carmella took out Nikki Bella.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10- This edition wasn’t as strong as the previous week, but they did deliver three solid matches. My biggest gripes would be the squash Randy Orton match, but I get it, the women’s tag match that didn’t take place and how Apollo Crews has been relegated to jobber status.
