It’s hard to believe that T.I. has been in the game for 15 years. That pretty much shows you how time flies by so fast because it doesn’t feel like he dropped I’m Serious in 2001. On October 9th, the King of the South released his debut album. The first and only single from the album was the title track, which featured Beenie Man. The Neptunes handled the production of the track and I really liked the track when I first heard it. After releasing the album, which I bought I thought he had plenty of potential and this was just the beginning. Unfortunately, the album wasn’t well-received and he was eventually let go by his record label. As a matter of fact, I’m Serious is actually his lowest selling with a little over a quarter million records sold.
The album featured a slew of stars from Too Short, Jazze Pha, Lil Jon, Youngbloodz, Pastor Troy and a few others. On the production side he has the Neptunes, DJ Toomp, Lil Jon and a few others. For me, I think this is a case of people showing love to the album years after it has been released, which happens quite often. I know that amongst my friends, we all loved the album and I’ve bought it a couple of times. Besides I’m Serious, my favorite tracks off the album are Still Ain’t Forgave Myself, Dope Boyz, What Happened and What’s Yo Name. As far as T.I’s catalog, this isn’t my favorite album of his because his next few albums topped this one, but I still got love for it.
