Welcome to the 6th week of the NFL season as things are starting to heat up. Last week I took a couple of steps back with my 3-4 record. My record fell to 16-17, which dipped my overall winning percentage from 50% to 48.5%. The big news of the week has to be Colin Kaepernick being named the starter for the 49ers. The question has to be, is he healthy enough? This week I’ll be predicting a total of seven games with the hopes of winning some games. Let’s Get Started!!
This is the Thursday night game between a pair of AFC West foes. The Denver Broncos will be visiting the San Diego Chargers in a key divisional game. Denver is coming off their first defeat last week at home against the Atlanta Falcons. The Broncos defense played less than stellar; also they were without Trevor Siemian who was nursing an injured shoulder. Dan Denver rebound in San Diego? The Chargers are coming off another heartbreaking loss last week, which is something they’ve done all year. They have lost three games in a row by a combined 8 points. Can they put a complete game together and upset the Broncos? I’m going with the Broncos rebounding from their loss to beat San Diego.
Denver Win 27-17
We head to the NFC East for the match-up as the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Washington Redskins. The Eagles are coming off their first loss of the season and Carson Wentz tossed his first INT also. The defense of the Eagles was exposed early against the Lions with the Lions scoring easily in the first half. Can the Eagles rebound and get back to their winning ways against the Redskins? After losing their first two games of the season, Washington has won three games in a row. The first couple of games were won with their offense, but last week against the Ravens the defense stepped up. I’m going with the Redskins to hold fort at home against the Eagles.
Washington Win 31-21
Now we head to the AFC West for this match-up as the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Oakland Raiders. The Chiefs are coming off a bye week and they have received great news with Justin Houston returning to practice. He can’t play until the following week and they need him as the Steelers put up 43 points the week before their bye week. Can the Chiefs pull off the upset over the Raiders? Oakland has one of the better offenses in the league and they’re on a 3-game winning streak. With the return of Jamaal Charles for the Chiefs, can the Raiders defense step up and make it 4 in a row? I’m going with the Raiders to win a close one against Kansas City.
Oakland Win 38-35
We have a battle between a pair of the best teams in the NFC as the Falcons visit the Seahawks. Atlanta has been one of the talks of the NFL especially after beating the Broncos in Denver. The Falcons probably have the best offense in the NFL, along with the Steelers and Patriots, but the defense still have issues. Can the Falcons put it all together and come up with a huge win on the road? Seattle is coming off a bye week and they’re on a 2-game winning streak. The defense has carried the team, but the offense picked up the past two weeks. In this huge match-up, can they Seahawks beat the Falcons and their former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn? I’m going with the Seahawks at home!!
Seattle Win 25-21
We stay in the NFC as the Dallas Cowboys visit the Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys come into this game leading the NFC East and looking to extend their 4-game winning streak. Dallas has looked great with Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott leading the way. Dallas will need to lean on their running game in Lambeau if they’re going to win on the road. Can Dallas pull off the win? Green Bay is coming off their bye week and they need it to get those who are injured some rest. The Packers are hoping to continue their winning ways to keep up with the undefeated Vikings. This is a hard game to pick, but I’m going with Green Bay at home.
Green Bay Win 31-30
We have the Sunday night game, which is a AFC North battle between a pair of playoff hopefuls. The Indianapolis Colts visit the Houston Texans with first place up in the air as the Colts are a game behind Houston. The Colts are winless on the road and they’re still having issues with their defense. Despite the Colts offense looking good, their offensive line is still allowing Andrew Luck to get hit too much. The Houston Texans are undefeated at home, but they haven’t played well against really good teams. The Texans are coming off a thumping from the Vikings last week, can they rebound at home? This is another close one, but I think the Colts will win late.
Indianapolis Win 34-31
We have the Monday Night game as the New York Jets travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals. New York has lost three games in a row where they’ve given up an average of 27 points while averaging 11 points. To be fair to the Jets, they have had the toughest schedule this year thus far. If the Jets think they can turn around this train wreck, they need this win despite getting news about Eric Decker. The Cardinals are looking to get back to the team they were last year. They should get Carson Palmer back for this game after missing last week with a concussion. Can the Cardinals make it two in a row? I’m saying they can and will beat the Jets on Monday.
Arizona Win 34-24
