Daddy’s Hangout 13th Week of College Football Predictions

Daddy's Hangout NCAA Football Predictions logo

Welcome to the 13th week of the college football season, meaning we’re almost finished with the season. Last week my record was 2-2, which dropped my overall record to 44-21. In the process, my winning percentage dipped from 68.9% to 67.7%. There’s still hope of reaching my goal of 70% winning percentage before seasons end. Last week, we saw Louisville’s playoffs hopes dashed as Houston blew them out. With the fourth college football playoffs rankings being released, there weren’t too many changes. With quite a few rivalry games this weekend, things should be exciting. I’ll be predicting a total of five games in what should be an eye opening weekend of college football. Let’s get this thing started!!!

Michigan Wolverines logoOhio State Logo NCAA College FootballThe top game of the week or you could say the match-up we’ve waited all year for. The 3rd ranked Michigan Wolverines visit the 2nd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes with so much on the line. Michigan comes into this game hoping to win and advance to the Big 10 championship with the hopes of getting to the playoffs. With a loss, it seems like their playoff hopes could be dashed also. On the other hand, Ohio State would need some help to advance to the Big 10 Championship game. Because they lost to Penn State earlier in the year, they need them to lose and the Buckeyes must beat Michigan. If Ohio State wins, it seems like they could still make the playoffs despite not making it to their conference title game. With that said, I’m going with Ohio State to nudge by the Wolverines, but fail to make the title game as Penn State wins.

Ohio State Win 20-17

Auburn Logo CollegeAlabama Logo College FootballWe have the Iron Bowl, which lost some of its luster when Georgia upset Auburn. The 16th ranked Auburn Tigers will visit the top ranked and undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide. If Auburn wouldn’t have lost the game in Athens a couple of weeks ago, this would have been for the SEC West title. The key part of the Auburn game plan will be the health of RB Kamryn Pettway. He’s been nursing an injury that has kept him out of a few games, but still has rushed for over a 1,000 yards. On other hand, what can you say about Alabama that hasn’t been said? They are stacked on both sides of the ball and their Freshman QB is getting better every week. This game will come down to the Auburn run game and if they can pound the ball against the Alabama defense. I think this will be close for most part of the game, but the Tide run away in the end.

Alabama Win 30-17

Florida Gators logo NCAA CollegeFlorida State logo NCAA CollegeWe head to Florida for this big time rivalry game as the 13th ranked Gators visit the 15th ranked Seminoles. Florida has already clinched the SEC East and headed to the title game to face Alabama. With a pair of impressive showings or wins as a matter of fact, Florida have hopes of the Sugar Bowl. With the stout defense that the Gators possess, they must stop Dalvin Cook if they have any chance of leaving Tallahassee with the win. With Florida State not playing in the ACC championship game, they need to impress the committee if they want to play in one of the New Year’s Six bowl games. They’re currently ranked 14th in the playoff rankings, so with a win over Florida they could get into that top 12. I think the Seminoles will beat the Gators in a close one.

Florida State Win 26-20

Washington State Cougars logoWashington Huskies logoWe head to the Pacific Northwest as the 6th ranked Washington Huskies visit the 23rd ranked Washington State Cougars. In this battle for the Apple Cup, Washington has so much to gain or lose in this rivalry game. If they were to win, not only will they advance to play in the Pac-12 championship game, but they still have a shot to make the playoffs. Could the Huskies jump over the loser of the Michigan/Ohio State game? Washington State could ruin all the hopes of the Huskies by pulling off the upset. If the Cougars were to win, not only would they ruin the Huskies playoff hopes, but they would advance to the Pac-12 title game. I think the Huskies will barely edge out the Cougars and advance to the Pac-12 championship game.

Washington Win 41-31

Utah Utes logo CollegeColorado Buffaloes NCAA College logoWe stay in the Pac-12 for a battle that will determine who comes out of the south. We have the 21st ranked Utah Utes visiting the 9th ranked Colorado Buffaloes, who still have hopes of reaching the playoffs. Utah suffered an unbelievable loss at home last week to Oregon that took them out of the running for a top bowl game. They could make up for that by beating Colorado and allowing the USC Trojans to win the Pac-12 South. Could Utah be in for a letdown game after suffering that crushing defeat to Oregon? On the other hand, it’s pretty simple for the Buffaloes, if you win, then you’re in. If my predictions hold true, Washington could be facing Colorado with the possibility of the winner going to the playoffs. I’m picking Colorado to stampede over Utah.

Colorado Win 38-24
