College Football Week 2 Predictions

Welcome to Week 2 of the college football season as this week features another top-5 matchup. The first weekend was a successful one as my record was 4-0. The big game of the week got the 2nd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes hosting the 5th ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Last year, Ohio State embarrassed Oklahoma on the road by blowing them out. If that’s not enough, 13th ranked Auburn visits the 3rd ranked Clemson Tigers. Out west, the 14th ranked Stanford Cardinal visit the 6th ranked USC Trojans. In the final battle of ranked opponents, 15th ranked Georgia visit the 24th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. This week I’ll be predicting 4 games with the hopes of continuing success. Let’s get started!!

College Football Week 2College Football Week 2We start with the top-5 matchup as 5th ranked Oklahoma take on the 2nd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Like I mentioned before, Oklahoma will be looking to avenge the beat-down they received from the Buckeyes last year. Baker Mayfield came back for moments like this as he’s trying to lead the Sooners to the playoffs this year. Can Oklahoma pull off the upset on the road? Can the Sooner defense contain the high-powered offense of Ohio State? Speaking of star QBs returning for another season, J.T. Barrett came back with the hopes of leading Ohio State back to the playoffs. Last week, the Buckeyes started off slow, but eventually put things together to run away from the game. This should be a great game and I think Ohio State will prevail once again, but it should be closer.

Ohio State Win 34-24

College Football Week 2College Football Week 2This is another rematch from last year as the 13th ranked Auburn Tigers visit the 3rd ranked Clemson Tigers. Auburn had an easy time last week against Georgia Southern, but here’s a real test. Last year, Auburn lost this game at home against the defending national champions. The Auburn offense is led by a really great offensive line and that will be key against the tough Clemson defense. Can Auburn pull off the upset on the road? Clemson get their first real test of the season and this year the defense could lead this team as far as they’ll go. Of course, the offense will have to replace DeShaun Watson and Mike Williams, who’s off to the NFL. I’m going with Clemson to win as the defense will be key in this game.

Clemson Win 30-24

College Football Week 2College Football Week 2We head to the west for another top-15 matchup as 14th ranked Stanford visit the 6th ranked USC Trojans. Stanford looked like the physical team we’ve been accustomed to in their opening game. The biggest issue coming into this game has to be if they can stop the high-octane Trojan offense. Stanford is one of the teams that could sneak into the playoffs, but they must beat USC on the road. For USC, they’re lead by the projected top pick in next year’s NFL Draft, Sam Darnold. Last week, Darnold threw 2 picks and didn’t toss any TD passes in the process. Can he rebound and lead the Trojans to the victory? I’m going with the Trojans to win a tough game despite their shaky defense.

USC Win 31-30

College Football Week 2College Football Week 2This is another match-up between ranked teams as #15 Georgia visits the 24th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. It’s hard to believe this is their first meeting since 1981 when Herschel Walker rushed for 150 yards and 2 TDs in the Sugar Bowl. Georgia comes into this game without QB Jacob Eason, who’s out with a knee injury. As we all know, Georgia will go as far as Nick Chubb and Sony Michel in the backfield. Can Georgia pick up the win with Freshman QB Jake Fromm? Notre Dame is looking to rebound from a disastrous last season and a win could boost their confidence. Can Josh Adams repeat his performance for the Irish from the opening game? I’m going with Georgia to pick up the major road win against Notre Dame.

Georgia Win 27-24
