NFL Week 3 Predictions

Welcome to Week 3 of the NFL season as I’m coming off another less than stellar week. My record for last week was 4-3, which makes my overall record 9-7 and winning percentage at 56.3%. This is not how I envisioned starting out the year. The Detroit Lions proved that their offense could be one of the best in the league against the Giants. We could say the same for the Denver offense who lit up Dallas and the defense is looking like the dominant one from 2015. In the NFC, it looks like the Atlanta Falcons have picked up where they left off from last year’s Super Bowl team. They annihilated the Green Bay Packers in their home-opener by pressuring Aaron Rodgers throughout the game. This week I’ll be predicting 8 games with the hopes of increasing my winning percentage. Let’s Get Started!!!

NFL Week 3NFL Week 3This is the Thursday night game as the Los Angeles Rams visiting the winless San Francisco 49ers. The Rams opened the season by blasting the Colts, but fell to the Redskins last week. This will be their first game on the road and it should be a defensive battle. If I had to give the edge to someone on offense, it’ll be the Rams as they have Todd Gurley and a pair of nice receivers. Will that be enough for them to get the win and push them to 2-1? San Francisco lost both of their first 2 games and they only scored a combined 12 points in the process. Carlos Hyde has been the only bright spot as Brian Hoyer has amassed a 10.2 QBR. I’m thinking the Rams defense will help them continue that trend and beat the 49ers.

Los Angeles Wins 24-13

NFL Week 3NFL Week 3This game will take place in London as the Jacksonville Jaguars battle the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore have started the season with a 2-0 record with both wins coming against division rivals. Now those rivals happen to be the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns. Those teams probably have two of the worse offenses in the league. The question is, are the Ravens that good or did they benefit from playing against awful teams? After an impressive 29-7 win over the Texans on opening day, Jacksonville was destroyed by the Tennessee Titans in their home opener. The second game was their first without All-Pro WR Allen Robinson who’s done for the season. Will Bortles continue to struggle? I think he will and the Ravens will pick up the win.

Baltimore Wins 25-16

NFL Week 3NFL Week 3This is probably the game of the week as the Atlanta Falcons travel to Detroit to face the Lions. Atlanta started the season kind of slow against Chicago, but they looked great against Green Bay. The offense is starting to come along and the defense came up with some huge plays. They will be without their All-Pro DE Vic Beasley Jr. for about a month as he nurses a hamstring injury. Will his absence help Matthew Stafford against the Falcons pass rush? The big question people have been asking has been, is Detroit a Super Bowl contender? They beat two teams who many thought could challenge Atlanta in the NFC, but their offenses have struggled. I’m going with the upset and picking the Lions to upset the Falcons.

Detroit Wins 31-30

NFL Week 3NFL Week 3The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pay a visit to Minnesota to face the Vikings. Tampa Bay didn’t play their opener because of Hurricane Irma and had an extra week to prepare for the season. The Buccaneers had an amazing game, but many will see it as they played the Bears. I’ve said that Winston will make a huge leap in play this year with the addition Desean Jackson and O.J. Howard. Minnesota is dealing with Sam Bradford’s injured knee, which is a cause for concern. The Minnesota defense looked great as usual, but with Case Keenan playing QB, the offense looked out of sync. Despite questionable QB play, the Vikings defense should frustrate Winston enough to help pull off the win.

Minnesota Wins 24-17

NFL Week 3NFL Week 3We head to the AFC for this playoff rematch as Houston travel to New England to face the Patriots. It’s crazy after the first week, people started to doubt the New England Patriots. Last week, New England went to New Orleans and showed everyone why they’re the defending champions. Of course, it was New Orleans and they have a historically bad defense down there as Brady picked them apart. Can they continue this offensive explosion against Houston? Last Thursday night, Deshaun Watson made his NFL debut by leading the Texans to their first win in Cincinnati. The offense didn’t look great, but it was done on a short week and they’ll have 10 days to prepare for New England. I’m still picking the Patriots to pick up the win over Houston.

New England Wins 31-21

NFL Week 3NFL Week 3The Seattle Seahawks will travel East this weekend as they head to Tennessee to meet the Titans. The big NFL news thus far is the declining ratings and some think it’s a lack of offense. No matter how you spin it, Seattle’s offense is pathetic as Russell Wilson continues to run for his life. Seattle is 1-1 and they have scored a combined 21 points in those two games. Of course, the defense looked like the dominant one we have come to love. On the other hand, the offense of Tennessee looked great as they ran the ball down the throats of Jacksonville last week. For me, Marcus Mariota is poised to have a breakout season and this will be a tough test for him. In the end, I’m going with the Titans to stun the Seahawks on their home turf.

Tennessee Wins 20-10

NFL Week 3NFL Week 3This is the Sunday night as the Oakland Raiders head to Washington to face the Redskins. Oakland have started this season where they left off last year before David Carr got injured. With the addition of Marshawn Lynch, Oakland is a well-balanced offense and he’s brought a certain laid-back feeling to the team. The Oakland defense still haven’t been tested as they hope to improve on last year’s performance. Can they up their record to 3-0? Washington started the season with a home-loss to Philadelphia, but they rebounded last week against Los Angeles. They will be monitoring Jordan Reed as he nurses a sprained shoulder and rib injury. Oakland is playing great football right now and I expect them to beat the Redskins.

Oakland Wins 31-20

NFL Week 3NFL Week 3We have the Monday Night game as the Dallas Cowboys head to Arizona to battle the Cardinals. After dominating the Giants in their opener, Dallas were beat down by the Broncos last week. There have been so many issues in Cowboys camp as Ezekiel Elliott was shown multiple times not playing hard. Will that drama carry over to their game in Arizona? Will the Dallas offense and defense step up against Arizona? Speaking of terrible offenses, Arizona and especially Carson Palmer have looked awful. With the loss of David Johnson, Palmer will have to do much more despite his struggles and 36.2 QBR. Can the Cardinals take care of home against the Cowboys? I trust Dak more than Carson so I’m picking the Cowboys to win.

Dallas Wins 26-21
