Gods Son from Nas Turns 15 Years Old Today

Gods Son from Nas

f you know me, follow me or read any of my posts, then you know that Nas is my favorite rapper alive. Between 2001 and 2002, Nas had a very busy year, which was highlighted by his much-publicized feud with Jay-Z. Finally, a week before Christmas in 2001, Nas released Stillmatic, which was a classic. On that album, Nas released one of the best diss records ever when he took aim at Jay-Z on Ether. Nas released a few other disses and threw more shots at Jay-Z, but he dropped the classic Los Tapes album in September of 2002. If that wasn’t enough, he dropped his God’s Son album less than three months later. After two highly rated releases in less than a year, did Gods Son live up to lofty expectations? Below is the track listing to the album.

  1. Get Down
  2. The Cross
  3. Made You Look
  4. Last Real Nigga Alive
  5. Zone Out ft. Bravehearts
  6. Hey Nas ft. Claudette Ortiz & Kelis
  7. I Can
  8. Book of Rhymes
  9. Thugz Mansion ft. 2Pac & J. Phoenix
  10. Mastermind
  11. Warrior Song ft. Alicia Keys
  12. Revolutionary Warfare ft. Lakey the Kid
  13. Dance
  14. Heaven ft. Jully Black

The album featured Alicia Keys, Kelis, The Bravehearts and surprisingly 2Pac, who’s other version of Thugz Mansion was featured on his Better Dayz album. My favorite tracks on the album The Cross, Made You Look, Last Real Nigga Alive, I Can, Book of Rhymes, Thugz Mansion, Mastermind and Revolutionary Warfare. While this is a great album, it doesn’t match the quality of the Stillmatic and Lost Tapes albums. Either way, it’s still a nice album that should be in your collection if you’re a fan of Nas or a hip hop fan, like myself. Check out the album below courtesy of Spotify!
