My Take Philadelphia Eagles Finally Winning the Super Bowl

Philadelphia Eagles Finally Winning the Super Bowl

It finally happened! The Philadelphia Eagles have finally won the Super Bowl. I’ll be honest, this is one of the best days of my life seeing them win it all. I’ve got two other teams that has won championships and I was ecstatic. The Boston Red Sox finally winning in 2004 was an awesome experience, then the titles in 2007 and 2013 was the icing on the cake. The Florida State Seminoles winning the titles in 1993, 1999 and 2013 were nice also. When Tom Brady threw that Hail Mary on the final play and the ball hit the ground, you know what hit the fan. My kids were laughing as I took off my Eagles hoodie and hat, tossed them and ran around screaming We Won! We Won! We Won! That was an emotional moment for me and I stated that this was one of the best days EVER.

1987

The Philadelphia Eagles became my favorite team back in 1986 when I was 10-years-old. Randall Cunningham was the QB and he quickly became my favorite player, plus the reason I became an Eagles fan. Reggie White, Jerome Brown, Cris Carter, Clyde Simmons, Seth Joyner, Andre Waters, Keith Byars and Anthony Toney were my other favorites. My dad was so pissed that I wasn’t a Falcons fan, he bought me a necklace with a Falcons charm to sway my decision. It didn’t work, and he was furious when I sold it to someone who loved the Falcons.

1990s

Those early-90s teams should’ve won a Super Bowl with those defenses they had. They were lead by Reggie White and Jerome Brown on that defensive line and they were dominating. Everything seemed to be going in the right direction until the untimely death of Jerome Brown. Reggie White eventually went to the Green Bay Packers where he finally won a championship. Throughout the 90s, things weren’t good until we drafted Donovan McNabb.

2000s

They made one Super Bowl during this time, despite reaching 4 consecutive NFC Championships games. Bryan Westbrook, Brian Dawkins and Terrell Owens were my favorites during that time period. Later on, LeSean McCoy, Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin took the reigns to become my Eagles. With that trio, the chances of winning a Super Bowl with those three on the offensive side of the ball. We actually reached the NFC Championship game in 2008 and that was about it.

2010s

The Andy Reid Era ended and that brought in the Chip Kelly regime. The first year went great and that’s when Nick Foles had his MVP-like season in 2013, when he finished with 27 TDs and 2 INTs. The Eagles made a playoff appearance but fell to the Saints. The Chip Kelly Era ended quickly, Doug Pederson emerged as the new coach and we drafted Carson Wentz. My favorite players on this Eagles team is Carson Wentz, Alshon Jeffrey, Darren Sproles, LeGarrette Blount, Jay Ajayi and the entire front 7 with Malcolm Jenkins on defense. We have finally won the Super Bowl after all this time and we’re really set up to win a few more over the next 7 years.
