The Five Best Winter Workouts for Busy Dads

It may be difficult to admit but being a busy dad can stop you from indulging in activities that allow you to burn calories and keep fit, especially during the winter months! Before you start saying “I’m too tired” or “I have too much to do”, check out the below tips to find out the easiest ways you can keep in shape even with your busy schedule.

Cardio is Key

I know what you are thinking – “I’m no runner”. Luckily, cardio doesn’t mean pounding the pavement like someone out of a Rocky film. Busy dads should include cardio into their weekly routine for at least 15 minutes at a time. Cardio can mean low impact activities such as star jumps, climbing the stairs, the rowing machine, or the stationary bike. If you want more of a challenge, then jump rope or sign up for a nearby boxercise class.

Bodyweight Exercises

It’s tempting to step into a gym and feel that overwhelming urge to pick up some weights, but lots of busy dads don’t have the time to go more than a few days a week! Luckily, you can recreate many bodybuilding activities with your own body weight at home. During the winter months, try body weight exercises that include sets of five with reps of 10 to 12. You can target your upper body through press-ups, dips, and pull ups on chairs, windowsills, or just your living room walls. And don’t forget about your legs with bodyweight squats, lunges, and jumps. Add some testosterone booster supplements for an extra kick before your at-home winter workout.

Be Flexible

Throughout the winter, joints and muscles can stiffen due to the drop-in temperature. Without good flexibility, your range of motion is limited, which in turn limits the health goals you may want to achieve. During these colder months, consider taking up yoga or Pilates and learning some of their techniques and stretches. These classes raise your heart rate and naturally build your overall strength as you fight against your body weight as well and stretch out your muscle mass.

HIIT

There is no replacement for hard work, even during the winter! But as a busy dad, finding the time to exercise can be difficult. Exercise can boost your testosterone, physical well-being, and overall general health. However, specific full body exercises like squats, bench presses, and high intensity interval training (HIIT) which demands 30 secs of work and 30 seconds of rest for 10 to 15 minutes should be included in your busy schedule each week. This form of quick high intensity exercise together with testosterone booster supplements will get busy dads ready for action throughout the winter.

Winter Variety

The winter months can be long, dark, and bleak. However, the word “exercise” shouldn’t send your mind to a hot and stuffy gym where people are working out just for the sake of it. The more fun you have, the more likely you are to stick to a routine. Stay out of the wind, wet, and cold by turning your weekly exercise into indoor cycling or rowing. Try your hand at a new indoor activity like rock climbing, boot camp, or kickboxing classes to introducing some variety without dealing with the cold.

These short and sharp exercises are crucial to developing your health, especially if you’re a busy dad! Any exercise routine will help you relieve stress and improve your sleep along the way.
