Daniel Bryan Cleared: 9 Wrestlers He Should Face

This past Tuesday, March 20th was one of the happiest days of my life. My oldest daughter turned 18-years-old and she’s about a couple months away from graduating high school. During the afternoon, I received breaking news from my WWE app and it had to do with Daniel Bryan. If you follow WWE, then you know that he’s been cleared to return to the ring. Seeing it was hours before SmackDown, we knew that something major would happen. Of course, he opened SmackDown Live with an emotional promo about his journey from having to retire to working his ass off to get cleared. The promo was awesome, and it set the tone for SmackDown Live. At the end of the night, he fired Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, so they attacked him. After seeing him fight back, it got me wondering who’s some guys he should feud with.

A.J. Styles

Everyone knows that Shinsuke Nakamura facing A.J. Styles is a Dream Match in WWE taking place at WrestleMania 34. A.J. Styles and Daniel Bryan are both capable of putting on classic matches with damn near anyone. If you put them in the ring and give them around 25-30 minutes, you’ll get an instant classic. If Daniel Bryan can remain healthy, I’m thinking we have our main event for WrestleMania 35 right here.

Shinsuke Nakamura

We all know the influence Japan had on the style of Daniel Bryan. It’s sad that Kenta aka Hideo Itami couldn’t stay healthy because Bryan really wanted to face him. Shinsuke Nakamura has the same style and have stated he wanted to face Daniel Bryan. When Daniel Bryan was officially cleared, Nakamura tweeted at Bryan saying he’d love to face him.

Finn Balor

Just like Daniel Bryan, Finn Balor had an amazing following before landing in the WWE. Daniel Bryan was part of the infant stage of NXT and Balor thrived to become an NXT champion. As far as the ring, these two would put on an instant classic. With Balor on Raw and Bryan on SmackDown, it would be impossible, but with both brands being together for PPVs anything can happen.

The Miz

These two have been at each other’s throats ever since Daniel Bryan debuted in the WWE. The Miz was his coach in NXT and later on, Daniel Bryan defeated the Miz for the United States title. After Daniel Bryan was forced to retire, he became the new General Manager for SmackDown Live. When the Miz arrived there, he became the biggest thorn in the side of Daniel Bryan and even mocked him for not being able to compete. Many thought Bryan was cleared during this time because it seemed like their feud was headed for a match. On one of the SmackDown Live after shows, the Miz ripped into Bryan and it went viral. The Miz has even used a lot of Daniel Bryan moves in the ring so the feud could write itself.

Samoa Joe

Just like Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe started in the Ring of Honor and became an all-time great. Many people thought that these two wouldn’t never meet again because no one saw Joe going to the WWE. Samoa Joe is one of the best wrestlers in the world and can move around like Daniel Bryan. They have faced each other in Ring of Honor and seeing them go head-to-head in the WWE would be a treat for the fans.

Kurt Angle

This is another dream match that many have wanted to see. Going back a few years, Kurt Angle stated he would love to face Daniel Bryan in his retirement match. Once upon a time, that was viewed as impossible, but now we could see that match. Kurt Angle and Daniel Bryan have been viewed as two of the greatest in-ring performers of all-time. Despite Angle being up there in age and injuries taking a toll on his body, this could still be a classic wrestling match.

Rey Mysterio

With his appearance at the Royal Rumble getting one of the best pops, Mysterio has been in talks about a return. Daniel Bryan can work any style and with Mysterio, those two could create some much-talked about magic. Hopefully, we get a Rey Mysterio return and a match with Daniel Bryan in the process.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

If you have followed SmackDown Live, many thought Bryan would eventually side with Owens and Zayn. Bryan, Shane McMahon, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been going at each other for a while now. With Owens and Zayn attacking Bryan on this past edition of SmackDown Live, this could happen. With WrestleMania less than three weeks away, it’s rumored that we’ll get Bryan/Shane versus Owens/Zayn. Afterwards, Bryan could feud with either one of them or one after the other in the future.

There are other guys Bryan has faced like Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose I’d like to see him face again. Are you excited about the return of Daniel Bryan? Who are some guys you like to see him face in the ring?
