5 Fun and Creative Date Night Ideas

When you become parents, the struggles and juggle of life are very real. It can feel like you’re going from one thing to the next, with very little rest. And any of your spare time may be taken up with chores or trying to take a nap. But at the end of the day, it is still important to be with your partner and remember why the children were there in the first place. Date nights as a couple are important. And while it can be hard to get out of the house, date nights away from home can be much needed. Otherwise, there are too many distractions that it will likely turn the evening into doing all of the things that you need to get done, instead of really talking, planning, and having fun.

So if you need to make more of an effort to get together as a couple, here are some fun date night ideas for you to think about.

5 Fun and Creative Date Night Ideas

Plan a Picnic

Now that summer is around the corner, it is a great time to plan a picnic. A day-date can be a good time for this, though they can be few and far between. But with warm evenings that stay lighter for longer, getting to the park with a picnic basket, blanket, and bottle of wine, can be a low-cost, low-key date, but still lots of fun. Watch the sunset together and you’ve crossed super romantic off the list too.

Escape Room

There are plenty of escape rooms that are cropping up all around the country, so there is likely to be one near you. But what an escape room is, is a chance to play games or solve puzzles, in order to move around each room, and to get out eventually. They can be done as a couple, and can even work well as a double date, if you’ve got friends or family close by that can join you for it.

Recreate Your First Date

It can be fun to head down memory lane and do your first date all over again. It could be that you just went for a drink or for coffee, or something bigger like a trip to the zoo, beach, or funfair. If you can go back to the exact same spot, then that can be really fun, as you reminisce about first getting together, and looking at how far you’ve come.

Dessert Only Dinner

Skip the main meal and get straight to dessert. It is a fun way to spend time together, and works when you’re a little short on time. Plus, I’m not sure of many parents that won’t welcome eating dessert in peace, without having to share it with several little people.

Be a Tourist Where You Live

When you live somewhere, you often forget about some of the charm and wonder of the place, as it is something that you see every day. So spend an afternoon or evening being a tourist in your own town or city, and do all of the things that you wouldn’t normally do.
