NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018

This year, I’ll be doing my college football prediction on my other website. After an incredibly crazy offseason, we finally get back to some real action. Coming into this season, we can honestly say that the NFC is like the Western Conference in the NBA. They are stacked with about seven teams that could potentially make a Super Bowl run. Philadelphia, Atlanta, Minnesota, New Orleans, Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay and Carolina have legitimate chances. In the AFC, we all know about New England, but Pittsburgh, Houston, Jacksonville, Tennessee and the Los Angeles Chargers are threats. We kick things off with Atlanta visiting the defending Super Bowl Champs, the Philadelphia Eagles. Monday night football will feature a pair of games to finish the week. We’ll kick things off with 9 games with the hopes of having some great games.

NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018We start things off at the home of the defending Super Champions. The Atlanta Falcons will visit the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of their close playoff match-up. The Eagles barely escaped with the 15-10 win to advance to the NFC Championship game. The Falcons enter this game as healthy as any team in the league with lofty expectations. Julio Jones says he’s as healthy as ever and after a spat with management, he finally received more money. Can the Falcons go to Philly and open with a win? The Eagles will be without Carson Wentz and Alshon Jeffrey, two key parts of their offense. On the defensive side of the ball, their defensive line is one of the best in the league. The Eagles offense has struggled throughout the preseason and will do so against the Falcons defense. I’m riding with the Falcons to win! Atlanta Wins 24-14

NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018We head to Minnesota as the NFC runners-up with battle the San Francisco 49ers. San Francisco gave Jimmy Garoppolo a huge contract extension after the way he finished last season. Unfortunately for the 49ers, newly signed Jerick McKinnon with a torn ACL. During the offseason, San Francisco added Richard Sherman during the offseason. Will the 49ers be able to contend with the Rams in the NFC West? Minnesota is trying to build on their great season from a year ago. Minnesota started the spending spree this offseason by giving Kirk Cousins $84 million guaranteed. The offense will get back Dalvin Cook, who rookie season was cut short by an ACL tear. Once again, the Vikings will have one of the best defenses in the league as they’re stacked on all three levels. I’m riding with the Vikings to win this! Minnesota Wins 30-17

NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018We travel to Gillette Stadium as the New England Patriots battle the Houston Texans. New England is coming off another Super Bowl run, which ended in a defeat to the Eagles. New England has had quite the offseason with so much going on in the organization. At first, we didn’t know if Gronk or Tom Brady would return as they flirted with retirement. Throughout training camp, the Patriots went through a plethora of WRs. Julian Edelman will start the season serving a 4-game suspension because of PEDs. With Houston, they get back their franchise QB in Deshaun Watson as he returns from his knee injury. Houston will see the return of J.J. Watt on defense, plus they added the Honey Badger in their secondary. This was one of the better games last year and should be another good one, but the Patriots should prevail. New England Wins 31-24

NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018The Jacksonville Jaguars will head to New York and face the Giants. Jacksonville is hoping to make the next step in the AFC and reach the Super Bowl. The Jaguars have made a lot of noise during the offseason, well just Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey and the Jaguars defense will have their hands full with the Giants offense. I’m predicting both teams to win their division, could this be a Super Bowl preview? Can Blake Bortles continue his great play into this year? The revamped Giants offense will see the return of Odell Beckham Jr., who got his contract and their top pick Saquon Barkley. New York have a lot of questions to be answered on the defensive side of the ball. New York will be a much better team this year and it’ll be on display against Jacksonville. I’m rolling with the Giants to win! New York Wins 24-20

NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018We begin the season with a major AFC West matchup as the Kansas City Chiefs head to Los Angeles and battle the Chargers. These are the two teams that should be battling for supremacy in the division. After trading away Alex Smith, Kansas City will hand the team over to Patrick Maholmes. Maholmes has the arm to make all the throws and some, plus he has some nice targets on offense. In addition to what he already had, they signed Sammy Watkins also. With the Los Angeles Chargers, they’re my preseason pick to win the AFC West. After drafting Derwin James, Los Angeles will have one of the better defenses. On offense, they still have Philip Rivers and one of the top WRs in the league in Keenan Allen. With Hunter Henry being out for the year, they brought back Antonio Gates and I think they win this one. Los Angeles Wins 26-24

NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018We head to Carolina as the Panthers will host the Dallas Cowboys. Carolina will be without their All-Pro LB Thomas Davis for the first four games as he serves his suspension for PEDs. Cam Newton looks to be as healthy as he’s been in a long time. Christian McCaffrey will ease into the role as starting RB with the Panthers letting go of Jonathon Stewart. The Panthers are continuing to improve their secondary and their front four has been upgraded also. Can the Panthers challenge the Falcons and Saints this year? The Dallas Cowboys are hoping to repeat their 2016 season. They released Dez Bryant while bringing in Allen Hurns to take his place. Ezekiel Elliot should be back for a full season with the Cowboys this year. If healthy, can the Cowboys make a run in their division? I’m going with the Cowboys to barely edge the Panthers. Dallas Wins 27-24

NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018We have the first Sunday night game of the year and it’s between tow bitter rivals. The Chicago Bears will travel to Lambeau Field to battle the Green Bay Packers. The big news over the last several days in the NFL is Oakland trading Khalil Mack to Chicago. After the trade, the Bears gave Mack the largest contract for someone on defense. Chicago could be one of the scarier teams in the league when they gel. On offense, they added pieces around Mitchell Trubisky and with Mack on defense, they could be top-10 in the league. Green Bay will get a healthy Aaron Rodgers back and he’s coming off of signing that huge extension to remain in Green Bay the rest of his career. Will Rodgers feel the effects of losing Jordy Nelson? Can the Bears defense contain Rodgers? I’m rolling with the Packers to barely edge the Bears! Green Bay Wins 24-21

NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018NFL Week 1 Predictions 2018The first Monday night game will feature the New York Jets traveling to Detroit to face the Lions. As we all know, New York has named their top pick, Sam Darnold as the starter. The New York Jets are hoping the rookie can them a boost. The Jets have bolstered their offense and defense, but can it translate into some wins? Can this newly, revamped defense stop Matthew Stafford and the Lions offense? With Detroit, they still have some great pieces on defense, but they lost a lot also. Matthew Stafford is still one of the elite QBs in the league, but he’ll need a running game. They went out and brought in LeGarrette Blount to help with that situation. With the Lions having to face a rookie on the big stage of Monday night football, it’s hard to choose the Jets. I’m rolling with the Lions! Detroit Wins 30-17

In the final game on Monday night and the week, we have a battle of two California teams. The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Oakland to face the Raiders. The Rams have built themselves a super team by adding several pieces to last year’s team. On defense, they added two Pro Bowl CBs in Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters, plus Ndamukong Suh. They finally done the right thing by giving Aaron Donald the money he deserves. On the other side, Oakland will start the Jon Gruden Era again. All Pro Khalil Mack was holding out for a new deal, but he was dealt to Chicago last week. The Oakland defense will suffer without Mack, but the offense should be really good. For me, the absence of Khalil Mack will sting and facing the Rams will be a challenge with their high powered offense. I’m rolling with the Rams to take this one. Los Angeles Wins 34-21
