Plumber master Ed Del Grande explains some key steps of how to replace the kitchen faucet and provided some suggestions for easy work. By the way, we recommend you to buy the best faucet so that it will be easier to be installed and it will be more durable.

Step 1

Turn the water off

Before starting, you need to turn the water off at the cut-off valve below the sink. Turn the tap on and drain the excess water. Disconnect hot water and cold water supply line from globe valve by using small adjustable wrench.

Step 2

Take the old faucet down

Stick the tap behind the tap by using a basin wrench. Then screw down the connecting nut of the water pipe and the faucet. Remove the mounting nut of the fixed faucet in place by using a basin wrench. When the nut is damaged, pick up the old faucet and separate the sprayer hose from the components with adjustable wrench. Take out the spray hose. After taking off the tap, clean the sink surface thoroughly with a clean cloth. If the shape of the hose cap is good, you may need to open it. If not, please change it to the one attached to the new and the best faucet.

Step 3

Position new sprayer hose

The new sprayer hose is slid downward through the spraying hole and is then fed upward through the central tap hole. Connect the hose to the sprayer joint with adjustable wrench.

Step 4

Flexible connector connection

Depending on the brand, the cold and hot pipes on the tap may be different. It just like men’s shapewear has some differences from women’s shapewear. You have to choose according to your actual needs. You may need to connect flexible connectors to tap water for specific installations. In this case, connect them to the fittings on the faucet water supply pipe. And you have to use two wrenches , one wrench is needed to fix the tap fittings, and the other is used to turn and tighten the master fittings on the flexible connector. You may consider installing a flange to help join the pipes. The pipe flange will be beneficial in the future when it comes to maintenance and repair. This double wrench technology helps prevent twisting and damaging the copper supply line of the faucet.

(Note: You need to operate according to the size of the hole. You can only connect the flexible connector before installing the faucet assembly. In this situation, you need to install one of them from below first then wait for another step. It will sink as long as the faucet is in place.)

Step 5

Install the components of plastic nut washer or the washer and nut below the sink onto the end bolt that holds the tap in place. Tighten the nut with your hands and tighten with the basin spanner. Seat the faucet. Insert the connector and power cord into the center hole to ensure that the washer of the faucet is properly aligned and the faucet is installed.

Step 6

Tighten the connection

If second flexible connectors have not yet been connected, connect the male connector to the globe valve. Tighten the connection by using adjustable wrench. Turn on the water on the globe valve and turn on the tap to check whether it works normally. Even if all the above installation steps are completed accurately, you may not get the best faucet, but it will make your faucet work well. The quality of each component and the correct installation method affect the usage of the faucet.
