R. Kelly Dropped Double Album 20 Years Ago

R. Kelly is arguably the greatest male R&B artist of this generation. Throughout the years, R. Kelly has faced his share of controversy that almost landed him in prison. During the 90s, everything he touched was an instant classic and that’s including his remixes. Yesterday, R. Kelly celebrated the 25-year anniversary of his solo, debut classic album, 12 Play. 12 Play put him on the map and it’s still considered one of the greatest R&B albums. 20 years ago today, R. Kelly released his double albums called R. With all the success R. Kelly have had over the years, R is his best selling album to date. The album went on to sell over 8 million copies and well over 12 million worldwide. I Believe I Can Fly was released a couple years earlier on the Space Jam soundtrack kicked off the album.

I Believe I Can Fly was the #1 R&B song in the country and one of the better R. Kelly tracks. Nas, Jay-Z, Cam’ron, Keith Murray, Celine Dion, Foxy Brown, Crucial Conflict and NORE were all featured on the album. This album was definitely a step below, but still a dope project. Home Alone, Half on a Baby, When a Woman’s Fed Up, We Ride, Only the Loot Can Make Me Happy and If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time are my top songs on Disc 1. Disc 2 had Did You Ever Think, Down Low Double Life, I’m Your Angel, Money Makes the World Go Round and I Believe I Can Fly are my records. Below you can stream the double album.
