Twista Kamikaze Released 15 Years Ago Today

Twista have been in the rap game for well over 25 years now. When he first hit the scene with his debut album in 1992, he was known as Tung Twista for his rapid rhymes. While Twista was popular up north, Twista didn’t take off until he appeared on Do or Die’s smash hit, Po Pimp. Afterwards, Twista released his classic Adrenaline Rush album and he catapulted into superstardom. Fast forward to 2004, Twista wasn’t heard from since his group album with Speedknot Mobstaz called Mobstability in 1998. Twista released his 4th album, Kamikaze and it became his highest selling project as it went platinum. Slow Jamz was the first single and it featured Jaime Foxx and Kanye West. The track also appeared on Kanye’s debut album, College Dropout and Kanye produced three tracks on the album. Slow Jamz was a smash hit and it’s a dope track.

Kamikaze also featured Too Short, 8Ball, R. Kelly, Ludacris, Anthony Hamilton, Jazze Pha, Cee-Lo, Danny Boy, T.I. and more. In March of the following year, Kanye West helped with his following single, Overnight Celebrity. This was another banger from Twista and Kanye West. Overnight Celebrity received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance in 2005. Twista released three more single before the end of 2004. While Adrenaline Rush gets a lot of us old heads attention, Kamikaze is Twista’s best overall album. After this album dropped, my thinking was that him and Kanye would work together more but that didn’t take place. Below is the track listing and it’s followed by the link to the stream.
