4 Possible Destinations for Anthony Davis

4 Possible Destinations for Anthony Davis

There has been breaking news this morning and it comes from the NBA. The agent for Anthony Davis has notified the team that he won’t sign an extension and want to be traded from the New Orleans Pelicans. Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the league and he’s definitely in everyone’s top-5 or 10. Anthony Davis can go to any team in the league and change the dynamics of that franchise. In New Orleans, they never kept great talent around him as he continued to put up worldly numbers on a nightly basis. Anthony Davis will turn 26 in March, so any team that acquires his services is still getting one of the young stars in the league. The big question now is, where will Anthony Davis be playing next?

Los Angeles Lakers

This has been rumored ever since Lebron James made the jump to the Lakers. His agent, Rich Paul is of course one of the Lebron’s childhood friends. When Davis hired Paul, people opened their eyes and thought there’s more there. Afterwards, Davis stated he has no intention of playing with Lebron and he’s committed to the Pelicans. Los Angeles have plenty of assets that the Pelicans would find intriguing. The Lakers have some draft picks, but the talent on the roster is more appealing. Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Ivica Zubac could be guys that New Orleans would look at. With rumors that Lebron want another star to play beside him, Anthony Davis would be that perfect star.

Boston Celtics

Let’s be honest, the Boston Celtics can offer the Pelicans more than any other team in the league. The one issue is that they can’t trade for Davis because of the collective bargaining agreement. Davis — and Boston point guard Kyrie Irving — are both signed under the Designated Player Rookie Extension. NBA rules say that a team cannot acquire two players via trade who are signed to this type of deal. Boston traded for Irving prior to the 2017-18 season. Irving can be a free agent this summer by opting out of the final year of his deal. Once he does, Boston could trade for Davis. Boston has Jason Tatum, Jaylen Brown and up to four draft picks in this coming draft.

New York Knicks

Madison Square Garden is the Mecca of basketball and somewhere everyone loves to play at. While the Knicks aren’t having a great season, they have some pieces for the future. Kristaps Porzingis is still recovering from his torn ACL last season. Kevin Knox and Allonzo Trier are good pieces to go along with Porzingis. Enes Kanter have voiced his frustration on lack of playing time and he could be a part of the trade. The Knicks could offer Knox, Trier, Kanter and a possible lottery pick.

Portland Trailblazers

For years, I’ve been wanting another star to go to the Portland Trailblazers. Damian Lillard is one of my favorite players in the league. Portland is one of the more talented teams in the league and the addition of Anthony Davis could make them an instant contender. For this to happen, New Orleans may want someone like C.J. McCollum and Zach Collins would be great pieces. The Trailblazers would have a starting five of Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Jusef Nurkic, Seth Curry and Maurice Harkless. The bench would be nice also and this would definitely put them in the top 4 of the West.
