Donic and Trae Young will be forever linked to each other after the Draft night trade. The Atlanta Hawks drafted Luka Doncic with the 3rd pick and Trae Young went to the Mavericks at the five spot. Dallas sent Trae Young and a protected first round pick for Luka Doncic. Trae Young have played in all 61 games for Atlanta, so he’s been reliable. Young is averaging 17.5 points and 7.7 assists a game so far this season. As the season continued, Trae Young is continuing to step his game up more. In his last 10 games, Trae Young is averaging 21.6 points and 9.2 assists a game.
John Collins continues to improve on a nightly basis himself. In the game against the Rockets, John Collins finished with 20 points and 12 boards. For the season, Collins is averaging 19.1 points and 9.6 rebounds a game. Collins have improved on his 3-point shooting and during All-Star weekend, both of them left their mark. John Collins dazzled in the USA vs. World game and Trae Young was in the running for MVP. During the last 10 games for John Collins, his numbers are slightly below his season average. Collins have been averaging 18.6 points and 8.9 boards during that stretch. Let’s take in account that Collins only managed 8 points and 1 rebound in that awful game against the Knicks. If we didn’t count that Knicks game, His average would be 19.8 points and 9.8 boards.
With guys like Omari Spellman and Kevin Huerter to go along with those multiple draft picks this year, Atlanta has a bright future. Hopefully, we can add a couple of good free agents in the process and hopefully contend for a playoff spot next year.
