Listen to My Top 5 Albums from T.I.

Last week, we had the original King of the South in Scarface. T.I. have been calling himself the King of the South for quite a few years now. When he first started to call himself that, there were a lot of people taking excepting to it. Either way, over the years T.I. have earned that name with the great projects he’s released. T.I. been in the game for well over 15 years as he dropped his debut album in 2001. I’m Serious was his debut album and it was an instant southern classic. Because I’m Serious selling over 270,000 copies, T.I. was dropped from the label. In 2003, T.I. launched Grand Hustle Entertainment and went on the release the Trap Muzik project. Trap Muzik was a dope project, but where does it rank in T.I.’s discography. Let’s check out my top 5 albums from T.I. for Music Monday.

Trap Muzik

Trap Muzik was the second album released by T.I. back in 2003. 24s and Be Easy were the first two singles from Trap Muzik. They were great tracks, but when he dropped Rubber Band Man towards the end of the year it was a wrap. Trap Muzik went on to go platinum and T.I. became a star in the rap game. Rubber Band Man made people take notice of T.I. as the video had damn near everybody in it. 8Ball & MJG, Jazze Pha and Bun B all appeared on the album. Kanye West, David Banner, DJ Toomp and many others handled the production. T.I. released the final single for Trap Muzik in the summer of 2004. Let’s Get Away was the perfect track for the summer and it catered to the ladies. Trap Muzik is one of the dopest albums and definitely my favorite one from T.I.

Urban Legend

Urban Legend was the third album from T.I. and his follow-up to Trap Muzik. T.I. released Let’s Get Away off Trap Muzik in the summer and Bring Em Out in the fall for Urban Legend. Urban Legend felt like a continuation of Trap Muzik and that’s a good thing. T.I. stepped up his features for this album and Urban Legend went on to become platinum. Trick Daddy, Lil Jon, Nelly, Lil Wayne, Daz Dillinger, Lil Kim, Pharrell, B.G. and the PSC all appear. The production came from David Banner, DJ Toomp, Lil Jon, The Neptunes and many others. U Don’t Know and ASAP were also singles released from Urban Legend also. Once again, T.I. released another classic, but not as good as Trap Muzik. Urban Legend is my second favorite album from T.I.

Paper Trail

Paper Trail is the sixth album released from T.I. Paper Trail sold well over 500, 000 copies the first week making it Gold out the gate. Paper Trail went on to go double Platinum. Paper Trail featured Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Rihanna, Usher, John Legend and Justin Timberlake. For Paper Trail, T.I. released a grand total of eight singles for this album. On Top of the World featured Ludacris, which was surprising because they took shots at each other several times over the years. Those singles were released between April of 2008 to January 2009. During this period, T.I. was awaiting trial for his federal weapons and possession charges.  Paper Trail is my third favorite album released by T.I.

King

King was the fourth album released by T.I. and it speaks for itself. During this time, T.I. anointed himself as the King of the South. T.I. also released the ATL movie while he was prepping the King album. The album sold over 500,000 copies in the first week of its release. King was released in March of 2006 and the first single was What You Know. King had a plethora of features for this album and the album had several award nominations also. UGK, Jeezy, B.G., Young Buck, Jamie Foxx, Young Dro, DJ Drama, Common and Pharrell were amongst the guests. This was another incredible album and sometimes I’ll put it over Paper Trail. Either way, as of now this is my fourth favorite album from T.I.

T.I. vs. T.I.P

As far as the fifth album, this was a toss up between this one and the Trouble Man album. The final decision went to the T.I. vs. T.I.P. album and it was his fifth project. This album was released the day before the 4th of July in 2007. Once again, T.I. vs. T.I.P. had a lot of nominations and even won favorite rap artist for 2007 by the American Music Awards. The album sold over 470,000 copies in the first week of its release. Big Things Poppin’ (Do It) was the first single for the album. The album was released at the beginning of the spring and it was a major hit. Mannie Fresh produced the track and it was named as one of the best songs from 2007. Jay-Z, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Nelly and Wyclef all appeared on the album. This is my fifth favorite album from T.I.

What do you think about my top 5 albums from T.I.? What’s your top 5 albums from T.I.? T.I. dropped a new album last year called Dime Trap. T.I. have been more of an activist as of late and I’m not mad at him at all as he refers to himself as the new 2Pac. Either way, peep his top 5 album according to myself and leave some feedback below.
