Daddy’s Hangout 2019 NBA Finals Prediction

Daddy’s Hangout 2019 NBA Finals Prediction

The 2019 NBA Finals are set as the Toronto Raptors host the 2-time defending champion, Golden State Warriors. This will mark the first time an NBA Finals game will be played outside the United States. The Raptors reached their first NBA Finals by beating the Bucks in six games. The Warriors reached their fifth consecutive NBA Finals by sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers. Kevin Durant have already been ruled out of Game 1 as he’s still dealing with his calf strain. Boogie Cousins is questionable as he’s still dealing with his torn quad. Golden State comes into this series as heavy favorites to 3-peat and hoist their fourth title in five years. Ever since Kevin Durant went down, Steph Curry has played like a man possessed.

In the Portland series, Steph Curry scored at least 35 points in all four games. Klay Thompson have contributed on both ends of the floor. Thompson can get hot at any time and he’s one of the better defenders in the league. Speaking of defenders and stepping their game up, Draymond Green is having an amazing playoff run. The Warriors enter Game 1 on a 6-game winning streak, can they continue that streak?

Toronto is making their first appearance in the NBA Finals. Kawhi Leonard have been spectacular during this playoff run and arguably the best player in the playoffs. The supporting cast of Leonard have stepped up also. Kyle Lowry have been spectacular and usually another star helps out throughout the playoffs. Fred VanVleet, Serge Ibaka, Marc Gasol, Pascal Siakim and Norman Powell all have stepped up sometimes in the playoffs. One of their better defenders could play in the NBA Finals. OG Anunoby haven’t played in the playoffs could return for the Raptors. Can the Raptors capture the franchise’s first NBA Championship?

How Can Toronto Win This Series?

Toronto have been persistent throughout this playoff run. Many thought that the Sixers eliminate the Raptors, but they proved everyone wrong. After losing the first two games against Milwaukee, damn near everybody had the Bucks advancing to the NBA Finals. Toronto won four consecutive games and now they’re here. Once again, Toronto will be an underdog, but they do have a shot at winning this series. Kawhi Leonard will have to continue his awesome play and even step it up more. Leonard will have to play major minutes and be a factor on the offensive and defensive side. Everyone will need to step their games up in every game in this series. The Warriors bench isn’t the best in the world, but the Raptors can contribute with the best in the league. If all of these things come together, we could see Toronto hoist their first NBA title. Remember the last time Kawhi was in the playoffs? Leonard was leading the Spurs to a Game 1 20-something point lead before going down with an injury.

How Can Golden State Win This Series?

The 2-time defending champions are looking to win their third consecutive title and four in five years. If Kevin Durant doesn’t play all series, the Splash Brothers will need to continue their crazy run. Draymond Green will have to guard the likes of Serge Ibaka, Marc Gasol and maybe even Kawhi Leonard at times. Green will need to continue to have an impact on both sides of the ball. If the Warriors were to get Cousins and Durant back, how will they’re conditioning be? Will it mess up the flow of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson? The health of Andre Iguodala is a question mark also heading into this series. In the end, if the Warriors are somewhat healthy, they should win this series.

Who Wins the Series?

On one hand, it’s hard to bet against one of the best teams in history in Golden State. On the other hand, it’s hard to bet against the will and determination of Kawhi Leonard. These playoffs have reminded people how great he is and how his team feed off of him. The health of Durant and Cousins will play a factor in this series. If OG Anunoby can pick up where he left off, I’m digging the chances of the Raptors. At the end of the day, Golden State is just too damn good. I’ve picked against the Raptors Against the Sixers and Bucks. Unfortunately, I’m picking against them again as my pick is for the Warriors to win it in six games.

Golden State Wins Series 4-2
