We all know this has been one of the hottest summers in recent memory. Whenever the weather is hot, it takes away your appetite and makes you want to eat more fruits. One of my favorite fruits to eat has always been watermelon. Watermelon is something that i usually take to work or even eat for dinner. Many people know that watermelon is good for them, but don’t know how good. Below are some of the health benefits of it. Below are seven benefits from eating watermelon.

Filled with Lycopene

The red color of watermelon comes from lycopene. Lycopene helps curb your risk of contracting cancer or diabetes. Many people don’t know this, but watermelon has more nutrients than any other fruit or vegetable. The fruits that are bright red have the most lycopene in them. The seedless melons have more lycopene than the ones with seeds.

Helps with Your Heart

Watermelon is rich in an amino acid called citrulline that may help move blood through your body and can lower your blood pressure. The lycopene in the watermelon helps with the heart as it lowers the risk of heart attacks. You still need to eat healthy and endure a healthier lifestyle, but eating watermelon helps too.

Helps with Your Joints

I’m getting older now and my joints aren’t what they used to be. Watermelon has a natural pigment called beta-cryptoxanthin that may protect your joints from inflammation. Some studies show that over time, it could make you less likely to get rheumatoid arthritis.

Vitamin A is really good on your eyes. Just one serving of watermelon gives you more than 30% of the vitamin A you need each day. This nutrient is one of the keys to keeping your eyes healthy. As we get older, our eyes aren’t as good as they used to be. My love for watermelon will at least helps with my declining health of my eyes.

With all of this hot weather, you need to stay hydrated. It’s really easy to get dehydrated in weather like this and it’s good to have watermelon around. Juicy watermelon is 92% water, so it’s a simple way to help stay hydrated. Every cell in your body needs water.

Watermelon is Good for Your Skin

The older we get; our skin begins to show how badly we’ve treated it over the years. Vitamins A, B6, and C in watermelon help your skin stay soft, smooth, and supple. Because it’s loaded with water, melon also makes a great face mask.

Good with Working Out

Watermelon’s high water content, antioxidants, and amino acids may make for a better workout. It’s also high in potassium, a mineral that could cut down on cramps at the gym. You can sip watermelon juice after you sweat, too. Doing so could help prevent muscle soreness, as long as you don’t push yourself too hard.
