We have the AFC East and North out of the way for 2019. Let’s turn our attention to the competitive AFC South and see who will walk out as the division winner in 2019. In a tough three team race, Houston managed to walk away with the division title over the Colts and Titans. The Texans beat out the Colts by one game and the Titans finished two games behind. Jacksonville finished last, but the previous season they almost reached the Super Bowl. In 2019, if all the teams remain healthy, this could be one of the tightest divisions in football. Who will win the AFC South division in 2019?
Houston Texans
In 2019, Deshaun Watson could be someone to look out for as a possible MVP candidate. In the NFL Draft, the Texans drafted well and added help on the offensive line. The other issue Houston had last season was the secondary. They addressed by adding help at the cornerback and safety position through free agency. Houston is hoping that Will Fuller can be healthy as they have one of the better receiving corp. Recently, Houston added Duke Johnson via trade with the Cleveland Browns to help in the backfield. Will the Texans repeat as division champions in 2019?
Indianapolis Colts
Despite not winning the division, Indianapolis made the playoffs as the 6th seed. In the first round of the playoffs, the Colts beat their division rivals Houston on the road. Indianapolis have continued to build their team up to be legit Super Bowl contenders. Andrew Luck continues to be the key piece to as far this team can go. Currently, he’s dealing with some lingering injuries with the hopes of being ready for the regular season. They also boosted their defense in free agency. They added one of the better pass rushers in Justin Houston and added some young guys around him. If Luck can stay healthy, this Colts team could be playing in the AFC title game.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville was one of the more surprising teams in 2018. After defeating New England, Jacksonville seemed to lost their way and eventually finished last in the division. The year before, the Jaguars was oh-so-close to reaching the Super Bowl. Jacksonville signed Nick Foles and finally cut ties with Blake Bortles. With Foles, they’re hoping to have a signal caller that don’t make mistakes. With the team Jacksonville have, they’re hoping Foles can return them to their winning ways. The Jaguars still have one of the better defenses in the league, can they win the AFC South in 2019?
Tennessee Titans
The Titans finished third in the AFC South in 2018. If the Titans are going to take that next step, Marcus Mariota will need to remain healthy. Marcus Mariota isn’t expected to stay healthy for an entire season, so they signed Ryan Tannehill as a backup. Tannehill is a great signing for the Titans, and he gives them some confidence if Mariota goes down. To protect Mariota, they signed Rodger Saffold to a 4-year deal. Tennessee also added help in the receiving core by signing Adam Humphries from Tampa Bay. Can the Titans claim the AFC South this season?
