After a crazy opening weekend of action, it’s time for Week 2 of college football. Last week, my record was 4-2 and the losses were games both teams should’ve won. Florida State blew an 18-point lead to eventually fall to Boise State. In the other game, Auburn scored with about 9 seconds remaining to upend the Oregon Ducks. With Florida beating Miami a couple weeks ago, my overall record is 5-2. Coming into my 2019 Week 2 college football predictions my winning percentage is 71.4%. We have a pair of great games that features ranked teams battling each other. The 12th ranked Texas A&M Aggies travel to Clemson to face the top ranked Tigers. We also have the 6th ranked LSU Tigers traveling to Texas to face the 9th ranked Longhorns. This week I’ll be predicting another three games.
The top ranked Clemson will host the 12th ranked Texas A&M Aggies in the big game of the week. The Tigers disposed of the Yellow Jackets in their home opener last week. Travis Etienne showed why he’s one of the best RBs in the country. Trevor Lawrence tossed a pair of INTs as he started the season off on the wrong foot. Clemson is still the favorite to win it all and Lawrence is regarded as the best QB in the nation. Can they upend the Aggies? Texas A&M opened the season with a blowout win over Texas State. The Aggies are hoping to contend in the dreaded SEC West this year and this could boost their confidence. The Aggies are a wonderful team, but they don’t have enough to beat Clemson on the road.
Clemson Win 41-27
We have the first battle of the season between two top-10 teams. The 6th ranked LSU Tigers will face the 9th ranked Texas Longhorns. LSU comes into this season as one of the best teams in the country with several returning starters. The Tigers got off to a great start to the year as they blew out Georgia Southern 55-3. Joe Burrow looked like the QB that the Tigers have finally found a QB that they can depend on. Can they head to Texas and beat the Longhorns? As far as Texas is concerned, they took out Louisiana Tech 45-14. Texas is still riding a high after they upset Georgia in the Sugar Bowl last year. If Texas can beat the Tigers, this will go a long way to their championship dreams. Will Texas be able to beat the Tigers to make a huge statement? This is a tough one, but I’m riding with the Tigers to win on the road.
LSU Win 24-23
We head out west for a late night game between Pac-12 rivals. The 23rd ranked Stanford Cardinal will travel to Los Angeles to face the USC Trojans. The Cardinal is coming off a tough win over the gritty Northwestern Wildcats. With that game being so physical, how will that affect the Cardinal against the Trojans? Stanford lost their QB and his status is unknown at this time. Can Stanford win their second consecutive win over a tough squad? USC is facing a dilemma at the QB position also because J.T. Daniels injured his knee and he’s out for the year. Will the Trojans offense muster up enough offense against the tough Cardinal defense? With this being played at USC, I’m picking the Trojans to upset the Cardinal.
