Week 4 didn’t go as well as I hoped. My record was 3-4, which dropped my overall record to 18-14. My winning percentage dipped from 60 to 56.3%. My Eagles surprised everyone how they fought to pull off the upset over Green Bay last Thursday. In another surprise, the Cleveland Browns went to Baltimore and dominated the Ravens. The Chicago Bears lost Mitchell Trubisky to an injured shoulder, but the defense dominated Minnesota in the 16-6 win. If you’re a fan of playoff football, Sunday night’s game was for you. In a defensive battle, the Saints edged the Cowboys 12-10. In a battle between two winless teams, Pittsburgh beat down Cincinnati to finish the week out. Hopefully, I’ll get back to winning and get closer to my 70% winning percentage this week. For Week 5, we’ll be checking out a total of nine games. Let’s get started!
For this Thursday night game, we have two of the best teams in the NFC. These squads represent the NFC West in an early season key matchup. The Los Angeles Rams travel to the Pacific Northwest to battle the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams are coming off a heartbreaking blowout loss at home. They fell to Tampa Bay 55-40 and the Rams are facing a lot of questions about their team. Jared Goff threw the ball entirely too much and tossed three picks in the process. The defense was exposed and facing Seattle won’t help things. Can the Rams fix their issues and beat their division rival?
Seattle is coming off a great defensive performance in Arizona a week ago. Russell Wilson will take this team as far as they’ll go, but the running game is coming along. Chris Carson is helping take pressure off Wilson and could be in line for another big game. Will the Rams drop two in a row? My record for Thursday night games is awful, but I’m picking the Rams.
Los Angeles Win 27-24
We head to the AFC in a battle of two playoff hopefuls. The Buffalo Bills will travel to Tennessee to battle the Titans. The Bills are coming off their first loss last week against the Patriots. Buffalo proved that their defense is one of the best in the league. Unfortunately, the Bills lost Josh Allen and his status is unknown at the time. Some are wondering, is the Bills defense that good or did they play inspired because it was New England? As far as Tennessee is concerned, I’ve said many times that this team is tricky. One week, they look like they could beat anyone.
The following week, it looks like they forgot how to play football. Last week, they played a complete game in Atlanta as they beat the Falcons. Which Tennessee team will show up this week? I’m going with the good Titans team and have them winning a close one.
Tennessee Win 20-17
We have a battle between two of the historic franchises in the NFL. The Chicago Bears will travel to Oakland to face the Raiders. Chicago is coming off that dominating defensive performance against Minnesota. We will also witness Khalil Mack return to Oakland for the first time since he was traded to Chicago. Will the Bears defense play a little more inspired? Oakland is coming off a huge win last week in Indianapolis. Derek Carr is looking more like the QB they invested in years ago. The running game lead by rookie Josh Jacobs is coming along well also. Can the Raiders defense match the Bears intensity? I’m rolling with the Bears to win this one.
Chicago Win 24-14
We have a battle between two NFC South teams, and this could be for first place. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to New Orleans to battle the Saints. The Bucs should be 3-1 heading into this matchup. Last week, they put up 55 points on the road against the Rams. Jameis Winston has looked like the quarterback everyone thought he would be. The defense has had issues stopping opposing offenses and that could continue in New Orleans. Can the Bucs head to New Orleans and upset the Saints? New Orleans is coming off a tough win last Sunday night. The Saints edged the Cowboys in a defensive game. Will the Saints defense slow down the high powered offense of Tampa Bay? Can the Saints score with the Buccaneers? This is actually a tough one, but I’m going with Tampa Bay with the upset.
Tampa Bay Win 31-30
We stay in the NFC as the Minnesota Vikings will travel to New York to battle the Giants. Minnesota is coming off a game where they were embarrassed by the Bears. The Vikings will be looking to rebound after a terrible performance. The Vikings defense have looked great and they will have their hands full with rookie Daniel Jones. Can the Vikings pick up the road win in New York? New York have been the y’all of the league after switching to Daniel Jones at quarterback. The defense looked phenomenal and motivated in their blowout over Washington. Can the Giants have that same success against Kirk Cousins and the Vikings? I’m rolling with Minnesota to rebound and beat the Giants.
Minnesota Win 27-17
This game features two teams that’s been rejuvenated after quarterback changes. The Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to Carolina to battle the Panthers. Gardner Minshew replaced an injured Nick Foles and now the Jaguars look like a different team. They still have the Jalen Ramsey cloud over them as he’s still seeking a trade. Minshew lead the Jaguars to a come from behind win in Denver last week. Can he continue his magic? On the other hand, Carolina started the season 0-2 and replaced an injured Cam Newton with Kyle Allen. Carolina have won their last two games and hoping to make it three in a row. The Panthers defense have been dominating also, but they lost defensive tackle Kawaan Short for the season. Which team can extend their winning streak to three? I’m going with the Panthers to edge out the Jaguars.
Carolina Win 20-17
We have another battle between two historic franchises. The Green Bay Packers will travel to Dallas to battle the Cowboys. Green Bay comes into this game with a few extra days of rest because of their Thursday night game. The Packers lost to the Eagles and they’re hoping to rebound on the road against Dallas. Can Aaron Rodgers put up more big numbers? Will Devante Adams be healthy for this one? Dallas is coming off their first loss of the season. The defense is one of the faster ones in the league. With the Packers giving up a lot of yards on the ground to the Eagles, this could be Elliott’s breakout game. I’m thinking the Cowboys will beat the Packers to increase Green Bay’s losing streak to 2.
Dallas Win 31-21
We have the Sunday night game between two AFC squads. The Indianapolis Colts travel to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Kansas City Chiefs. The Colts are coming off a heartbreaking loss at home to Oakland. Indianapolis will be hoping to get back some key players from injury like T.Y. Hilton. The defensive have had their share of injuries also. The Colts are currently tied with the other three teams in the AFC South with a 2-2 record. Can the Colts upset the Chiefs on the road? Kansas City is one of three teams in the NFL that’s still undefeated. They are coming off a tough win on the road in Detroit last week. Patrick Mahomes is looking like he’s trying to become a 2-time MVP. The defense still needs work and they’re one of the teams that could land Jalen Ramsey. Can the Chiefs continue their undefeated season for another week? I’m rolling with the Chiefs to beat the Colts.
Kansas City Win 34-21
We have the Monday night game. The Cleveland Browns will travel cross country to face the unbeaten San Francisco 49ers. The Browns looked like the team people had them being last week. Cleveland went to Baltimore and handed the Ravens an ass whooping. Baker Mayfield silenced the critics for one week with his performance. The defense looked great for the most part and Nick Chubb had a career game. Can the Browns continue that momentum in San Francisco? The 49ers are coming off a bye week and they’re one of three undefeated teams. San Francisco is still trying to stay ahead of the Rams and Seahawks. Jimmy Garropolo is trying to prove that he’s one of the better QBs in the league. The 49ers defense will have their hands full with the Browns arsenal. In the end, I’m picking the Niners to lose in a close one.
Cleveland Win 27-24
