Daddy’s Hangout 2019 Week 7 NFL Predictions

Welcome to Week 7 of the NFL season. For the second consecutive week, I’m leaving with a losing record. My Week 5 record was 4-5, which dipped my overall mark to 25-25. My winning percentage went from 51.2 down to 50%. Maybe it’s time to get off the Buccaneers bandwagon as they fell to the Carolina Panthers. Jameis Winston tossed 5 INTs and he also lost one fumble. Speaking of bandwagons, the Cleveland Browns failed me again as they lost to the Seahawks at home. Baker Mayfield tossed three more interceptions and the Browns have a 2-4 mark now. Deshaun Watson put himself in the NFL MVP conversation as he led the Texans to the win in Kansas City. In another team that’s experiencing a free fall, the Los Angeles Rams lost to the San Francisco 49ers at home.

Jared Goff looked awful as the Rams offense only putting up 7 points against their division rival. On Sunday night, the Steelers defeated the Chargers in an impressive defensive performance. The Monday night game saw the Green Bay Packers edge the Detroit Lions on a field goal as time expired. Overall a very entertaining Week 6 and we still have a lot of football to play. This week, there will be a total of 9 games being picked with the hopes of finishing over .500.

As always, we start with the Sunday Night Game between AFC West rivals. The Kansas City Chiefs will travel to Mile High Stadium to battle the Denver Broncos. The two teams come into this game heading in opposite directions. The Chiefs have dropped two in a row and those games were at home. Patrick Mahomes is still nursing a bad ankle and the Chiefs defense is horrible. Can they end their 2-game losing streak? Denver has won their last two games after dropping the first four games. The offense is struggling and will continue without Emmanuel Sanders. On the other hand, the defense has looked great in those games. How will this Broncos defense fare against the explosive Chiefs offense? This should be a game that Mahomes expose the defense and help end their losing streak. I’m riding with the Kansas City Chiefs in this one.

Kansas City Win 31-21

We head to the NFC to check out another matchup between division rivals. The Minnesota Vikings will travel to Detroit to face the Lions. Minnesota is coming off an impressive win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Kirk Cousins and Stephan Diggs were the highlights of the game. Diggs caught three of Cousins four touchdown passes on their way to the route of the Eagles. Can Cousins make it three consecutive games with amazing performances? Detroit has dropped two consecutive games by a total of five points to good teams. On Monday night, we all can agree that the officials cost them that game against Green Bay. If the Lions are going to beat the Vikings, the defensive line must pressure Cousins. Matthew Stafford has been playing good and the defense is much improved. In the end, I’m going with the Vikings to pull this one out.

Minnesota Win 27-24

This is a matchup between two of the more historic franchises in the NFL. The Oakland Raiders will travel to Lambeau Field to battle the Green Bay Packers. The Raiders have surprised everyone as they’re currently on a 2-game winning streak. Derek Carr is looking like the quarter back that they invested in a few seasons ago. Josh Jacobs have really stepped in and became the running back they’ve needed for years. Can the Raiders upset the Packers? Green Bay is flying high as they’ve gotten off to a 5-1 start. They have won the last two games without their leader receiver, Davante Adams who’s nursing a toe injury. With or without Adams, Green Bay have been finding ways to get it done. I’m going with the Packers to continue their winning ways by defeating Oakland.

Green Bay Win 30-20

We have a battle for first place in the AFC South as the Colts host the Houston Texans. Indianapolis is coming off their bye week after an impressive win in Kansas City. The Colts are hoping to get healthier on the defensive side of the ball. They were without key guys on the defense and if they can return, this team could scare some people. How will this Colts team fare against Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans? Houston is looking like they’re ready jump into the forefront of contenders. Deshaun Watson has emerged as an MVP candidate as the offense is clicking on all cylinders. The defense will need to pressure Jacoby Brissett and stop Marlon Mack on the ground. This game is for first-place in the AFC South and I’m still riding the Texans bandwagon.

Houston Win 24-21

We have a battle between two of the better defenses in the league. The New Orleans Saints travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears. When Drew Brees went down with the thumb injury, many people thought New Orleans would fall off. With Teddy Bridgewater at the helm, the Saints have gone 4-0 and remain on top of the NFC South. The story with the Saints has been their stingy defense. The defense held the Jaguars to six points on the road last week. Chicago is coming off their bye week in which they need to figure some things out. Chicago looked horrible in their loss to the Oakland Raiders. Can the Bears rebound and beat arguably the best team in the NFC? This could turn into a defensive battle and I’m picking the Bears to win.

Chicago Win 16-13

We have a battle between two of the more elusive quarterbacks in the league. Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens travel to Seattle to face Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. Baltimore is currently leading the NFC North after their two game winning streak. Both of their wins have come against division rivals. The Ravens face a tough test in Seattle as their defense is struggling. Baltimore just made a trade with the Rams to bolster their secondary for Marcus Peters. Seattle is looking like they’re gearing up for a Super Bowl run. Russell Wilson is probably the leading MVP candidate after his come from behind win in Cleveland. Can Wilson repeat that same success against the pesky Ravens? I’m seeing the Seahawks causing fits for Lamar Jackson on their way to the win.

Seattle Win 27-17

We have a battle between hated rivals for the lead in the NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles will travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys during the Sunday night game. The Eagles are coming off an embarrassing loss on the road to Minnesota. The secondary is one of the worse in the league and could continue to get exposed. Over the years, Philadelphia has played their best when their backs are against the wall. Can they go to Dallas and beat the Cowboys? Dallas is facing their own dilemma as they have dropped three consecutive games. The health of Amari Cooper will be a factor as he left the Jets game with a quad injury. Can the Cowboys defense contain the Eagles offense? Will Desean Jackson return to help the Eagles offense? I’m picking the Eagles to play a flawless game and beat Dallas.

Philadelphia Win 34-24

We have finally arrived at the Monday Night Game. The New England Patriots will travel to the Meadowlands in New York to battle the Jets. New England is one of two teams that’s still undefeated in the NFL. The Patriots dominated the Redskins and Giants the last two games. The defense has looked great and the offense is just going through the motions. With the tough Jets defense, this could be a challenge for the Patriots. With the return of Sam Darnold last week, the Jets were able to get their first win of the season. With several players on the trading block, will the Jets defense be at full strength? Can Darnold lead the Jets to another upset? This should be a game closer than expected, but I’m going with New England.
