Daddy’s Hangout 2019 NFL Week 9 Predictions

Welcome to Week 9 of the NFL season, which means we’ve hit the halfway mark. For the first time, all my picks were correct and my record was 7-0. My overall mark leaped to 36-29, which boosted my winning percentage from 50 to 55.4%. I’m heading into this weekend with an 8-game winning streak and it started when the Vikings beat the Redskins. The New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers remain undefeated after impressive performances. Drew Brees returned where he left off as the Saints lay claim as the best team in the league. The Eagles rebounded after a horrible two-game skid to trounce the Bills. In a great game, the Packers edged the Chiefs in a competitive Sunday night game. The Pittsburgh Steelers took care of the Dolphins on Monday night to keep Miami winless. With the hopes of continuing the win streak, we’re predicting nine games.

This weeks’ Thursday night game features a pair of NFC West rivals. The San Francisco 49ers travels to Arizona to battle the Cardinals. The 49ers are coming off an impressive win against the Carolina Panthers. Nick Bosa has been talked about as a potential defensive player of the year. The run game for the 49ers has been awesome. The 49ers are trying to remain undefeated and now they’ll have a national stage. Can they continue their winning ways? Arizona is coming off being defeated by the New Orleans Saints. Before that, the Cardinals had won three consecutive games. With their running back situation up in the air, Arizona traded for Kenyan Drake. Can the Kyler Murray do enough to frustrate the 49ers defense? This should be a good game, but I’m picking the Niners to win this one.

San Francisco Win 31-20

We head to the AFC South for this key matchup. The Houston Texans will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars and the game takes place in London. The AFC South is the only division where all the teams don’t have a losing record. The Texans are a half game behind the Colts. The Jaguars are tied with the Titans for last with a 4-4 record and a game behind Houston. Deshaun Watson is playing amazing as he’s carrying this Texans team. Houston lost their leader on defense when J.J. Watt tore his pectoral muscle. Watt will go on injured reserve for the third time in four years. Jacksonville have won two games in a row coming into this game. Have the Jaguars turned things around or was it the opponents? Jacksonville’s wins during the streak came against the Jets and Bengals who’ve combined for one win. I’m going with Deshaun Watson and Houston to edge the Jaguars.

Houston Win 31-24

We have an exciting matchup between two playoff contenders. The Minnesota Vikings hit the road to Kansas City to battle the Chiefs. The Vikings have won four games in a row and Kirk Cousins have looked like an MVP candidate. Dalvin Cook is looking like a top-5 running back in the league. The Minnesota defense have always been strong, but they face a tough task with Kansas City. The big question for the Chiefs is the health of Patrick Mahomes. We do not know the status of Mahomes as it’s been reported he could’ve play last week. The Chiefs defense have improved, but how will they fare against Minnesota? This is a tough one to pick but I can’t envision Kansas City losing again at home. In a close one, I’m going with the Chiefs to prevail.

Kansas City Win 27-26

We have a rematch from last year’s Wild Card of the playoffs. The Chicago Bears will travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles. They met in Chicago last year in the playoffs with the Eagles prevailing do to a blocked field goal. The Bears had that same fate last week as they fell to the Chargers at home. With the horrible secondary of the Eagles, can Mitchell Trubisky rebound from his bad play? Can the Bears contain that Eagles running game? The Eagles were dealing with all sorts of issues, but went to Buffalo to dominate the Bills. After a long and treacherous road trip, Philadelphia returns home. Can the Eagles defense pressure Trubisky into making mistakes? Can the offense continue rolling against a tough Bears defense? This is another hard one, but I’m picking the Eagles ahead of their bye week.

Philadelphia Win 27-17

We head to the AFC for this key matchup. The Indianapolis Colts travel to Pittsburgh to battle the Steelers. The Colts remain atop of the AFC South. They barely escaped with a win at home against the Broncos. This Colts team is up and down from week-to-week. Two weeks ago, they were able to play great on both sides of the ball as they beat Houston. Last week, they looked flat at home and barely escaped with a win over Denver. The Steelers are coming off a Monday night win over the winless Dolphins. They paid a steep price as they lost James Connor to a shoulder injury. Connor had his best game of the season Monday, but injured his shoulder late in the 4th quarter. The Colts are probably going to put the game in Mason Rudolph’s arm. With that being said, I’m picking the Colts to win in Pittsburgh.

Indianapolis Win 28-20

We have a battle between two playoff hopefuls. The Tennessee Titans will travel to Carolina to meet the Panthers. With Ryan Tannehill behind center, the Titans have won two games in a row. Tennessee have had a lot of issues, but they’re still in contention for the division crown. Can they make it three in a row with a win over Carolina? Carolina have been riding a high l, but last week that all came to an end. The Panthers were blown out of San Francisco as they fell 51-13 to the 49ers. With Cam Newton still getting rehab, Kyle Allen will get the start again. The Panthers is part of the tough NFC so they need to get back on the winning track. Will the Panthers get Christian McCaffrey involved early? If they’re smart, they’ll do just that and if so, they’ll beat the Titans.

Carolina Win 24-17

This is the Sunday night game and this game should be as good as any this weekend. The undefeated New England Patriots will travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens. The Patriots defense have been the talk of the league. There have been comparisons to the ‘85 Bears squad. Bill Belicheck comes into this game never losing to a first or second year quarterback. How will the Patriots defense fare against Lamar Jackson? Baltimore is one of those tricky teams. One week, they look like garbage and the following one they look like Super Bowl contenders. Can they hand the Patriots their first loss of the season? How will the defense fare against Tom Brady? This is another tough one, but I can’t bet against New England.

New England Win 31-21

We have the Monday Night game between two NFC East rivals. The Dallas Cowboys will travel to New York to face the Giants. These two teams faced each other during the opening weekend of the season. Dallas prevailed over New York 35-17. The Cowboys are coming off their bye week and two weeks after dominating the Eagles. Can the Cowboys keep up the momentum against New York? The Giants will have Daniel Jones at quarterback this time as they face Dallas. The Cowboys improved their defense by picking up Michael Bennett from the Patriots. How will the Giants manage the tough and physical Dallas defensive front? Can the Giants defense do anything this time to stop Dallas? I’m picking the Cowboys to beat New York again.
