Welcome to Week 10 of the NFL season and it’s officially the 2nd half of the season. Last week my record was 6-2, which raised my overall mark to 42-31. My winning percentage went from 55.4 to 57.5%. The big news from last week was the Ravens handing New England their first defeat. This week, we saw two big names go on IR in Cam Newton and Desean Jackson. How will that affect the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles playoff chances moving forward? Russell Wilson continued his MVP-like season with a great game in defeating Tampa Bay. Speaking of MVP performances, Christian McCaffrey scored another 3 TDs in their win over Tennessee. Deshaun Watson led the Texans to a blowout win over the Jaguars in London.
With the Texans winning, they took a half game lead over the Colts as they fell to the Steelers. In a great battle, the Chiefs beat the Vikings with a game-winning field goal. The Eagles defense came up big as they smothered Mitchell Trubisky and the Bears at home. The Cincinnati Bengals remain the only team without a win as the Dolphins beat the Jets. In the Monday Night Game, the Dallas Cowboys manhandled the Giants 37-18. This week, there will only be a total of five games being predicted. Let’s hope we continue this upward trend.
The Thursday night game features a couple of AFC West rivals. The Los Angeles Chargers travel to the Bay Area to battle the Oakland Raiders. With both teams in contention for the division title and playoffs, this is a critical game. The Raiders are one game behind the Chiefs in the loss column and the Chargers are two. The Chargers come into this game winning their last two games. It seems like Melvin Gordon has found his swagger and the defense is getting healthier. On the other hand, Derek Carr is looking like one of the best QBs in the league. Josh Jacobs has proven that he was a great pickup in the 2019 Draft. The Raiders defense has been a surprise also, but they’re still giving up too many points. This should be a great one, but I’m going with the home team here.
Oakland Win 24-23
We have a battle between two NFC playoff hopefuls. The Carolina Panthers travel to Lambeau Field to battle the Green Bay Packers. Carolina learned that Kyle Allen will remain their starting quarterback because Cam Newton went on IR. Christian McCaffrey continues his MVP-like campaign for the Panthers. The Panthers defense will be in for some trouble seeing that the Packers are coming off an embarrassing loss. Can the Panthers upset the Packers on the road? Green Bay is coming off a wakeup call in Los Angeles against the Chargers. The offensive line was dominated as they allowed 9 sacks. Aaron Rodgers will look to rebound before their bye week. McCaffrey will give this defense fits, but Jones could be huge against Carolina. In the end, I’m going with the Packers to beat Carolina.
Green Bay Win 34-21
This is a battle between two teams that’s seemed to have found their mojo. The Los Angeles Rams will travel to Pittsburgh and Heinz Field to battle the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Rams are coming off their bye week after winning two games in a row. Despite all of their issues, they’re one of the better teams in the NFC when things are clicking. The Rams defense should put a lot of pressure on Mason Rudolph to force mistakes. Pittsburgh started the season 1-4, but they have won three games in a row. The defense continues to impress after they added Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Steelers defense should pressure Jared Goff into mistakes. The Rams have a lot of weapons on both sides of the ball. In the end, I’m picking the Rams to pick up the huge road win.
Los Angeles Win 30-24
We have arguably the best matchup of the weekend and it’s the Sunday night game. The Minnesota Vikings travel to Jerry’s World to battle the Dallas Cowboys. Minnesota just had their four game winning streak snapped at the hand of Kansas City. This will feature two of the best running back in Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliott. Kirk Cousins will be without one of his main targets in Adam Thielen. Wil the Vikings drop two in a row? Dallas is riding high with their two game winning streak. The Cowboys beat down the Giants on Monday night on their way to a 37-18 win. How will Dak Prescott handle the tough Vikings front four? Will Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper have big days against the Vikings defense? This is a tough one, but I’m picking the Cowboys to beat Minnesota.
Dallas Win 27-24
We have the other game that you could argue with it being the best of the week. The Seattle Seahawks travel to San Francisco to face their division rival 49ers. The Seahawks come into this one two games behind the 49ers. Russell Wilson is looking like the league MVP and he just picked up Josh Gordon. If Gordon can come in and make some plays for Seattle, this team is really dangerous. San Francisco is the last team in the league without a defeat on their record. Nick Bosa will be the defensive rookie of the year, but he’s getting considered for defensive MVP also. How will the 49ers defensive line affect Russell Wilson? Can the 49ers offense continue their domination? Will Jimmy Garoppolo continue improving? I’m going with the 49ers to stay undefeated and beat Seattle.
San Francisco Win 27-17
