Welcome to Week 12 of the NFL season. We can all agree that Week 11 has its share of events. Everything started out with the Thursday night game when the Cleveland Browns took down the Pittsburgh Steelers. No one is talking about the game, but the skirmish at the end of the game that saw Myles Garrett hit Mason Rudolph with a helmet. We saw the Minnesota Vikings rebound from a 20-0 halftime deficit to beat Denver 27-23. In one of the most anticipated games, the Baltimore Ravens blew out Houston 41-7. San Francisco rebounded from their only loss by defeating the Arizona Cardinals. The NFC continues to be a dog fight with all the teams atop the conference. In a defensive battle, the Rams defeated the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. Kansas City edged the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night in Mexico as Philip Rivers tossed 4 picks.
My overall record was 5-0, which raised my mark to 49-34. My winning percentage jumps from 56.4 to 59%. I’ll be predicting a total of six games this week with the hopes of continuing my winning trend.
We start the week off with an AFC South battle on Thursday night. The Indianapolis Colts travel to Houston to battle the Texans for sole possession of first place. Indianapolis is coming off an impressive win over division rival, Jacksonville. Marlon Mack was the star of the offense, but he’ll miss the game due to surgery on his hand. The Colts defense have looked great as they continue to get healthier. Can the Colts go to Houston and leave with a one game lead in the division? As far as Houston is concerned, they’re hoping to put their last game behind them. The Ravens tore apart the Texans by blowing them out by 34 points. With the Texans having Deshaun Watson, they always have a shot. With the division lead up for grabs, I’m thinking the Texans will rebound and prevail.
Houston Win 31-21
We stay in the south, but this time we’re headed to the NFC. The Carolina Panthers will travel to New Orleans to battle the division leading Saints. Carolina is currently on a 2-game losing streak as they’re playoff hopes are dwindling. If the Panthers are going to upset New Orleans, Christian McCaffrey will need to go off. McCaffrey is having one of the most talked about seasons and he’s an MVP candidate. New Orleans can get one step closer to clinching the division with a win. The Saints are still eyeing home field advantage in the playoffs. They’re currently a game behind the 49ers, whom they’ll play later and tied with Green Bay and Seattle. If the Saints win their game and the Packers beat San Francisco, we’d have a 4-way tie on top of the NFC. New Orleans has too much fire power and they’ll beat Carolina.
New Orleans Win 38-24
We stay in the NFC for this huge matchup. The Seattle Seahawks travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles. Seattle is one of the teams that’s thinking about home field advantage in the NFC. The Seahawks should come into this game fresh seeing they’re coming off their bye week. Seattle is trying to keep up with the 49ers, whom they beat for the NFC West crown. If Seattle can win their division as opposed to just making the playoffs that would be an enormous difference. Can the Seahawks beat the injured Eagles? Philadelphia is coming off a heartbreaking loss to New England. The defense looked like the one from their Super Bowl season. Unfortunately, the offense can’t seem to stay healthy.
They’re already missing Desean Jackson, but Alshon Jeffrey and Jordan Howard missed last week also. I’m thinking Seattle will continue their winning ways and keep up with the rest of the best teams in the NFC.
Seattle Win 27-24
We have a huge matchup between two teams with Super Bowl admirations. The Dallas Cowboys travel to Foxboro to face the New England Patriots. The Cowboys are hoping to create distance between them and the Eagles. Dak Prescott put himself in the talk for the 2019 NFL MVP with his performance last weekend. The Cowboys offense will have their hands full with one of the best defenses in the league. The Cowboys defense has been struggling lately and now they face New England. The Patriots are still the top team in the AFC. With Baltimore holding the tiebreaker, they’re hoping to continue to win and stay a game ahead. The Patriots secondary will be challenged by Dak and the Cowboys. In the end, I’m picking the Patriots to edge the Cowboys.
New England Win 24-23
We have a blockbuster for our Sunday night game. The Green Bay Packers travel to the Bay to battle the San Francisco 49ers. Green Bay is atop of the NFC North by a game over Minnesota. San Francisco is facing the same dilemma with the Seahawks being a game behind them. Green Bay hold a victory over Minnesota but have to face them against a couple days before Christmas. This game got potential playoff seeding riding on it. Can the running game of the Packers be effective against the Niners defense? Can Aaron Rodgers lead the Packers to the big road win? San Francisco’s defense didn’t look particularly great last week against Arizona. The key for the 49ers could be the running game. This is a tough one, but I’m going with the home team to win this one.
San Francisco Win 26-21
We have the Monday Night game between two really good defenses. The Baltimore Ravens travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams. Baltimore is looking like the most complete team in the league. When they blew out Houston, that pretty much solidified that sentiment. Lamar Jackson has catapulted himself as one of the leaders in the MVP race. Ever since the Ravens traded for Marcus Peters, he’s looked like a new CB. Can they beat the Rams on their home turf on Monday night? Los Angeles need to start winning games immediately. Last week’s win over Chicago was a nice step in the right direction. With the Rams, they’re trying to catch San Francisco and Seattle in the division. Los Angeles is one game behind Minnesota in the loss column for the last spot of the playoffs.
Can the Rams defense repeat their performance against Chicago? I’m going with the Ravens to beat the Rams on the road.
Baltimore Win 27-20
