Welcome to Week 15 of the NFL season. As the season gets closer to the end, things continue to heat up. In the AFC, Baltimore is getting more cushion on their lead. The Ravens went to Buffalo and came away with an impressive win over the Bills. The Patriots are now a full game behind Baltimore after they lost at home to Kansas City. The Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans face each other for first place as they’re tied atop of the AFC South. The Texans were upset at home by Drew Lock and the Denver Broncos. The Titans have become one of the hottest teams in the AFC after beating Oakland for the fourth consecutive victory.
When it comes to the NFC, San Francisco climbs back on top with their impressive win over New Orleans on the road. Green Bay edged the Redskins to grab the second spot in the NFC. The Rams beat Seattle decisively Sunday night to knock them down to Wild Card status. Minnesota is clinging to the final Wild Card spot with their win over Detroit. The Rams and Bears are playing great football as they’re on the outside looking in for the playoffs. This weekend I’ll be predicting a total of six games. Last week my record was 5-2, which boosts my overall mark to 66-38. The winning percentage jumps from 62.9 to 63.5%.
We start the week off with the Thursday night game as usual. The New York Jets head to Baltimore to face arguably the best team in the league. The Jets are in the midst of another disappointing season. In the last month they have won three of their last four games. Can the Jets continue their magical second half with their biggest upset? Baltimore has won nine consecutive games and it look like Lamar Jackson has a strangle hold on the MVP. While Jackson and the offense gets a lot of attention, the Ravens defense are no joke. The Ravens will be too much for the Jets and they should notch their 10th consecutive victory.
Baltimore Win 34-17
This is a NFC North battle between two of the biggest rivals in sports. The Chicago Bears travel to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. Chicago is making a late season surge with hopes of getting that last playoff spot. They have won three in a row and Mitchell Trubisky is looking like the Pro Bowl caliber QB from two years ago. The defense is as good as it gets in the NFL and they’ll need to come up big in this one. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have found themselves at the #2 spot. Green Bay is still trying to hold off Minnesota also. With the Packers barely edging Washington, how will they respond against Chicago? The injury to Roquan Smith will be huge for the Bears and will allow the Packers to win.
Green Bay Win 27-17
We have a battle for the top spot in the AFC South. The Houston Texans travel to Nashville to face the Tennessee Titans. The Texans were expected to come into this game with a one game lead. Two weeks ago, Houston took a part the Patriots in impressive fashion. On Sunday, they allowed Denver to come to town and beat them down 38-24. Can they rebound from that loss and beat the Titans? On the other hand, Tennessee has quietly become one of the hottest teams in the league. Ryan Tannehill is 6-1 ever since taking over the starting position. Derrick Henry is looking like the running back that won the Heisman Trophy at Alabama. Tannehill is connecting with his receivers and that’ll be the reason the Titans leave with the win.
Tennessee Win 30-20
We have a game that features two teams that’s fighting for a playoff spot. The Los Angeles Rams travel to Dallas to battle the Cowboys. These teams have been going in opposite directions. The Rams have won their last two games in convincing fashion with a dominant defense. If Los Angeles is going to win this road game, Jared Goff will need to cut out the mistakes. Can the Rams continue their late season playoff push with another win? Dallas comes into this game on a 3-game losing streak. Despite their shortcomings, Dallas control their own destiny to reach the postseason. The Cowboys are tied with the Eagles atop of the NFC East and they each other next week in Philadelphia. Can the Cowboys end their losing streak in the midst of Jason Garrett being fired rumors? I’m thinking the Rams are playing great ball and will win this one.
Los Angeles Win 31-24
We go to the Sunday night game with major playoff implications. The Buffalo Bills travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers. For the Bills, it’s simple win one of the final three games and you’re in. Buffalo is also looking for their first 10-win season since the 90s. They’re currently the leaders of the Wild Card and also a game behind New England in the AFC East. After playing Baltimore tough last week, can the Bills go to Heinz Field and win to clinch a playoff berth? Pittsburgh started the season 1-4, Big Ben went out for the season and their season looked bleak. The Steelers now have won three in a row and seven out of their last eight.
They hold on to the final Wild Card spot as they face the leaders. Since the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade, Pittsburgh’s defense has looked great. With these two great defenses, we could see a very low scoring game. In the end, I’m banking more on the Steelers secondary to come up huge and lead them to the win.
Pittsburgh Win 19-17
The final game as always will be the Monday Night game. The Indianapolis Colts will head to the Bayou to face the New Orleans Saints. The Colts have taken themselves out of the playoff hunt with their loss to Tampa Bay last week. The Colts have dropped three in a row and five of their last six. Technically, the Colts still have a shot at the playoffs, but they need to win out and get help. Do the Colts have it in them to go to New Orleans and upset the Saints? Speaking of upset, New Orleans has to be frustrated with their loss at home to the 49ers last week.
The loss knocked them down from the top to third spot in the NFC. Can the defense rebound from giving up 48 points a week ago? I’m thinking the Saints will make a statement against the Colts. New Orleans will win, but the game will be more competitive than you think.
New Orleans Win 38-28
