Help Mellow Mushroom give Back to the Community June 25th

Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, with more than 180 restaurants in 21 states, launched A Pie for A Pie community giving program in April 2020 to recognize organizations and essential workers in local communities. Each week since the giving program began, specific Mellow Mushroom owners host a pie sale where for every stone-baked pie sold, the owner donates a small pizza pie to a community organization or frontline worker.  This Thursday, June 25, 2020, the Mellow Mushroom store owners in Georgia are baking and selling pizza pies to benefit over 21 organizations throughout the state of Georgia.  See chart below.  Since the beginning of the program, Mellow Mushroom has donated more than 10,000 pies to local charities in 12 states where Mellow Mushroom operates.  Mellow Mushroom store owners have recognized frontline workers, charity workers, high school graduating seniors and others who have been impacted by COVID-19.

“At Mellow Mushroom, our local owner operators have built strong community connections, which has played a big role in the success of Mellow Mushroom over the last 40 + years,” said Anne Mejia, Vice President of Brand Development.  “Our five store owners in Georgia have depended on the local community to get them through this challenging time and we wanted to get together to give back to the community.” Partnering with Mellow Mushroom to make the program possible is the National Mushroom Council which represents fresh mushroom producers and distributors nationwide.

At Mellow Mushroom, mushrooms are a favorite ingredient of guests. Guests can start their meal with Magic Mushroom soup filled with roasted shitake, button and Portobello mushrooms and topped with MontAmoreg® cheese and fresh chives, and then order one of the most famous pies on the menu, the Holy Shiitake.  The Holy Shiitake starts with an olive oil and garlic base, topped with shiitake, button and portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella and MontAmoreg®.  It’s finished with a garlic aioli swirl and a spritz of black truffle oil and garnished with fresh chives and shaved parmesan. “We’re obviously true believers in the healthy, tasty benefits of fresh mushrooms and we’re delighted to collaborate with the Mushroom Council to support our communities,”
