Bone Thugs N Harmony is one of the greatest hip hop great of all-time. Bone Thugs N Harmony released E. 1999 Eternal album 25 years ago today. E. 1999 Eternal was the follow-up to their major label debut EP, Creepin’ On Ah Come Up. Being a huge hip hop heads, this is one album I remember purchasing when it was released. The first single, 1st of Da Month was released a little over a month before the album dropped. 1st of Da Month went on to go gold and nominated for a Grammy. The single became one of the greatest hits from Bone Thugs N Harmony. The second single from E. 1999 Eternal was a track called East 1999. The single included verses from all members including Flesh-N-Bone. East 1999 dropped late in the fall but didn’t have the success as 1st of Da Month.
E. 1999 Eternal went on to sell over 4 million copies making it their highest selling album. In the spring of 1996, Bone Thugs N Harmony released their final single of the album. The single was the remix to Tha Crossroads, and it was an instant classic. The album version was dedicated to their friend and the remix was in memory of the late, great Eazy-E. Eazy-E signed Bone Thugs N Harmony with Ruthless Records and basically saved their life. As we all know, Eazy-E eventually succumbed to the AIDS virus in March of 1995. Tha Crossroads is considered one of the classic hip hop records and it broke records. The record won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance by group or duo.
