Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week Predictions

It has finally arrived and that’s the 2020 NFL season. With all that’s going on in the world with the pandemic, we didn’t know we’d actually get here. The NBA, NHL and WNBA are playing in a bubble, while the MLB is toughing it out without fans. The NFL hasn’t reported any major issues and the season is going on with no fans to begin with. We kick things off this season on a Thursday night as always. The Houston Texans travel to Kansas City to face the Super Bowl champion Chiefs. We finish the weekend with two Monday night games. The Pittsburgh Steelers travel to New York to battle the Giants. In the second game, Tennessee travel to the Mile High City to face the Denver Broncos. Last season, my winning percentage was a little over 65% and hopefully that’ll improve this year. Let’s get started!

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe kick things off with two of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. We have Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes facing off in the opener. As we all know, Patrick Mahomes signed that monster deal earlier in the summer for around $400+ million. The total is 12 years for around $500 million. Deshaun signed his deal last week for 4 years and almost $160 million. Kansas City is the favorite to repeat and win another Super Bowl this year. They have added in much needed places and the defense has done nothing, but improves. On the other hand, the Texans traded away Watson’s top weapon in DeAndre Hopkins. While Houston added more pieces around him, this is a tough to digest. It will take Deshaun a few games to get over the departure of Hopkins. With that said, I’m picking Kansas City to have a nice showing and win the opening game at home. Kansas City Win 34-20

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe have the Seattle Seahawks traveling to Atlanta to face the Falcons. Seattle is coming off another season where they made the playoffs. They are in a tough division with the 49ers, Rams and a dangerous Arizona Cardinals team. The offense should be as good as ever with Russell Wilson still running the show. The defense is still a work in progress, but adding Jamal Adams will be helpful. The Falcons finished last season as one of the hottest teams in the league. They beat the Saints and 49ers in the second half of the season. With the addition of Todd Gurley, this offense should be one of the best in the league. Can they upset the Seahawks in the opener? This is a tough one, but I’m going with the Falcons to win in a close one. Atlanta Win 31-27

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe have a battle in the AFC East to begin the 2020 NFL season. The New York Jets travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. The Jets have been through a lot during the offseason. The loss of Jamal Adams will be felt on the defensive end. The offense will go as far as Sam Darnold will take them. In his third season, he must become more of a leader if the Jets are going to do anything. Buffalo is thinking of finally dethroning the Patriots for division supremacy. The Bills added Stephon Diggs to their offense, which should help the growth of Josh Allen. On defense, they rewarded Tre’Davious White a massive extension last week. Buffalo should be a playoff team again this year and I’m picking them to win this one. Buffalo Win 27-13

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe head to the NFC North for this opening weekend matchup. The Chicago Bears travel to Detroit to face the Lions. Chicago made headlines this week as Mitchell Trubisky beat out Nick Foles for the starting quarterback position. The Bears offense needs to look like the one from 2018 if they’re going to have any success. Chicago’s defense should be fine as long as Khalil Mack stays healthy. Detroit’s defense should be much improved this season. They lost Darius Slay, but added a lot of key pieces on defense including Reggie Radland and Jaime Collins. They have two great receivers for Matthew Stafford to throw to also. This may shock some, but I’m picking the Lions to beat the Bears. Detroit Win 30-24

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe stay in the AFC North for this matchup. The Green Bay Packers travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings. These two teams were the top squads in the division a year ago. They both made the playoffs with Minnesota pulling off the huge upset against the Saints in New Orleans. We don’t know about the Vikings this season as they traded away Stephon Diggs. Justin Jefferson, the rookie out of LSU is hoping to step in for Diggs. Green Bay is hoping to improve on what was a great season a year ago. They made it to the NFC title game, but fell to the 49ers. The Packers should be in the mix again for the division, but I’m going with Minnesota in this one. Minnesota Win 27-17

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe head to the AFC East for this opener. The Miami Dolphins will travel to Gillette Stadium to face the New England Patriots. For the first time in 20 years, Tom Brady won’t be the starting quarterback. Cam Newton is stepping in and hoping to resurrect his career in New England. The Patriots should still have one of the better defenses in the entire league. New England had a lot of guys to opt out, but they still have weapons. Miami made several key additions to their team this offseason. The Dolphins are hoping to surprise some people and contend for the division crown. Despite having a new quarterback in New England, they’ll have the same results against Miami. New England Win 31-21

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe travel to the NFC and to the East division for this game. The Philadelphia Eagles will travel to Washington to face their Football team. The Eagles are hoping to repeat as division champs this season. On offense, they added some weapons to help Carson Wentz at the receiver position. On defense, they traded for Darius Slay with the hopes of improving their secondary. Washington is looking to improve on both sides of the ball. They added Chase Young in the draft to what was already a great defensive line. Washington has some promising, young prospects on the offensive side. This will be a close one, but I’m going with the Eagles to win. Philadelphia Win 33-24

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe have the Las Vegas Raiders traveling east to face the Carolina Panthers. This is the first season the Raiders will be based out of Las Vegas. The Raiders added speed and depth on the offensive side and helped Derek Carr along the way. They’re hoping Nelson Agholor and Jason Witten add leadership to the team. On defense, Las Vegas is starting to put together some pieces. With Carolina, it feels like they’re somewhat rebuilding in a way. They signed Teddy Bridgewater to become the new franchise signal caller. They gave Christian McCaffrey a nice, new contract in the offseason. Carolina will struggle trying to stop people and that’s why they’ll lose to the Raiders. Las Vegas Win 31-20

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe head to the AFC South for this matchup. The Indianapolis Colts travel down to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. The Colts acquired Philip Rivers and gave him a nice contract in the process. They made Ryan Kelly the highest paid center in football, which is well-deserved. On defense, they brought in DeForest Bruckner and hoping Xavier Woods return to pro-bowl form. Jacksonville has damn near traded away all their stars. To be honest, they may be the worse team in the NFL. Many believe they’re tanking for Trevor Lawrence. If so, it begins here as the Colts will leave with the win. Indianapolis Win 34-17

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe head to the AFC North for this matchup that should be hard hitting. The Cleveland Browns will travel to Baltimore to face the defending division champs. Cleveland will once again come into another season with high expectations. Odell Beckham Jr. is said to be healthy and they added Austin Hooper at tight end. Cleveland also gave Kareem Hunt a 2-year extension as he share time with Nick Chubb. Baltimore is hoping to duplicate the season they had last year. The Ravens bulldozed through everyone in the regular season and Lamar Jackson took home the NFL MVP award. This could be a really good game, but I’m rolling with the Ravens. Baltimore Win 27-24

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe have a battle that could have been between two of the top QBs in last year’s draft. The Los Angeles Chargers travel east to face the Cincinnati Bengals. The Chargers will be led by Tyrod Taylor instead of Justin Herbert, who was the 6th pick. Joe Burrow will start the season as the signal caller for the Bengals. Cincinnati has surround Burrow with some weapons and they just extended Joe Mixon also. The defense has a lot of questions coming into this season. On the other side, the Chargers have a plethora of weapons on offense. On defense, Joey Bosa is a beast and the Chargers rewarded him with a nice contract extension. Once again, the backend will be hurting as they lost Derwin James again for the season. I’m going with the Bengals to pull off the upset in this one. Cincinnati Win 24-23

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe head down south for a battle between two Hall-of-Fame quarterbacks. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to New Orleans to face the Saints. You can’t get any better than an opening week battle between Tom Brady and Drew Brees. As we all know, the big signing of the offseason was Tom Brady to the Buccaneers. The Bucs could be without All-Pro wide receiver Mike Evans as he’s nursing a hamstring injury. How will this Bucs offense look with Tom Brady? New Orleans is hoping to finally make it back to the Super Bowl after coming up short. These two teams are figuring to be battling for the division and conference also. With the Saints being familiar with each other that should give them an advantage. I’m going with the Saints to win their home opener. New Orleans Win 31-24

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe head out west for this much anticipated matchup. The Arizona Cardinals travel to San Francisco to face the defending NFC champ 49ers. Arizona is looking to make some noise this year as they have vastly improved their team. As we all know, the Cardinals invested in more weapons for Kyler Murray. They traded for DeAndre Hopkins and added pieces on the defensive side of the ball. How will Murray fare in his sophomore season? San Francisco is hoping to make another trip to the Super Bowl after falling to the Chiefs last year. The 49ers will be in a dog fight in the NFC West this season as all the teams should be good. San Francisco will lean on their stout defensive line to get after Murray. I’m taking the 49ers to edge out the Cardinals in this one. San Francisco Win 24-21

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe have the Sunday night game with two teams that’s thinking about the playoffs. The Dallas Cowboys travel to Los Angeles to face the Rams. Dallas has opened as one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl this season. Dak is still trying to prove his worth as he signed his franchise tag this offseason. The Cowboys gave Amari Cooper a huge contract to remain in Dallas and also improved their defense. Los Angeles is hoping that Jared Goff can become more of a leader. On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams have two of the best at their position. Aaron Donald is still the best defensive player in the league. Jalen Ramsey is one of the top cornerbacks and they rewarded him with a contract extension. The Cowboys are a better team and should win this one. Dallas Win 34-24

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsWe start with the first Monday night game of the season. The Pittsburgh Steelers head to New York to battle the Giants. Pittsburgh will see the return of Big Ben who missed most of last season with an elbow injury. The Steelers should have one of the best defenses in the league this season. They will need it being in the division with Baltimore and Cleveland. Can they start the year with a win? New York is starting the season with Daniel Jones being the guy to lead the team. The Giants are hoping Saquon Barkley to avoid injuries this season. While the Giants will be a much improved team, the Steelers defense will be too much for them. I’m going with Big Ben having a successful return and guide the Steelers to the win. Pittsburgh Win 23-14

Daddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsDaddy’s Hangout 2020 NFL Opening Week PredictionsThe final game of the opening week and of Monday night takes place in Denver. The Tennessee Titans travel to the Mile High City to face the Broncos. The Titans are hoping to capitalize on their successful playoff run from a year ago. They gave Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry contract extension during the offseason. Tennessee recently added Jadaveon Clowney to an already stout defense. Denver has lofty expectations this season especially on the offensive side. They drafted well, but they lost their All-Pro defensive end Von Miller for the season. This will hurt the Broncos in the long run as he’s the heart and soul of the team. With the Broncos being shocked with the loss of Miller I’m going with the Titans to win. Tennessee Win 27-21
